  1. Is the Sevens "release"better quality than the Joanne boot?
  2. Swan flight are great, will make to what ever size and stule you want as well. I now have magma bags though, lighter and easier to carry.
  3. I don't think we know who it is singing, uncredited acetate and as said found in Maxx Kidd's basement by Andy Rix. Andy might be able to tell us more.
  4. I'm not 100% Phil but I think there may have been an original acetate and that being the only source. I know Rob Marriott was the one who made it a biggie, not sure who he got it from.

  6. The Bridges one is a far more laid back jazzy feel to it, not the hard edged stomper the other one is.
  7. No it isn't, same record yes but totally different take of it, no where near as good.
  8. https://testpressing.wordpress.com/2009/06/17/more-cutting-room-heroes/ Plenty of other links to Ron and the NSC if you google NSC.
  9. Blue Tit on our table tonight....
  10. Marv Johnson? https://www.dftmc.info/titles/tl-02.htm
  11. Old Rob Marriott spin. It is Johnnie Taylor. Joanne is a bootleg.
  12. nope forget that, not the one.....
  13. There is also the straight 60's take that was on the CD Chris King did, slower and a different lead, Freddie Gorman possibly? I couldn't see a clip on YT.
  14. Not a lot of difference really, like I said I doubt most would tell in the middle of an all-nighter.
  15. It's preferred by me. I didn't realise there was a preferred one, doubt many would realise which was which when the needle hits the disc at 3am.
  16. I think this is the original version played on this scene, the one that came from Robb, hopefully he will confirm.
  17. https://www.news-record.com/life/article_363be032-dc4b-11e3-86e7-001a4bcf6878.html Interesting article about Pearlean Gray, the link first brought to my attention via the Southern Soul Mailing List but thought it was worth sharing.
  18. The nearest the scene has come to having a focal point in recent years was with Sheridan's. Quality night every week with various clubs involved, Lifeline, Soultown, Joe Dutton with the R&B club plus various soul nights at the time. Now the scene is f*cked with too many self centred promoters, too many events clashing with no thought what so ever for what is already there.
  19. No it will never happen again. To many promoters with their own agendas and couldn't care less about the bigger picture or the future of the scene.
  20. Some seem to be acting 5 years old
  21. I can't believe this is even being discussed?
  22. Other way round Win, Butch first as well as Jesse James "it's Alright". Butch covered his take of WOH as The Sherry's.
  23. Oddfellows was Feb 1982 to 85/86 I think? The club continued though and even had the odd anniversary back at Oddfellows.
  24. Guy also ran Tony's from 1987 to 1990 or early 1991, I would have to get the echoes out at the weekend.
  25. No sorry. Andy Rix might be able to add more or correct anything I said that isn't correct.
