  1. I don’t think it helps having to go on the topic in the forum and find nothing there but a link to the news item which is away from the main forum.
  2. I’ve said exactly the same on previous releases when folk are more interested in talking the same old sh*te when far more interesting stuff passes by almost unnoticed
  3. Excellent release as usual from Yann, Harvey Scales been finding a lot of favour on various facets of the scene and this will be a welcome addition.
  4. Tim Ashibende makes a welcome return to join Dean Anderson in the studio for a three hour special, always a great show and an education with Tim.
  5. maybe they are critical because it is not what the scene or even this site is really about. Soul Source - Rare Northern Soul Music. Topics like this and people like you continually watering it all down, the topic has been done to death with lengthy discussions but you feel the need to start another. Maybe just maybe many of us are getting tired of it? Many of us are tired of the mainstream commercialisation and reducing this once great scene down to div level. It is so far removed from the original ethos of the scene. If people want to wear crass t-shirts and look tw*ts on tv be my guest but don’t keep ramming it down our throats, keep it in that parallel’ universe where we can’t see it. I know we are getting older and don’t get up to the antics we used to but we do like to try and keep it real and still stay away from the divs we went to nighters to get away from in the first place.
  6. They were indeed download and a cd too, home made. Lou Barreto put them out. The Gloria Jones was released on Phil Dick's label eventually.
  7. And now they milk it for every last penny and drag it further into the div gutter
  8. Why don’t they/you just leave it alone, it isn’t meant for the proms, it is meant to be in an a club preferably underground.
  9. The topic made you look though and find the demo
  10. I agree but because some do not like what the some or do or other things they get up to it doesn’t give anyone the right to troll, abuse and insult others. No one insulted or abused them. Of course there was plenty new to the music, it was essentially a proms audience.
  11. More lazy journalism, you’d think with all the info out there including the full story on here by Andy Rix if memory serves he’d get it right.
  12. Interesting reading and again some excellent information.
  13. Another great topic with super info. Never seen the Summit release before.
  14. I’m friends with Jack on there. I’ve asked him a few questions over time, last one last week but he rarely can remember anything.
  15. It is real one. The stamp is M.S.I. Co, Philly pressing plant
  16. This week Phil Beckwith makes a welcome return to the studio.
  17. There are plenty of common records that are hard to get, they are now scarce with insufficient copies to meet any demand. No one was disputing that Eddie Parker was "hard to get", we was disputing the claim made by you and Frankie as to how many copies there actually was. I said myself earlier in the topic it was stuck in collections, too good to sell. It has been up for sale once in a while too, maybe not on major dealers lists. Just because you haven't seen one doesn't mean one hasn't sold. There are other ways records are sold.
  18. Sad news seems to be daily/weekly Nice guy Jim, both in his company and online. R.I.P. Jim
  19. It doesn't confirm nothing, maybe the 45 RPM guy just wasn't aware of the Eddie Parker being an archer press, other records missing too. Elusive and rarity are different too.
  20. He wouldn't go to the trouble of demos and then only a few issues, the costs would be far too high. They were after all trying to make money. Jack did say to me yesterday that he thought the record was ahead of its time.
  21. The differences/variants were known to those in record bars to my knowledge
  22. Jack cannot remember anything, long time ago he said.
  23. as for the other "plant" from 45 cat
  24. Popsike isn't THE guide for sales of any record. Not every copy sold via eBay is on popsike. Many deals for this record were done before popsike was a twinkle in the sack of the owners and away from eBay. Only records over $20 are included and copies before NS became popular again probably sold for less in the early days of the internet. I dare say the vast majority off any deal for this record were done at a venue. There was more than a few issues IMO, had a copy myself back in the day as did others and most will be stuck in collections, it is too good to sell. If demos were pressed and given out then I doubt they would go to the trouble of a "few" audio samples, any test pressings would be done before the demo stage. I've asked Jack for some clarification.
  25. Spent most of the day with him watching him rehearse at Yarmouth, fantastic.
