  1. A must for every soul music fan
  2. Mastered, it was a recording studio.
  3. I have the 45 and the CD, might get the vinyl LP as well.....I know I need help!
  4. Best new release so far this year for me
  5. Moses Smith “Come on and let me love you”?
  6. April 1965 for Lou apparently
  7. Sure I read somewhere they did, or some did. But if they didn’t sell then there would be no royalties generated.
  8. They actually didn’t ship them anywhere and often left all copies in storage, they didn’t want to sell them. That was the scam. Often it was a sub label set up by its parent company, they also did their own distribution (allegedly) and deliberately run at a loss to avoid paying taxes on the money it actually did make....or something like that. they only ended up abroad when record hounds would find the stock years later.
  9. How much, how many?
  10. Definitely some fraudulent bidding, reported the item.
  11. I also reached out to Cholly but like you no response. It didn’t look like he was very active on FB or he didn’t have much idea how to use it?
  12. Thank you for clarifying Keith. I look forward to its release.
  13. Not enough hours in the day
  14. Are these 90s, 00s?
  15. I’ve been told Keith was part of the lecture team at Salford university when they did a lecture about the scene. Ady Croasdell spoke too. I have all the notes and recordings somewhere. it will have to be good to come close to what is already on offer but if its aim is academic then it won’t worry too many. Either way I look forward to its publication.
  16. No one knows everything, we are all learning every day or should be if yer doung it right. With the amount of records there is, even the most knowledgable can be forgiven for either not knowing something or forgetting what something is. As I get older I’m forgetting records I haven’t heard for sometime so I’m sure it is the same for others.
  17. Thanks Rick. Its actually the first I’ve heard of the book and would have been happy to help. i’ve begun researching the 80s onwards for a book but I have little free time given the hours I work (60-70 and away all week) but I am working in it.
  18. Don’t care who they are tbh, just as long as they or anyone else does a thorough job. I have a huge interest in the history of the scene especially post Wigan and would be glad to help in any way I can.
  19. But if you state you have written or writing a book which is "A History Of Northern Soul" it is bound to cause some interest. I was curious and he might get more help.
  20. From the Big Daddy mag..
  21. Not just Northern but he seemed to know what was wanted regionally. What they wanted at Cleethorpes, what they wanted at Wigan etc etc.
  22. I did ask previously but no reply as of yet what part of the scene it covers? There is very good historical books already, the Wheel (Central) and of course the scene up to the end of Wigan (The In Crowd). There is one covering the period after too but some facts are inaccurate. What depth will the book go in to, especially about the period after Wigan which covers more years than before Wigan closed. Will it just be a rehash of what has been said already by the media? What research was involved, who provided the factual information, venues, dates, Djs, promoters involved etc, is it an academic or a book for all.
  23. Jimmy Mack on Hamster has been discussed and who he was has been mentioned previously on here. It is as Robb says Jimmy McMillan. https://www.rentistoodamnhigh.org/index.html Greg Tormo was the first to my knowledge who said it was McMillan. https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/227645-jimmy-mack-a-woman-is-so-hard-to-understand/
  24. He did but I bet the likes of Chuck Jackson and Carla Thomas are up for sale soon at a three figure sum. I’ve sold most lately cheapest £40. Same for Horace releases cheapest £30, some 60/70.
