Benjamin I waited for the Lp.
-
I bought it because it is good, never for a second wondered how many copies were pressed, just assumed there would be a decent run done given the demand and popularity.
-
Obviously not but peope want a 7 inch piece of vinyl. Just like the download wasn’t good enough for some who wanted it on vinyl and bought the later issue on Lp.
-
I’m not giving advice but there was a hell of a lot of complaints on facebook where Andy was corresponding too. Dealers have been inundated with requests for the disc but had sold out. The flipside wasn’t issued by Expansion. It isn’t just this country that there is demand and there isn’t just the northern scene wanting this, why they would want it anyway I’m not sure when similar sort of recordings faren’t deemed good enough for a northern night. There is a demand and looks like the label are simp,y attempting to meet that demand. Andy said it was never meant to be an immediate rarity.
-
I think they have listened to concerns and complaints. I son’t think Andy who pressed them thought they would sell like they did. OVO now comes into it, you can see it with the comments about will it be the same or will it look different. Ridiculous really.
-
You have a master plate that goes through a process and from this mother plates are created. From this mother more father plates are made and these are the stampers. The original father or master goes on the shelf. The stampers will press say a 1000 copies before they wear out. The mother can produce half a dozen sets of stampers I think before that wears out. They then make another mother plate from the master. Unless a brand new master is made with different matrix, and the original master is continually used then doesn’t matter how many runs are done they are all original first press. Not the exact process but it gives you an idea think about chart records, those that sell millions, they don’t press them all in one go, they are done on demand. Initial pre orders will be satisfied with extra if pre orders are good and they will then press more as they sell.
-
Does it really matter if it is the same or not, it is a new release, it should be about the music and not what some greedy part time dealer can make out of someone. People would rather see their own greed protected than others getting a copy of a brand new recording. I hope some get their fingers burnt, it will serve them right. It should never be about the collector and people exploiting others. If it was limited to one copy each that would be fine, but no people buy multiple copies to expolit others I hope the second run is from the same master and they look identical.
-
If it is from the same master it will still be a first press. It will only be a reissue if a new master with a new matrix number etc is used.
-
me thinks one or two are on a wind up here! Why should the ovo rule (even though it is a ridiculous rule) be relaxed? You can either do it right or not and if you can’t then leave it to those who can. Why does everyone feel they have to be a Dj?

Jay Nemor & Electrified - Mother Got A Way - Tesla Groove Records
Chalky posted an article in News Archives
Tesla Groove a record label born out of Cannonball Records founded by Alberto Zanini in Italy. Cannonball found success initially with the release of Big Lee Dowell and “What I Done Wrong” which was a massive dancefloor winner. Further excellent releases cemented the labels place in the Soul market across Europe and indeed the World, often taking basic demo recordings and adding backing from the labels own in house band with authentic 60s recording equipment, giving listeners a sound as near to the original records as possible. Despite the success for the label Alberto wanted more and from this yearning Tesla Groove was set up with Dave Thorley to record and promote more contemporary artists and give them a platform to showcase their talents. Alberto assembled a quality in house band, arranging and production team. Luca Zannoni joined the arrangement patrol in full service, Drummer Cesare Barbi, guitar maestro Richi “the Kid” Landini, Davide Rossi, top level bass player and now in charge of all the final mixing at both Cannonball Records and Tesla Groove International Recordings and, last but not least , they welcomed onboard one of the most powerful and professional brass sections that ever stepped on an Italian stage, Corrado Terzi and Enrico Guastalla. This team is better known as Electrified. It was then that Jay Nemor came to the attention of the team. They listened to his previous material and compositions he had ready, they liked what they heard and saw and promptly signed Jay to the new label in January 2018. Born Jason Nemor Harden on the 4th August 1971 in Houston, Texas. He is now better known as Jay Nemor, a multi-talented artist, not only a quality vocalist but a consummate songwriter, composer, producer and also skilled with both saxophone and keyboards. Jay was a professional basketball player in the States, the sport would then take him to Europe where he still resides with his family. It was whilst in Iceland playing Basketball that his love of music was sparked and the seeds of a career in Soul music were sown. He borrowed some keyboards which he learnt to play and composed several songs. In 2004 he teamed up with former Motown artist Kenya to form Kenya Nemor later to become Kenya and Nemor. As well as this duet he would work as a session musician as well as more composing and producing various acts in varying genres. A move to Oslo and later Gothenburg to try and further his career on a bigger stage with a larger market. Jay was influenced by the likes of Earth Wind and Fire, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, temptations, Bobby Womack and many more, his style is loyal to these influences, typically old school in style but also right up to date with today’s R&B/Soul market. 2018 saw Tesla Groove and Jay’s first release. Jay’s rich silky-smooth soulful vocals were put to self-penned lyrics, “There Are No Winners”. Jay’s early influences, artists who had a strong social conscience and whose lyrics conveyed a strong social message within, often about the injustices in this world, show throughout Jay’s work, singing “Even When You Win You Lose”. The first 45 was a good solid start for the label receiving extensive airplay across Europe with support from celebrities such as Craig Charles whose audience is massive. Alberto, Dave and Electrified worked hard with Jay over the months and the result will be both Tesla Groove’s and Jay’s second release. Again self penned with production arrangement and musicianship supplied by Electrified, “Mother Got A Way” is the resulting single. As with Jay’s first 45 for Tesla Groove, it is another song with a social message, Jay’s soulful vocal and the Italian sophistication of Electrified, telling is about the need for all the latest fads and fashion right there and then, it tells us to find a way to help ourselves, you won’t get no help from others. Look out for the release in February at Teslagroove.com and your usual stockists. Hopefully, 2019 will be a fruitful one for Tesla and Jay and other artists if the right ones can be found. An album for Jay is already in the planning stages and hopefully some live appearances as well. The future is looking bright for Tesla Groove! Superlatives - New Jersey and Detroit Groups
Chalky replied to Blackpoolsoul's topic in All About the SOUL
The above info came from a previous topic (the second link Mike posted above) and you missed the last sentence which kinda verifies where the info came from. -
Wouldn’t be soul source if it didn’t go off on a tangent, but the original question was relevant given the same christian name.
-
I asked for and got a refund when the first lot were cancelled, had a feeling then the shows wouldn’t happen. Hope his health improves though.
-
The James is Gary James along with Billy Dalton and Ray Sutton.
-
need to see if I can forget it again
-
-
He doesn’t have to hide his name as a writer, I don’t think he was a staff writer in 64 and if Jobete/Motown didn’t use his work then he can use it elsewhere. Why Eddie, not sure, maybe under contract as a singer at Motown then?
-
It is Frank Wilson using a pseudonym
-
The Dusty on Mutt sounds the same to my ears as the one on Bronze, Judas and Zebra. I’m only listening on ipad but tney sound the same and always assumed they were one and the same.
-
@ady croasdell some of yours amongst this lot of dodgy discs
-
Top one is the promo of the bottom one, looks like a plastic products press out of memphis. The other is styrene I think and probably east coast press at a guess. Plug side as said and not for sale denote promo.
-
I would have said UK issue is rarer than the demo.
-
A lot of collections are already coming to market especially top end items. Also worth noting, Some prices are decided by who is playing a record and not by its rarity.

I stupidly included an Lp track in the mix, I did think at the time it was an Lp track but didn't check.
