  1. Many today just don't realise what was around for sale back then and have no real idea of rarity. Great reading these and SOS again.
  2. As said Boola Boola first, local release. I had the Boola Boola one mid to late 80's, was playing it out but it cleared the floor. When I tried to sell it I couldn't give it away, took two years or so to shift it and that was in trades. I actually prefer the Boola Boola release.
  3. The knowledge back then, Pete's mag, Shades of Soul, Blackbeat and others was pretty fantastic considering everything was learnt the hard way, no clicking a mouse and getting the info the easy way. Much of the label articles were complete or pretty complete. It is good to see these magazines preserved as you say they really were a snap shot in time.
  4. I'd like to see Blackbeat PDF'ed as I never had that mag either Once you've done with SOS that is
  5. Issue 2 and 3 both the right way....... Beatin Rhythm Issue 2.pdf Beatin Rhythm Issue 3.pdf Many thanks mate, enjoying reading these. Thanks to Pete as well, never had these BITD.
  6. It's only a week after Cleethorpes.
  7. I've a crappy connection in this truck stop. Will have a listen tomorrow and add what I can.
  8. This Is The Day is the Inmates on Kopit.
  9. I Really Got My Sight On You is Mary Johnson "These Tears". Go On And Laugh is Butch's Just Brothers, acetate only.

Most of the topics on any forum can be avoided with a quick google. But some just hear that such and such is playing such and such and common sense seems to disappear out the window, along with prices. Some just pray on the idleness of some just like insurance companies, hoping people won't go to go compare and just take their word

The trouble is you don't see these guys on the so called shop floor, they don't really have a clue what is happening as far as DJ's and current in demand spins is concerned apart from word of mouth and what someone who wishes to sell them something tells them. You see it with the blurb/spin on many sales items.
  14. Bobby Bennett seems to be dropping in price. Shirley Johnson, not bad for Stax B side fodder Richard Marks, great record, great price too IMO. Been a spin for Andy Dyson and Cliff Steele over the years.
  15. And it probably says made in england on it as well. It wouldn't say Spyder Turner on it if original studio acetate either. If you'd given the full info to begin with you'd have your answer straight away. As Trev said it is a boot/emidisc someone has had knocked up.
  16. I agree name and shame if you are certain who the culprit is and then no other promoter or punter should have to worry about him.
  17. That's my reading for the week. Brilliant Sean, many thanks.
  18. Thanks Sean and Mike , much appeciated. Really is a part of the scene that needs preserving. wonder if any of the more recent articles were done in word and can be quickly converted, Soulful Kinda Music, Manifesto etc etc.
  19. Shocked to hear this. R.I.P. Helena.
  20. Looks a little blurry but when I stretch it out it looks ok' could be my failing eye sight though. Is there any way increasing the upload limit (Mike) to enable increased quality? But once again many thanks for tis Sean, greatly appreciated.
  21. Here is Dean's set in its entirety from July 1998. https://www.mixcloud.com/Chalkster/bishop-auckland-rugby-club-july-1998-dean-anderson/
  22. £4k plus should be the price for a really rare record, not just a DJ's got to when dance floor empty type record. It is yet more proof that far too many have too much spare cash. I agree what they spend it on is up to them but surely some common sense has to return to record collecting at some point?
  23. I thought the original was solid black? The boot I had late 80's/early 90's was brown see through with the date stamp. I know the dealer who paid top dollar and who sold them to him lol, he gave him the money back though
