Poll: Cd Buying in 2018
Too much good stuff on cds for them to be ignored. Unissued etc from the likes of Ace/Kent and other such companies. Some quality new stuff too, I prefer hard copy if possible rather than a download or streaming.

how-to tell original records
Get your hands dirty as they say, look at everything on the label and in the run out grooves, discogs and 45cat can help with identification as do many other places. Forums are very good for asking questions, no matter how daft they seem, not just here but facebook especially has some excellent informative groups and instagram is getting more and more popular. Many collectors with a vast amount of knowledge who are more than happy.

Whatâs the biggest track playing out at the moment
Certainly not mate. Just saying that it isn't just the mainstream that is years behind and that most of the big records have been around for many years now. The biggest tracks are the ones that have been popular for some years on both sides of the 60s/northern scene. I heard newer stuff at the weekend and they clear the floor even though they are/were IMO better dancers. So in answer to the original question the biggest records are still the same ones as before.

Whatâs the biggest track playing out at the moment
It'll never happen as the scene is not as simple as 60s, 70s or 80s anymore. It is far more diverse.

Whatâs the biggest track playing out at the moment
Some of the so called upfront/rare scene Djs are ten years behind. Getting the records the likes go Butch, Andy etc had years ago, or the funky edge crap that wasn't considered good enough years ago and they think they are cutting edge.

Whatâs the biggest track playing out at the moment
How can you say out isn't a dance floor winner? Packs the floor whenever I have seen it played and more and more Djs getting behind it, 3k a copy, fckin barmy.

Whatâs the biggest track playing out at the moment
10/15 years after Rod it went for big money or began to after it had been revived. Quite a lot of copies out there too, more than people realise.

Whatâs the biggest track playing out at the moment
First played early 90s. Revived early 2000s by Andy Dyson then hammered by all who could get a copy.

The harlem gospel travelers he's on time
At same time I think though not 100%

Whatâs the biggest track playing out at the moment
Papa Bear is a floorpacker for Ted Massey, Ginger etc. Was revived at Lifeline early 2000s and subsequently hammered by anyone who could get one of the many copies out there. Very few big new discoveries, if any, certainly mainstream.

Record Store Day 2018 21st April
All the companies focus on now is fleecing the customer. It was a good thing as it gave record stores a massive boost, I guess they still do to some degree.

Soul Junction latest release Chuck Stephens Paying For Your Love
Press Release: Chuck Stephens âPaying For Your Love/Letâs Get Nastyâ SJ1011 Release Date: Monday 9th April 2018 Listen whilst reading: SJ1011 - Chuck Stephens Promo.mp3 Chuck Stephens originally hailed from upstate New York reputedly Buffalo. He was during the mid 1970âs one of the leading disc jockeyâs on the popular New York radio station WWRL AM. Chuck had always hankered with the aspiration of being a recording artist and in the pursuit of his dream approached the respected New York songwriting team of brothers Richard and Robert Poindexter. Following an invitation from The Poindexterâs Chuck began to stage rehearsals at their home. Once the Poindexterâs felt Chuck was ready they took him into the studio to record one of their many compositions, âLetâs Get Nasty. âLetâs Get Nastyâ b/w âGirl I Want To Make Love To Youâ was to gain a release on The East Coast label during 1975. The Poindexterâs then recorded a further two songs on Chuck both Richard and Robert compositions along with a third songwriter Jacqueline Members, who became the wife of Robert Poindexter. The songs in question were the excellent mid tempo outing âCoffeeâ backed with the sublime and currently in demand modern soul dance track, â(Iâm Still) Paying For Your Loveâ to use its original working title, although the â(Iâm Still)â was later omitted from its released title. âCoffee/Paying For Your Loveâ although being released on the Leo Mini label (LS-110A) during1977 had in fact been recorded within a few months of Chucks âLetâs Get Nastyâ release and had remained in the can until the Leo Mini release. Chuck Stephensâs work came to the attention of the UK Rare/Northern Soul scene during 1975 as an import new release 45. When it was picked up and championed by legendary Blackpool Mecca Disc Jockey Colin Curtis firstly mixing it in with other new release and current spins of the day. At the time the Mecca Saturday night soul sessions always finished off with the last record of the night Young-Holt Unlimitedâs Brunswick records outing âCalifornia Montageâ a Dave Grusin penned song that featured as part of the soundtrack of 1969 Paul Newman film âThe Winningâ. With the Mecca only running to a 2am finish a lot of the audience would leave before 1am to go on to various all night venues. It was at this point that the aforementioned DJ Colin Curtis went on to create the term âThe last Hour Mecca Soundâ. In doing so Colin changed the dynamics of The Mecca from the more traditional northern soul sound and used the last hour to experiment with different styles, tempos, new releases and album tracks of which many became to be regarded as all time classicâs. One being Chuck Stephenâs âLetâs Get Nastyâ which Colin promoted to the last record of the night in favour of Young-Holtâs âCalifornia Montageâ Soul Junction now presents to you, Chuck Stephens most popular two songs back to back. News: NORTHERN SOUL SAVED MY LIFE
Whatever floats her boat and those who like her, but it isnât about the scene is it, it isnât northern soul nor IMO is what this forum should be about, just further dumbing down of the music. If she is that good why not do something original.

Royalties...who gets what?
Whoever own the rights will get the royalties, usually the large conglomerates like BMG, Sony etc. Highly unlikely the artist gets anything, unless of course they own the rights outright which is doubtful.
