  5. Press Release: Reggie Soul & The Soul Swingers “My World Of Ecstasy/Mighty Good Loving” SJ553 Release Date: Monday November 14th 2023 Reggie Soul real name Reginald Stone is just one of many illusive recording artists who had a very limited recording career for a handful of small independent Chicago labels then disappeared into obscurity, Reggie reputedly left Chicago in the mid 1970’s for the lone star state of Texas never to be seen or heard from again! Reggie’s recording legacy is the sum total of 3, 45 singles two of which he recorded under the supervision of respected Chicago songwriter and producer Clarence Johnson., firstly the funk outing “I Got Jody” backed with the soulful “I Feel So Bad” for Red Balloon Records, “I Feel So Bad” was composed by Lee Sain who recorded his own version under the title of “Baby Don’t Leave Me” for the Broach label. Reggie Soul’s “I Got Jody” also came out as a B-side on Nation Time Records, the A-side was a version of the James Brown song “Soul Walkin’ but this side was credited under the mis-credited artist name of Reggie Smith? Finally, Reggie’s third release “My World Of Ecstasy/Mighty Good Loving” was released on the Scott Brothers own Capri Records label in 1968. Both sides of the 45 were written by Reggie with Charles and Walter Scott, arrangements were provided by John Jackson and Bill McFarland who provided the horn section to many of the Scott’s future productions. The Scott Brothers of which there were several (all musicians) had begun their own careers during the late 1950’s recording under the group name of The Masquerades on the Formal label. Often referred to as The Scott Brothers Orchestra with Howard Sephus Scott at the head of their growing musical dynasty they formed their own company Capri Productions circa 1968, their initial recording productions were Fred Johnson (Shi-Lush Records) and the aforementioned Reggie Soul & The Soul Swingers. The Scott’s were also the house band in one of Chicago’s Southside’s most popular night clubs ‘The Bonanza Lounge on 7641, South Halsted. The Scott’s often used the Bonanza as a source of finding future artists for their labels, such as The Soul Majestics, Judson Moore, Bobby Jones & Duke Turner amongst others, they even recorded a live performance on The Bonanza Lounges’ resident comedian Randolph Browner which gained a release on the Shi-Lush label. “My World Of Ecstasy” like several Capri 45 releases were heavily imported into the UK, often sold in soul packs before finding favour with aficionados of the Crossover Scene in the late 1980’s with it’s popularity still remaining high to the present day. Soul Junction through their licensing deal with Scot-Tees Publishing would like to present the first release of their Capri Records series. 9. Preston Cyberman Gis Southworth returns to the studio alongside Paul Johnson for two hours of great music and banter.
  10. He sells “northern soul” records and with it being “covered up” he is hoping to sell to some unsuspecting Dj on the “scene” I guess.
  11. Utter utter drivel. Why cover up something so crap and known? Anyone who pays £8.50 for that dross wants their heads looking at. I did n’t think their was much hope for all-nighters but If that is getting plays at nighters then all hope is lost.
  12. 6 O'Clock ex Wigan biggie Golden World Strings "Supertime"
  13. Another supreme effort from you Steve, well done.
  14. which one? one or both 7s on the Daptone US site
  15. Our local chippie won't take card, they probably don't declare the takings??? But many establishments want cashless and many bars and hotels take card only.
  16. Pete has always been top whack
  17. Read the link mate, it is going to effect all digital platforms, eBay etc
  18. Whilst all that is true, many hobbyists are actively trying to avoid import duties and VAT although VAT is added at source now. But on records that are not cheap a lot of import duty is avoided and that is what they will come after. They will have a list of everything sold, supplied but the platforms to the HMRC to a department at the HMRC that will deal with this.
  19. Can we have a link or example then we might be able to make an informed contribution, otherwise topics like this are pretty pointless. Discogs, regardless of the anomalies is still one of the best places to sell. I’ve sold stuff on there I would never have sold here, facebook or elsewhere.
  20. @Chris Turnbull joins the team this week for two hours of quality soul music
  21. The taxman is coming after your digital sales and purchases. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/reporting-rules-for-digital-platforms/reporting-rules-for-digital-platforms?fbclid=IwAR2XolJM3A42s6-5irtRmrR7ApyHmz-njfs6vZJ5MYsiX2g6G8nSa1_EqW4_aem_Ac7IBP7CAQE3_mFZwK6z48jFW17JbSovW0WweSaMwFyjF0qqXKyNIprctyDHkp9mPk4
  22. I have better things to do with my life than worry about what others claim to have on discogs. I just use the site for a value or to buy something.
  23. Can you list a record if you are not selling
  24. I’m not saying for a minute the venue itself is detrimental. It is the constant fixation of a pretty narrow selection of records, week in week out that is detrimental. Would you watch top of the pops from 1978 on rewind for 50 years?
  25. There are tons of records that could be getting played including loads from Wigan era that have been neglected in favour of the top 200. It is how much you spend on a record that gets you a dj booking.
