https://collectorsfrenzy.com/search?q=betty+lloyd&search-button= Plenty of instances in the above link going back 4 years of the disc selling for over $400 and even $500 plus. The test press on popsike fetched nearly $1000. This scene doesn't live in the real world. The fact is that no one does any homework and can see a seller has quantity on a 45, Jesse Davis one example. Clara Hardy another recent example. They just jump right in, more money than sense in some cases some might say. The price might drops when people realise but once the stock dries up the price rises again....ala Betty Lloyd.
-
Re Betty Lloyd, apart from the one that was f*cked, popsike shows the previous 4 between 404 and 496 dollars. Obviously more than one person willing to pay more than it is actually worth

Does Bonio carry any clout with the kids of today? He doesn't with Ellie or any of her mates and I would imagine it would be the same for most generations unless you like U2??

Yes pretty sure it is the acetate of the boot. Sure it has been said before that Soussan used Allen Zentz publishing. There was an acetate of one of Soussan's boots from the same place on here in the past, picture as well.

Pete's copy is £85, decent price for the issue I thought. -
June Jackson It's What's Underneath , Black Issue
Chalky replied to Sheldonsoul's topic in Look At Your Box
this is the issue that I know off and the one Pete mentions..... https://www.saveltd.co.uk/june-jackson-its-whats-underneath-that-counts-imperial-1672-p.asp It is a lot rarer than the demo. -
You should loom into it, you are losing potential sales. Not too hard to convert if you have the software. Ask Mark Windle he sold his book online, The Blurb.

Could have done without Bonio....did he ever record there? I could understand the Stones input. But if it helps get the message out then all well and good. Apart from that it was a fantastic documentary a real insight into the studios and what came out of them. If you haven't already you need to go and buy all the cd's Kent have issued from the Fame vaults, some superb music, released and unreleased.

Is there a digital version of this book?

June Jackson It's What's Underneath , Black Issue
Chalky replied to Sheldonsoul's topic in Look At Your Box
The one Pete mentions is the only one I know of, the green on the audition copy is the same on the issue (without audition copy obviously), the rest is black. -
I actually thought it was to begin with but wasn't 100% sure.

Ric Tic is under all the rest. It was competition bought by Gordy simply to eliminate the competition. some fabulous recordings on Motown and its various labels, particulatly the unreleased stuff but too much rubbish and middle of the road pop for me, that's why i say the rest is streets ahead. Add up tne releases on the labels in Detroit alone and it would out shine even Motown. Then all the Philly, New York, West Coast etc etc......

All the rest, streets ahead.

Sam's giving this some turntable action. -
Great nights at Piercebridge and a top notch venue. Enjoyed everyone and had the pleasure of spinning a few in both rooms.

As I'm away a lot I have to download them and listen, Three hours far too long. An hour and half would be far better and better received I think. Track list would be good as well.

A record was initial pressed to gauge demand. Not every company could afford to press 1000's from the off like the majors. If the first batch sold more were pressed. If they didn't sell they moved on to the next recording. I would say every company like Soultown's aim was to sell as many of each recording they could. Just because a record didn't sell doesn't mean that wasn't the initial intention behind the release. I would have thought without distribution, promotion and DJ's on your pay roll chart success was never going to happen but that doesn't mean they weren't out to sell as many as possible. Again Northern Soul didn't exist when Ray Agee etc were recorded. It wasn't recorded for a small underground scene 1000's of miles away. It was recorded for the local black market. The Uk Rare Northern Soul Scene gave them a second lease of life.
