  1. I’d select records I thought appropriate for the night, other than not that much planning. I usually took a 200 box and chose from them. Yes there was some that definately would be played but no thought went into the order.
  2. Always enjoyed the more spontaneous sets rather than something that has had some planning.....go with the flow as they say
  3. I don’t really have any, I don’t think I’ve ever planned a set. I mean I do sort records for the night but never really think about what is first or what will be last. All depends on how the previous set has been received and what they floor is expecting.
  4. Yes I know its the 100 Club. The weekend Ray was on at 100 Club/Yarmouth it was @lorchand Lorraine Chandler, Eddie Parker, Pat Lewis, Garland Green and Ray Pollard. Jackie Day was also billed but she she failed to turn up? 1st flyer with earlier bookings.... amended flyer....
  5. Yes, he was at Yarmouth too
  6. Never seen a demo before mate, nice
  7. Mark Wilson sent me a copy of the video of some of the acts at Yarmouth's vauxhall Caravan Park, scene of one of the best Northern Soul Weekenders back in 1990/91 time. Several acts on this 2 hour of film, Lorraine Chandler, pat Lewis, Ray Pollard, ben E king I think....
  8. Mello Souls...guess you had to be there when it was first played, proper amphetasoul. The intro just grabs you by the bollox and pulls you to the floor. Proper all-nighter record! Still think of it as Butch's Del-larks
  9. £3705 Not sure about Patti. I will ask Tom.
  10. He can’t have been very good, all he guarded got shot
  11. Gutted I can’t make it, away with work and only found out about the date today. Sure he will have a send off as Dave would want it.
  12. It is Jimmy Radcliffe, recorded in this country I believe. I think Ion had the original studio acetate which was maybe uncredited.
  13. Rosey was also a presidential bodyguard too wasn’t he? Jimmy Gresham was part of the New Yorkers with him too.
  14. Ive made contact with Sandy, well messaged her but she doesnt seem interested and won’t reply. Nate had a stroke or something like a few years ago and also seems relectant to answer messages and emails.
  15. There was one for sale recently on here for 400, dunno if it sold.
  16. Bongos and a bit jazzy and laid back, pretty average if you ask me. Can’t for the life of me think why it is grabbing the attention of the top jocks, unless it is simply because of its obscurity?
  17. I would have thought it obvious who did it given the label name? I thought everyone knew but obviously not.
  18. By far the best quality IMO
  19. I agree there are loads out there with everything to please just about everyone. I haven’t seen a proliferation of bootleg djs at the mainstream events. Yes they might exist locally but Ive yet to hear of any names all this wanting to play the classics, many unobtainable to the masses just goes to show it is not about the music but about cock waving and massaging an ego. If you can’t do it right go at it from another angle, use some imagination and dig a little deeper, 1000s of decent records out there fit for any Dj.
  20. As said there can be a delay as the label work comes first. Always come through though with the goods. Oh and as Kegsy says, play the Lp, put the money to better use.
  21. No thats Frank Wilson.
  22. The Dusty Wilson on Bronze and Zebra, his name is Eddie Wilson.
  23. One of them had a middle nickname, that I can remember
