  1. The MAM release is also very rare There are a few different takes a out on acetate and the couple of releases.
  2. I like what I heard so I bought one
  3. Surprised there are some left given only 25 with the 45s
  4. The last three weeks of The Sound Of Soul ™
  5. Hi Tena. good luck with what you are trying to do. Do you have the master tapes or the rights to the recordings?
  6. Cliff Steele one of the first onto The Roland Johnson, who I got my copy from. have the Devonns on pre order
  7. I will check when I get home, they are the tough ones I think.
  8. The scene lost two of its characters today. Legendary 6ts figures Roger Stewart and Jim Eddleston have passed away. Sad day for the scene. R.I.P.
  9. We’re they northern etc, who was the person who died?
  10. Was something over Facebook about it and having the records stolen
  11. One or two issues are pretty hard to come by
  12. Factionalism has always been there on the scene. Right back to the Wheel as the scene split from the mods to northern I have seen quotes that are disparaging from one group to another.
  13. Excellent album, a mate tipped me off a couple of months or so ago.
  14. I think Dim is pretty much spot on with his opinion of other books detailing the various authors lives on the scene. As Stephen Riley is a lecturer and a writer this looks like it may have some depth to it so I will probably invest in the kindle version.
  15. Art work accounts for most of the costs.
  16. Maybe not but it is twice the going rate for a cd and download. Is the cd a homemade thing or professionally produced?
  17. I’m all for supporting the artist but not when they rip off or exploit their “fans”., especially as I said for something that isn't that special which I would want for the price being asked. If others happy then nothing wrong with that but I feel by asking twice the going rate for a download the artist is perhaps missing out on sales?
  18. Have I said it isn’t ok? Buy what you like. I was simply questioning the logic behind how it was released and the price. It’ll no doubt sell out but I wouldn’t pay that sort of money, for the cd nor the download, for something that is pretty average. It won’t be the quality that sells it either, it is people buying it cause there is only 50, thinking they have a rarity and will be worth more than they pay. It won't be because of the music. original form? What makes the cd more original than the download? Both released simultaneously, both play through the same speakers etc,
  19. There is no evidence of soul flip records on a company check, if it is legal they are under a different name but I somehow doubt it . Nothing on the label to say licensed etc and there usually is
  20. Looks a different set up to what I was thinking but still don't think they are legit. Probably some copyright infringement with the logo too. We did discuss them a while back.
  21. Its a boot, those who were jailed I believe behind it play the cd or the box set one, anything else a boot
  22. They were accidentally picked up by another DJ I think, he found them in his bag and text Eddie to say he had them. All will be returned that is all that matters.
  23. Eddie has posted on Facebook that his records have been found.
  24. LP only except for the odd foreign (Argentinian release). The Lp should be reasonable priced still.
  25. This scene is far too trusting, it is by and large very friendly but it attracts people from all walks of life and just like the real world its share of scumbags. There is a lot of shit that happens which a lot are unaware of and ignorant too, usually because they focus solely on the social aspect. But when you Dj, promote or have any involvement that goes further than simply turning up, having a dance and going home you get exposed to it and it isn't always pleasurable. Just about every Dj opens his or her box and trust those around them to not pinch anything but as Kev says there are opportunists about and given the chance they will be in. Juts about every Dj leaves there records under a table behind the decks, if you have a few Djs there is an awful lot of money up there and promoters need to up security now.
