  1. Cheers Mark, once I get my act together I'll come calling
  2. Dean Anderson's lockdown blues remedy, My Life In 10. Mark Wilson & Tim Ashibende give us very insightful views into their life with 10 great musical choices each.
  3. In my head I am writing but working 60-70 hours every week and demands from elsewhere it is finding the time. I'm plodding on researching, archiving etc.
  4. according to Frank, Connie was a session singer he found
  5. You can read many books on the early mod and soul scene and there is a lot of displeasure from the mods in the direction those who were turning to Northerm were taking the clubs. In the end they both went their own way with clubs eventually becoming all northern soul with little if any of the mod way of life prevailing.
  6. Mine is still in transit from Chicago somewhere, posted 6th April.
  7. If you read some of the history of the early scene the “Mods” did not like the direction the soul boys were taking the scene. How I read it was yes they had a part to play in its formative years but there was definitely a split late 60s with those who were firmly rooted in the rare 60s/northern going one way and the Mods who were R&B, both British and American & pop going another. There is many a quote from Mods which you could take and attribute to the protagonists in other splits down the years, Wigan & Mecca, soul & funk, oldies & newies, rare & retro today etc. like I say that is how I read it.
  8. Think it's the Pointdexter Brothers who are heavily involved?
  9. The Icemen on Vest is a red label, trying to find a scan which I know I used to have.
  10. Flo Mar is Florence and either Scepter Wand vice-president Marvin Schlacter or her daughter I believe.
  11. The Icemen had a release on Vest as well, Le's Play That Song/ You Got A Style Of Your Own - Vest No Vest. Very rare.
  12. who was behind the Vest release?
  13. The Tra-San Production on the Icemen is George Kerr and named after his daughters apparently. As you say some heavyweights involved in the writing & production.
  14. Last nights show (7th May 2020) Lockdown Special "My Life In 10" Chris Taylor, Stephen Morgan and Stuart Raith all share "their life in 10".
  15. As it says in the other topic.... Tan Geers: Cora Boykins (replaced by Elaine Jones) , Bobby Covington, Richard Quarles, Earle Beale and Bill Hagie TNJ's: Al Stroman, Joe Anderson, Barry Higginbotham, James Gost and Elijah Jones. There is nothing to suggest they are remotely connected except they both have a connection with Plato Productions (Ron Bollon, Plato Theophilos). Excellent reading Kegsy. I'll have another read in a bit to digest it a bit more.
  16. tape # 3
  17. Got one tape and two track listings from two other tapes given away at the nights in London. I've transferred the one by Jo and gathered the tracks together to do the other two. The first is one compiled by Jo Wallace and the second by Greg McAlinney. I'm just sorting a third done by Simon Humphrey.
  18. A live recording kindly provided by Mark Mellors of Clifton Hall c1981. The first Dj is Chris Brady followed by Richard Searling and his then monster sounds.
  19. mines back to "in transit" its scheduled for delivery on Wednesday originally so will see if that happens
  20. This weeks show with three more listeners giving their Life in 10 records.
  21. I think it is a fab release and the flip is simply superb. Trouble with the original, for a record that isn't really rare it has been taken away from the pockets of most by people paying daft prices, too many Djs wanting it. This is one I have bought, I have all the releases on the label, not that I will play it out mind.
  22. Kent always to my knowledge done test presses. A mate had the early Anniversary ones on test press and I’ve seen these the before for other releases. Kent/ace promos were as far as I know the standard issue. @Ady Croasdell will tell you more.
  23. The record has been played pretty much constantly throughout my time and its massive again these days.
  24. The promo is a boot though, well not an original. Only ever released with the Lp on the blue/green label.
