  1. The three magazines Pete Lawson published (well two one was unpublished at the time of his death) are on my site, great readin as is Jock's magazine which is also on my site and another excellent read. Both in either pdf or ebook format. The link for my site is in my signature.
  2. I think John McClure had one in his box last weekend. Johnmcc on here.
  3. I think Tim's was maybe some sort of Goldmine test press when they were compiling the CD, could be, probably wrong? They did I'm sure when doing the cd list it as unissued I think??
  4. It looked ok although I didn't inspect it too closely. He has played it at Lifeline a few times.
  5. Conducted
  6. It isn't unissued but I only know of the one copy and Butch has that.
  7. Guy told me it came from Rob Smith as Steve said above, Guy to his credit said Rob should get the credit for it.
  8. If it didn't matter then why comment? The video above is just over 2 years, June 2012. Like I said the discussion was before this video was posted, when I'm not really bothered.
  9. I realsie that I was simply questioning the relation between the two Tommy's when they don't sound remotely like each other. At least the question has been answered.
  10. It was a discussion in a group on the raresoulforum or FB I think 3 or 4 years ago.
  11. Far rarer than many of the big auction items of late IMO.
  12. I had a sound file for a long time, don't recall where I got it from or who but I posted it online before it was on Youtube.
  13. It may not have been Mark but pretty sure I've heard it at Lifeline.
  14. Related? As in discussion or that Tommy & The Derbys on Swing and Kool are the same and that they are the Carpets as well? I don't see any conclusive proof though just educated guess work. One thing for sure it isn't Tommy Tate on the Kool 45. Me I think the names are just a coincidence until proven otherwise.
  15. Pretty sure I've heard him play it at Lifeline but not 100%
  16. Don't get me wrongI am not embarrassed, nor do they ridicule and if they did believe me I can give as good as I get. I forgot you are not in this country and given that fact it must be very different with regards to knowing or not knowing about the scene.
  17. It is no bug bear, I don't particularly care that if am in to Northern Soul, modern soul, rare soul whatever soul I was simply giving an opinion of what Northern Soul comes across as to many of my mates who aren't into the scene. I doubt there are too many who haven't heard of Northern Soul? Bloody hell it is in every facet of the media today, it is all over the place, they must have been living on another planet. You can explain as much as you like what the music is about, and I doubt many will not agree with what you say above, but many of my non soul mates don't know much about the music but they all know the image it has, the clowns on the seas front with a dress on each leg, the drugs, that is what they know and it doesn't look good.
  18. No it isn't Tommy Tate and a different Derbys to the Swing release The youtube channel is Kev Higham's so maybe he has it too. There is at least one other out there.
  19. Northern soul was once cool. We were better than our "normal" mates as we were part of the greatest underground music scene. They were wondering what we got up to over the weekend, there was some mystique around us. Now the term just conjures up everything divvy, tacky and uncool. Our mates now laugh because of the image portrayed by some. As said it is no longer confined to the north, it is world wide so may be rare soul is a better term?
  20. I've asked Keb, he says it was at Loughborough (Town Hall I presume) and it was Darrell Banks. Played it about 5 times and said something like "there you are, great record, but are you not fed up with it yet? I'm now going to play something new instead". He thinks he threw it into the crowd, he can't remember if he broke it or not.
  21. There are at lesst two acetates now as Butch found one few years or so ago.
  22. When did it finish Steve?
  23. Think Minsh was running those, was definitely the odd one or two in late 81, maybe very early 82 (I have some echoes somewhere with adverts in) and then Dave T got on board and Top Dog began life in April 82.
  24. Whilst researching the Stafford Story I was told by more than one person that it was a very brief Mecca spin. It was later reactivated and made big by Chris Plant. That is what i am led to believe.
  25. Up all day sleep all night, light weights
