  1. Recent ebay slae so maye 100ish about right.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Northern-Soul-45-Joe-Douglas-Something-To-Brag-About-Playhouse-rare-/360820066500?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item54028d48c4
  2. I've seen this for around £75 in recent times and I've seen it in the same boxes for some time so maybe not a good seller. Is there demand for it?
  3. Played this out a few times the last few months.
  4. It's not as good as the three I previously posted and not good enough IMO to make it to the dance floors. Lisa Stansfield......I thought it was an average pop song, nothing more, certainly can't see what the fuss is about.
  5. I quite like the Howeefeel "People Of The World" I picked up from Jason at the same time as the Valdons. The Valdons is great, That funky kid Andy Whitmore put me onto that one, deffo worth some exposure at soul venues.
  6. The latest release from Soul Junction, unreleased JB Bingham..... https://www.souljunctionrecords.co.uk/SJ525.html also pick any of the recent releases from soul junction, all worthy of plays out on the scene.
  7. Another I picked up of Fish at the same time is The Dynamites feat Charles Walker (Little Charles). "Still Can't Get You Out Of My Heart" came out on the album "Love Is Only Everything. But the flip of the 45 I didn't know as it only came out on the US take of the album or so I believe. "Get Up On Living" is a great little number from the band. Have a listen at https://www.firstexperiencerecords.com/product-detail////The+Dynamites+feat.+Charles+Walker/Still+Can%27t+Get+You+Out+Of+My+Heart++Get+Up+On+Living/vinyl/3981 I doubt either of the above will go big but I'm not sure many tips will get a spin on todays scene let alone go big.
  8. From the Classic Urban Harmony Newsletter...... Jay Traynor Dies. Original lead of Jay & Americans; sang with the Mystics and Jay Siegel's Tokens. As we prepared to send out this newsletter, we just heard of the passing of Jay Traynor, original lead of Jay & the Americans. Jay also sang with the Mystics and more recently with Jay Siegel's Tokens. John "Jay" Traynor was born on March 30, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY. As a vocalist, he joined the Mystics as lead (after "Hushabye") and sang on their recording of "White Cliffs Of Dover". Traynor was the first "Jay" in Jay & the Americans, leading on their recording of "She Cried". Shortly after that he went solo. More recently, Jay Traynor had been singing with Jay Siegel's Tokens. We last saw Jay Traynor at the Richard Nader IZOD Center concert in May 2013, where we had a chance to talk with him briefly. Jay died on January 2, 2014 at the age of 70. We was a nice guy and we are deeply saddened by his passing. - Charlie & Pam To watch a YouTube of Jay Traynor singing "She Cried" with Jay Siegel's Tokens in 2011, click "She Cried". Rex Garvin of the Hearts dies. Wrote "Over The Mountain". Rex A. Garvin, member of the Hearts ("Lonely Nights") and writer of Johnnie & Joe's "Over The Mountain, Across The Sea," died on December 2, 2013 at the age of 72. Garvin was born in NYC and raised in the Bronx. In 1954, he helped form the Hearts, a female R&B vocal group with whom he also sang bass. The Hearts first record, "Lonely Nights" (Baton label) became a Top 10 R&B record in 1955. Garvin continued with the Hearts as their pianist, arranger and musical director. Garvin also worked with J&S Records, writing the hit song "Over The Mountain, Across The Sea" for Johnnie & Joe. In later years, Rex Garvin recorded with his band, the Mighty Cravers, scoring with the soul hit "Sock It To 'Em J.B." (Like label). Garvin is seen at the far right in the Hearts photo above.
  9. Had news from Andy Rix that both Jay Traynor & Rex Garvin have both passed away. Have just read the news elsewhere as well. R.I.P.
  10. In keeping with the spirit of the topic, and staying with covers, one that Fish brought to Thorne and shipped a few copies after Arthur gave it a spin. https://www.firstexperiencerecords.com/product-detail/Vinyl+Singles//Sundae+Soul/Paul+Craver/Pyramid++Hey+Girl/vinyl/4225
  11. Are you stalking me or what? I have my taste and everyone else has theirs, that is all that matters. I wouldn't tell anyone to wash their ears out for spending any amount of money on a record, except in jest of course
  12. Because its a debating forum and if i want to comment I will do so. I was simply passing comment because the choices were surprising with a large majority of the 2007 list being well known at the time and had been for a lot of years, many for 15/20 years plus, if you don't like that then tough sh*t. You are as patronising as anyone at times on topics on here.
  13. Hector was mentioned on Gethro's FB page, still about living down south I think they said.
  14. Make it? Most had made it many years before. I can't believe most of the 2007 list was suggested, most were oldies and had been played for years. Unless you were new to the scene in 2007 you would have heard them. Those that weren't regular plays was probably because they weren't good enough.
  15. I meant to edit to read vice versa but got collared to run some errands
  16. If anything younger collectors should be able to afford more than those with mortgage, bills etc unless your young and have a mortgage that is My advice stop at home until you've amassed a decent collection Oh and stay single unless she is rich
  17. We all like records that many think are sh*t so to say someone wants their ears washing out isn't really fair, we all have guilty secrets when it comes to collecting.
  18. Posted similar at same time.
  19. As I said before taste is subjective, it might be a reliant robin of a record to some but to others it will be a Bentley. It is an extremely rare record as well regardless what some think of it and would easily fetch well over £1.5k.
  20. Yes it's a better alternative to the Tams by a country mile, not overplayed really nor would I call it particularly inspiring? It's the type of record I would expect to hear at an all-nighter.
  21. Both great and I don't feel the need to compare one against the other.
  22. Taste is subjective and we are all different, would be a very poor scene if we all liked the same or told to like what others like as happens on here at times.
  23. I've also the very first cd (or so I believe) Rare Soul On Cd, what is that worth these days?
