    As an aside I was once asked by a company to supply/suggest tracks that could be sampled. They did it properly, fully licenced and all that and paid me if I suggested anything that became a hit. I never followed it through

    It was said this morning that the Gaye's had said it was ripped off etc. thicke and Williams thinking the Gaye's didn't have the resources to fight the case and would retract sued them.....costly mistake by the looks of it. The jury weren't allowed to know that it was Thicke and Williams who were the ones who brought the case to court.

    I serves them right for suing the Gaye Family, only themselves to blame. They did a mix on the radio and I couldn't hear the split or join or whatever lol.

    It was Thicke and Williams who sued Gaye's family apparently although the jury weren't allowed to know this. I'm glad they lost

    the book gives a really good insight into all aspects of the business including distributionn, much of it very underhand. One wonders how they compiled charts and what charts were compiled how correct were they.

    Danny Everard is back in Cornwall, Truro. He has an antiques shop which I visited some years ago. He hasn't changed a bit.

    To many seem to think that these releases are aimed at the UK Northern Soul scene and too many view it form a DJ's perspective, just shows how f***** up the scene is when viewing it like that. There is more to collecting than DJing and more collectors exist outside of the UK Northern Soul scene. Most couldn't give a toss about the UK Soul Scene and have no interest in it socially. Most collect because of a love of the music and a desire to hear something new.

    Why not? You are missing out on some great unreleased material not to mention a superb reproduction of a great Chicago label(s). Do you not buy Kent or any other company that does just this?

    But this is what Ace/Kent do Julie so I don't really understand the argument? And a brilliant job they do as well. Secret Stash are no different to other companies releasing old masters. Nobody owns a record just because they have discovered it, yes credit they deserve but at the end of the day those that do own the rights get nothing from a DJ playing a record on this scene.
