  1. Quite a few Tapes Swapper tapes have been upload recently. The latest is courtesy of Scotland's Mark Wilson and one used to promote the Dynamic 3 Soul Club. And other one featuring some of Rob Marriott's then crackers to follow.
  2. I have three issues, 1, 2 and 4. I will scan them when I can find the time, might be over Christmas though. I need a copy of issue 2 if anyone can help?
  3. I disagree. Many records have a searchable history and most collectors and dealers know the estimated rarity or otherwise of most records. Why would you auction a record that has been at or around a certain price for years, why not simply set sale it?
  4. There is very little 60s turning up or being released now. The rest of the new releases are getting poorer in quality and I've stopped buying a lot, the unreleased stuff seems to have just about dried up. The newer stuff many are computerised instruments and many of the vocals are pretty poor. The Daptone and similar labels all seem to be trying to produce throwback type groups all sounding the same.
  5. But Mike was pretty prolific around Detroit at the time. You cannot assume one person is another just by the credits. Just like you can't assume there is a connection between artists that recorded for the same production team, there has to be some/more evidence to say one singer is also another singer.
  6. Richard again mentioned on his show on Sunday that Jimmy Soul Clark is Jimmy Mack. No idea of the basis to this.
  7. It may have been my old acetate. The titles will come to me, they are on the Pvine Lp but slightly different takes. PS Just seen Mick's post and Baz M's comment.
  8. There was a lot who came to the scene in the 80s and many still here, collectors & dancers as well.
  9. DEAN ANDERSON presents THE SOUND OF SOUL™ 28th November 24 8 -10pm **LIVE CHAT EVERY WEEK** On this show were scheduled to be joined by the legendary recording artists Randy Brown. Unfortunately due to ill health Randy is unable to be with us tonight. I am sure you are aware of the busy schedule Randy has been enduring things have caught up with him. You will have to make do with Gez and myself!
  10. Colin is the label owner’s name?
  11. Probably because the nights in Nottingham are run by veterans and aimed and marketed at veterans. No young Djs as such and no marketing like Bristol has.
  12. Premier League will never disappear. National leagues are the lifeblood of these clubs and deep down they know it, a club cannot survive without fans and on TV money alone. The current format gives the clubs two extra games if memory serves? The current format not strictly a league as they don't play each other, there is a draw and it has only replaced the mini leagues we previously had which most of the time were meaningless. I much preferred the European Cup, Eufa and Cup Winners Cup format though.
  13. Let’s see where they all are in a few years time when work and family stress and strain kicks in. We saw it with the bunch who came when the film was about, mostly all disappeared now. Lets be honest, Bristol, London and other large cities have large student populations and if you can’t fill a venue in these places then you are doing something wrong.
  14. When it was first mooted Jimmy Mack was JSC I listened to both and felt they weren’t the same singer. As far as I am aware there was no evidence to say they were the same, just a hunch.
  15. As Kev says the previous format was far too predictable with far too many games no having to matter. The new format has proved far more exciting for the fans with every game seems to matter. A lot of goals too. Real used to simply cost through to their group games, they can’t do that now and are only just in the play off positions, PSG are out as it stands. Only three teams not got a point.
  16. Jimmy Soul Clark theory, not sure there is any fact behind it, more a belief rather than evidence based. I think if it was him someone would have known?
  17. I think that is Richard Searling’s belief?
  18. West Midlands I think
  19. I guess it was down to cost? I don't know tbh. They are still good records regardless how they were done, I don't like them all but two are particularly good. Label name, dunno?
  20. But back to my original point, until it was said AI was used everyone was saying many wonderful things about the records, including how soulful they were.
  21. As far as I am aware all who can or could be traced and asked have been asked. No one seems to know anything about him. Tis a proper mystery.
  22. Most I bet are stolen by those delivering them. It doesn't help with the poor pay the delivery folk get and the time given for a huge amount of deliveries. Leaving them on doorstep etc. They should be handed over to the buyer or taken back unless specific instructions given. Just leaving them on the doorstep for all to see is crazy.
  23. Before these records were revealed to be using AI everyone was saying how great they were, not one person said that AI had been used because not one person could tell. I knew they were recent recordings, and as pointed out to me by a mate using lyrics that wouldn't necessarily be used back in say the 60s or 70s. whilst I agreemtom a certain extent, almost every soul record begins life with the writer of said record, the vocalist simply interprets what the writer wants expressing. That is exactly were these records started life, they weren't written using AI, they were written by the composer for his partner and based on life's experiences.
  24. This weeks show with Gavin, Ross and Brian from Edinburgh’s La Beat Soul Club
