  1. I posted this topic last week with sound files as well. Great 45 regardless.
  2. The guy who was selling had them on here asking questions about them last week I think.
  3. Of course they can but as said it would appear most don't care who comes through the door. Most probably don't have the bottle to evict the trouble makers either.
  4. If the words about how full it was and how good it was come from the promoter I take no notice of it. Many reviews are a complete waist of time and often dishonest, I read them and think I must have been at a different venue. But if promoters keep letting drunks in and upsetting the real punters it will simply drive them away and maybe it will be good for the scene as a whole as there are far too many venues as it is.
  5. Too many promoters just don't care, all they see is a fiver or tenner etc going in the tin. How many of these employ security which is required by law as far as I know? I've been to many nights wi no security at all. Time memberships were brought back.
  6. Not about the film but connected in some way, some reading about a court case about this song. Appears it is actually the Blossoms. https://faac.us/adf/messages/150056/158308.html?1192239343 Also says it is Laura Lee in the film singing an unissued version.
  7. I've read it was Laura Lee. https://www.blaxploitationpride.org/2008/10/detroit-9000-1973_28.html?zx=c0a0043df10a0d92
  8. I think it was Craig Moerer who had the small quantity. The first few were cheap then the price rose as Brita were buying it and he realised what he had. Andy Dyson go it from Butch ten years ago as Butch said on another topic and covered it up. Time wise it was when Lifeline was at the Bell when Andy first got behind it. Mace sneakily saw Andy's copy and got one, I presume he got one for Des or told him where to get it from. Not seen anymore apart form the odd one or two since hat small batch.
  9. Andy Dyson had it covered up as "coffee....", don't recall it being Little Jimmy Parker though...
  10. If some are that bothered by what others play get yourselves out and listen to them.
  11. I remember it from the 80's early 90's but couldn't remember who turned it up or who played it first. Was a biggie for Gary Spencer as well.
  12. Who discovered this?
  13. Strange world of northern soul as they say mate. You had to be dead from the waist down not to dance to those.
  14. So that is after Stafford and after Colin...... (bangs head on wall)
  15. I reckon in answer to the original question, it was well known to collectors, had pays on the Mod Scene in London early 80's before gaining wider recognition on the Northern scene via Colin.
  16. As Butch says well known to collectors before it got plays by Colin so I would have though Pat well aware of it. However he is adamant he didn't play the record, in particular at Stafford. Bradford would be a few years after, 1988?
  17. Will there be a listen again facility Nev or an upload to mixcloud?
  18. I've heard from Pat. He said he never playd it at Stafford. He neither mentioned about him playing it elsewhere. Like I said I don't recall Pat playing it at any allnighters, he had a great set of his own.
  19. Stafford closed February 1986. It was massive 1987 at Chesterfield, Blackburn and Allanton when that started end of the year, I'm almost certain it was still being played covered up then. As I said earlier never ever heard of this being associated with Pat by anyone other than Phil. I will email Pat see if he has any recollections.
  20. I've never heard of this record being associated with Pat, never heard him play it and never heard him talk about it when it was being spun by Colin....happy to be proved wrong and that it was Stafford spin but no one I've pestered (and that's a lot of folk) mentioned this in the same breath as Stafford.
  21. I know it's August but haven't a clue why I typed audio Great 45 though.
  22. I've been in touch with the last surfing member of the Service men as you know Dave. Be nice to hear some of the tales Hadley can tell.
  23. First I've heard of this mentioned alongside Stafford although I'm sure with it being on Sureshot it would be known to some. Colin is the first I remember playing it around 1987 covered up as you say.
