Got mine from Jazzman I think, coloured ones. Not the cheapest but perfect fit. Bit thicker than standard paper as well.
-
Great photos mate, thanks for posting. Would love to see the rest.
-
And that is still the case for many if they want to listen to the rarities of Butch, Andy Dyson, Mick H, etc...... If you want the same old same then you can go to a venue in your village n'er mind town or city.

I will get Andy to go....he can drive for a change See you in 2014 hopefully. -
Major cities will always have a decent number of youngsters but major cities are representative of the country as a whole. Neither do you see them travel. There are plenty from London, Manchester, Leeds and other cities who bang on about wanting something new and are never seen outside of where they live, unless of course they are djing.

Going to have to try and make it up there, heard nothing but good about the venue. -
Ruby Andrews is old and a classic example of what we are talking about. Most soul nights I attend the large part are far from young?
-
I wouldn't ban anyone but I would expect anyone who attends a club to respect what the promoter is doing and what the club is advertised as. Many a time I've DJ'ed at events where it isn't about oldies, yet some muppet comes up and asks for oldies.
-
I agree records were hammered, same in any scene but they had a shelf life and they were soon replaced by new discoveries. DJ's these days don't seem to have a not needed box anymore and feel it unnecessary to look for something forgotten or even new. As I said the choice available to DJ's has never been greater so why not use them?
-
No it doesn't mean it is a bad record but the DJ's these days have to hammer every record until every ounce of goodness is drained from it. Familiarity breads contempt is never truer than on this scene. It's the very fact that the DJ's today have little imagination whereas once upon a time a long time ago DJ's all had individuality and imagination. If today's scene was like that it would be a far better scene for it. Dj's have never had so many records to choose from yet all you hear in so many venues is the same old same. Some of my favourite records are classics but I have heard them so often I couldn't care less if I never heard them again. All those who returned to the scene who are IMO responsible for this, when they were away doing whatever they did, what diid they listen to? A tape recording of the same top forty for 20 odd years?
-
Fingers crossed mate. Hope Lisa and yourself have a good christmas and see you both soon hopefully. I hope all scumbag thiefs have a sh*t christmas.
-
Gutted for you Kim, no mate would steal from another. I hope you find out who it was and then let everyone know. Simon, same for you, hope you get your records back. The guy who has your records should be worried.
-
dunno why you didn't hear it ten years ago, I heard it many a time in the east mids when I lived there, one of the top 500.
-
A soul pack record does't necessarily make it a common record. John said he would use records for soul packs when he needed money. He might have a box of 25 of a particular record, he might have a 100 but they were used regardless. Very few might have turned up since so in essence some so called soul pack records might just be pretty rare and not as common as the term suggests.

Which Records Should Be Played Out To Break The 500 Mould
Chalky replied to Rodders22's topic in All About the SOUL
Mal is right it is out there, the support for them isn't, even from them who constantly claim they want an upfront night sick of oldies etc etc. -
What are you hearing now at the East Midlands nights now you weren't hearing ten years ago?
-
Jeanette isn't a new discovery, not even recent, it has been around years and like I said I don't really remember it getting that much attention until into the 90's as it was a pretty common record.
-
John does it the right way really, go to sotherby's and it is until just one bidder left.
-
I don't remember Butch spinning it but could be wrong. Don't really remember any particular Dj spinning it as it was a common record, just demand pushed the price up. The other two Wade Flemons tracks were bigger records years ago. Promoters and DJ's alike have to take a lead and introduce newer discoveries, maybe 4 or 5 a set but a really good record will cross over despite the oldies DJ's. Most that seem to have crossed over have been inspite of the oldies DJ's and not because of them, largely because of DJ's like Sam, Mick H and Andy Dyson having an influence all over the country with bookings, even Butch until recently at Kings Hall etc. The oldies DJ by and large won't take a chance until a record turns up and sells for money and is generating a lot of gossip.
-
Yeah was lazy reply. I know of five copies, all in the UK but could now be four if this was sold abroad. I don't know of any anywhere else, not saying there is though as you can never say for sure what is in collections anywhere in the world.
-
First class here you are insured up to £28 I think. Anything more and it goes insured if bought from me, simply to protect my interests, what the buyer wants is irrelevant really as far as I am concerned unless I receive written instructions.
-
Did he give you postage options? First class or second class, insured or not etc? The seller shouldn't really send anything other than insured if worth that amount unless he receives explicit instruction from the buyer.
-
The guy who posted the photos in the recent topic has said it is that copy.
