  1. Ray Haggins sings lead on the Sound Masters sides, he does sound similar to Morris. Neither side of the Mala release are Morris on lead, sound nothing like him to my ears. The Mala and Attractions (Why Shouldn't A Man Cry) release are the same month and year (Oct 67) according to 45 Cat, Morris was busy but wouldn't have thought he was that busy. No mention of the Mala release in any bio I have read about Morris either?
  2. So apart from what Graham says we don't know who the Mala group or its members are?
  3. Trying to find the topic without much success, got a link?
  4. Discogs has the Rotations on Mala and Frantic being the same act and from New Jersey. I'm not so sure that the Mala group are or were the Attractions who were West Coast? Mala group from Discogs: Albert DeMagnes, Leona Harden, Arlene Dixon, & Miriam Carter were the Rotations from New Jersey, USA. Attractions: Morris Chestnut, (David or Robert) Jones (once of the Soundmasters), Bledsoe & Smith. Anyone confirm the line ups or add etc
  5. Issue 6, thanks to @Jessie Pinkman R-Soul 6.pdf
  6. A second mix this month, aren't we lucky. It starts and ends with a tracks as a tribute to Vincent Bonham, he of Energy MC2 who recently passed. We also take a look at the forthcoming Holland-Dozier-Holland Songbook from Kent and their recent Atlanta CD. There is a couple of tracks from the legend that is Jesse James who is back with a brand new album to be released on Seoul Junction along with the recent Oliver Cheatham 45 from the label. 8. Stamper probably wearing out. Also looks like Nashville Mains when badly worn.
  9. And too many take those unsold prices as a value these days. I’m not sure how they got from £43 to almost £200 with no history of those kind of prices.
  10. Looks very interesting, look forward to it.
  11. Major companies whatever their industry won’t be happy until they have no wages to pay, everything done by robot or AI. I want no part of it. What happened to personality & creativity? The TV show Walking Dead will soon be reality, we are slowly becoming zombies. Heads in phones, even at venues and little communication between two human beings
  12. Terribly sad news. Met Kev through Gilly a d had some mad times with them both. Remember going to Kev many times before Bretby. R.I.P. mate
  13. My nephew is on the spectrum. He had learning difficulties and an inability to take orders, his schooling was practically zero. He would never be able to get into the collecting side of the scene as he has no ability to remember things really. Because of his unruly behaviour, probably due to a lack of understanding and specialised schooling he had trouble making friends. He got in with a gang who showed him friendship who were trouble, smoking dope which most kids seem to do these days regardless of their ability, he got into lots of trouble with the police. Thankfully he outgrew that gang, managed to find a job and hold it down after a dozen jobs he got the sack from because he wouldn’t take orders etc etc. I don’t think it is as simply as you suggest. I guess where you are on the spectrum has a lot to do how you get on in life.
  14. Thanks, just ordered some.
  15. I know a few with Autism. One doesn’t like taking orders, another doesn’t get on well in any kind of social setting, another doesn’t like much of any kind of regime. None would really be suited to the scene, certainly not in days gone by when certain people would pounce on any individual who looked lets say a little vulnerable. Clearly some did survive but I doubt that is down to the scene or any aspect of it . The love of the music is the over riding factor for the biggest majority of us.
  16. Most took drugs because a) they enjoyed them and b) they served a purpose keeping you up, not because of a condition. Because of what was taken it often resulted in a lot of ADHD through the night
  17. I don’t know anyone who found the scene because of their condition. Those I know with either ADHD or and especially autism wouldn’t do very well in a scene where it could at times be an unforgiving place. It might be all fluffy and full of divs now but it did once have an edge to it and their were people to be avoided if you wasn’t that clued up.
  18. Yes I forgot about that one tbh and like you say different mix etc
  19. There is no secrecy, it even went past 6 as folk still bidding as Frankie mentioned. All the results are also posted on his facebook group for clarity. But it is very rare and taste is subjective. Rarity alone guarantees a high price and factor in the demand for both sides will mean a higher price.
  20. The only release that is same both sides is the Soul Tribe copy, flip side being a remix but same time length. Maybe a doctored copy of one of those or a home made one?
  21. But the highest a Reo copy has sold for on there is £43
  22. I'd like to find some that fit inside a card sleeve too, have to trim them all.
  23. until

We have just three rooms left at the hotel. Two doubles and a family (a double and a single). If you fancy joining us for what promises to be two superb days of soul music then give myself a shout, be quick these won't hang around. As well as the two days of music we are hoping to have a BBQ on the Saturday, hopefully the weather will be kind this year. The hotel is in a stunning location set on the banks of the River Tees on the border between North Yorkshire and County Durham. The village on the other side of the river is or was home to a Roman settlement, the ruins can still be seen today. Just down from the hotel is the foundations of a Roman Bridge. Plenty of places to escape for a walk in the day time too along the river. Passes are available, daytime pass £15, full weekend £30.
  24. She sang it at Cleggy and Butch showed her the acetate and chatted to her about it and other things.
  25. It is Kendra Spottiswood (Sandi Sheldon) not Van. That is what she said Cleethorpes. I know Kev who found the acetate says it is Van?
