Just done a bit more rooting and apparently the Witches (And Warlock) were originally the Montells (Golden Crest), The Pussy Cats (Keetch), The Witches (Bang), Witches And Warlock (Calla & Sew City).

No. Previous topic on the Witches I started some time ago....
  4. https://www.soulunderground.co.uk/StaffordTOTW/files/b7b224e7d690aa161e0b90925c1e983b-63.html Seems an age since I last did a podcast..I haven't forgotten the Stafford Story, I have been busy doing more research and seeking out more tracks played at the Top of The World. Finally managed to nail another hours worth of music that Jimmy Wensiora played back in the days of Stafford and Rock City. It has been tough because despite his collection not many seem to remember much about Jimmy. Here is a selection of Rare Soul, acetates and unissued that make up the 61st podcast telling the musical history of the Top Of The World All-nighters! Ad-Libs – You’ll Always Be In Style - 10’ April & Blackwood Acetate (Patti Austin) B.B. Carter – Cool It Baby – Kris (Baby Washington) Berkshire 7 – Stop And Start Over – Stop (Mel Wynn) Bo Fowler – Now You’ve Got The Upper Hand – Unissued Studio Acetate Vince & Connie – I Bear Witness – Virtue Acetate Timothy Wilson – My Heart Belongs To You – April & Blackwood Acetate (Actually Van McCoy) Little Bobby Parker – I Won’t Believe It Till I See It – Unissued Shrine recording Precisions – My Sense Of Direction (Is Blown) – Hen Mar Fascinators – In Other Words – Bombay Honey & The Bees – Be Yourself – Academy Sea Shells – Quiet Home - Village J.T. 5. I don't think or I haven't seen anyone knocking the quality, Jack Montgomery hasn't done a bad record really. I can think of quality records that sell for less that are just as if not rarer than JM.
  6. By Jack? "Baby, Baby take A Chance On Me"? That is what I was playing late 80's early 90's at Tracky, Hollingwood etc.
  7. Ey up Joan. I went to Welshpool t'other day and went through a village called Pant and I immediately thought of you I nearly stopped, got out and was gonna draw an "S" on the end
  8. Supply is there though, it is up for sale somewhere just about everyday.
  9. Hi Penny. Yes I was aware of Stuart's help. I'd have loved to have seen Pete putting these together, I can just imagine the rants as well as the laughs
  10. Everyone love a rogue as they say, sometimes the bad over shadows the good someone did.
  11. Begs the question why so many keep paying so much for a record when in comparison to others is pretty common. It should be in the 30/40 quid bracket.

Just had a listen, it is longer and the singing and is at a faster tempo.

The vocals are different too. Same lyrics just not as polished if you know what I mean.

It was played before the Dome, Guy Hennigan's Frankie & The Classicals cover up mid 80's Don't think any of those four were particularly cheap Pete.

It is but Andy/Rob have an alternate take. I remember being in the Dome (CSC) when there was 4 copies for sale same night.

The alternate take of Linda And The Pretenders (Believe Me) was played by Andy Rix and Rob Thomas.
  17. I've been reliably informed by someone there at the time that the very first one is believed to be She Blew A Good Thing ....Poets done by Jeff King prior to his Soul Sounds in late '69 early '70 on a label called Old Soul?

Those pressings are bootlegs though. Was done without permission, Rob Thomas owned the rights I believe.
  19. I have that Kev, came out on two label designs too.
  20. Jeff King.
  21. As said it has been known about for a long time but it's rare, but pretty poor IMO, just too girlie for some and is it good enough for the dancer floor? It has had plays but nothing what you would consider substantial. Probably not worked for those who have had a copy and they have either moved it on for something better or put it on the shelf.
  22. He did the coloured and mutli-coloured boots of the likes of Eddie Foster and Sam Fletcher amongst others.
  23. Again that is your personal taste, others think different otherwise they wouldn't cover it or any record up and play it. There has been many cover ups not to my taste but I respect the DJ who has covered it and his reasons. It is nigh on impossible to get an unknown today. And one wonders why many of those at the sharp end offer no information on here when you read topics like this and previously Tommy and the Derby's.
  24. Nothing wrong with personal taste, its the hypocrosy on here that makes me laugh. If all those knocking the record found one today they would have a totally different opinion and would either keep it or sell it for a "daft" amount. Most of those knocking and doing their best to uncover records on here have nothing to do with the current all-nighter scene. I always kept my mouth shut, still do, if I found out what a cover up is in the hope of finding one, either for myself or make a bit of money.
