  1. Hard to compare on the phone but he does sound different to the Jay and the Techniques vocal, yes more white but there are similarities, 28 seconds on the Jay vocals and about 33 seconds on the acetate where the vocals strains that little bit. I’ll have to look fir a Scott English vocal to compare.
  2. Will see if she gets back to me Robb, was from 2016 and she was 80 then.
  3. It does sound similar to the lead on Jay and the Techniques, maybe another unissued take?
  4. She left an email address so I have emailed her and asked.
  5. someone must be desperate. VG-/G only? Hardly "rare" either.
  6. what Maura said..... 1 Maura Jackson Mardi 23 Août 2016 à 03:21 Whom ever you are, my name is Maura Jackson. I Was President of Tri-em Records, Maurice was my husband, deceased May 30, 1979. Maurci (Jackson) was my daughter age 4 at the time we named the label aussi deceased January 8 , 2002 of beast cancer .. Dennis Turner is deceased. I Heard from Michael Hiller few years ago purpose Was Unable to contact him back. I saw Oliver Locke a number of years ago and that's all the contact I've had with any them since. But Michael contacted me to let me know the music was all over the internet. We had three labels: Maurci: the major one, Tri-Em: for the gospel, etc. and one called Three Jades. I lost copies of all my records many years ago and was searching online for "Come on Let's Party" when I came across you talking about Maurci Records and the Three Jades. I thought I would introduce myself. And oh yes, I,ii be eighty tomorrow. Yours sincerely, Maura Jackson, Tri Em Record Productions
  7. He did own it along with his wife and the label named after their daughter. I read this in a message on line from his wife in response to some writing about something or other to do with the Three Jades. She also named the Three Jades.
  8. Not sure about more knowledgeable mate, everyone has knowledge others don't...just a question of sharing it to get the full picture.
  9. Can't tell you who Monique was Maurci was the daughter of Maurice and Maura Jackson.
  10. Richard had at the same time or very soon after so it is said.
  11. I have a great interest in the history surrounding the scene and love to know who what where when etc and I always give credit where credit is due. I've seen too may Johnny come lately's trying to take credit for something they don't rightly deserve, not so much on here but other social media.
  12. I don't think any are forgotten though are they, all are staple soul scene plays IMO. Happy has been played constantly then as you say got hammered on the back of Ferrel Williams for some reason. Not just your selection though, a lot mentioned are far from forgotten.
  13. The quest for new discoveries in every era ensured much shite was played. Thankfully, in my era anyway they soon got dropped.
  14. There is a very good reason why some of these are forgotten......
  15. Rudy Harvey was also a Dj at KDFJ and owned ither labels around the same time, Amazon etc. He could have had a hand in the label?
  16. Nov 1981, highly unlikely it was played and the one who probably would have played it had left after the first “last” all-nighter in September. Played at Clifton Hall and Stafford.
  17. Mercedes Music seems common for the first batch of releases at least, find out who owns that and that if possible.
  18. This week, well last week, 23rd August, Dean was joined by Bamberg Soul Shakers very own Malayka and Guy Hennigan for three hours of choice music and chat.
  19. No hope for some then if you can’t use some imagination at home
  20. Even with the 1000s of records at your disposal you’d still pick a set of over played oldies? Why bother?
  21. Same track Matt. I Need A Helping Hand/Are you Angry on Wind Hit came first. Got little interest on hawking it round the various labels so Hadley released it himself. The group then cut 4 more tracks in October 1967 and My Turn was released alongside I Need A Helping Hand on Patheway. The Patheway release had three presses, Cartoon with labels reversed, labels the right way and the plain orange release. Wind Hit very rare with it is believed just 200 copies pressed. Another excuse to plug my story about them.... https://www.soulunderground.co.uk/page1/Servicemen/
  22. Vinyl one is real. Nice thick vinyl too if memory serves?
  23. All the historical evidence suggests £150. If you put up a want and said £500 waiting you’d probably have got dozens of offers of a copy, absolutely barmy. The market is getting more and more skewed everyday.
  24. Because usually European dealers think you wont pay the postage from the US and mark the disc up or add the US postage thinking you buy from a Brit regardless. Same with just about any record on discogs, Brit dealers at the bottom of the list as the most expensive.
  25. It is a delta numbering system used by Monarch, it isn’t exclusively used by them nor did they own it. Each pressing company that use it will have their own stamp, Monarch has MR in a circle. Alco has an “a” with a large L that goes into a c with an inside the c. These stamps will be followed by the delta sign, a triangle and then the delta number from which you can date the press. Its also wrong to believe that if something is common it wouldn’t be booted. On this (the northern soul) scene, that may be the case. But many hits in the US were counterfeited and thats where the crimianls made a lot of money selling then with the buter believing they had bought a legit company release. Their is plenty of evidence of Motown records being counterfeited at the time they were charting.
