  1. I didn't know about the Jiffy bag thing, Royal Mail will do anything these days to squirm out of actually coughing up for damage/loss caused by their appalling service, despite happily charging extra for the insurance. Recorded Delivery is the biggest rip off there is, most stuff sent to me just gets pushed through the letter box. I've complained and been told "well it's only recorded delivery". Special Delivery is the only service I trust but it is ridiculously expensive particularly when it only ensures Royal Mail actually do what they are supposed to do in the first place. Evidently diamond dealers did away with all the extra charges years ago and just use the ordinary post as it is really safe if your package doesn't look expensive. Difficult to disguise a 45 though.
  2. Nothing worse than a limited edition being released cheaper the following month as a non-limited edition. If I could be bothered I'd get in touch with trading standards.
  3. Snap! Lol Didn't watch the clip to the end, limited attention span these days; too much to listen to.
  4. Personally I would think that hardly anyone under the age of 50 would associate those dancers, Pharrel or the song with the Northern Soul scene (whatever that is these days). People probably think that circle skirts and putting badges on a vest is the new new thing, they will be in top shop (or wherever young people shop) in a month. I didn't watch the Brits as the music they represent has no relevance to me, modern music must be in sh*t state if David Bowie can win Best Male artist for that rubbish he put out early last year. off to resort my 45s into label colour order.
  5. FFS! I don't think I paid that much for my original, this is a tenner re-issue and clearly stated: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Listen-60s-NORTHERN-Rufus-Wonder-Additions-Under-The-Moon-LANDO-Mint-/371005297498?_trksid=p2054897.l4275
  6. I remember recording the contents of my sales box on to mini disc and taking a portable player to Cleethorpes with me, late 90's I think. When I asked people if they wanted to listen to anything and offered them the player and headphones, most people thought I had just landed from outer space :-)
  7. I'd never heard this before and so when I got to a post with a clip in it I said to my dear wife "I'm just going to play a tune that went for over 3000 dollars on ebay". I started the clip and 30 seconds in she said "that's awful!" - and she is right, in fact it is a complete mess of a tune. Tunes should bought with your ears not your wallet IMHO, but I know nothing about rare records. I hear things and am then usually disappointed when I find out how much a copy will cost me. I only played this because my taste in records is usually unerringly expensive, happily I'll never need a copy :-)
  8. The guy who found the Four Tracks just bunged them on ebay with all the other stuff he had found (inc Valtones -Some Good), he had no idea what he had. If the first hadn't been bid up to 800+ dollars or so, they could have been had for peanuts -he started everything off at 4.99 I think. After the first he the listed one a week starting at 600 and did some private deals as well. I don't think he had more than a 25 box of the four tracks and they have all disappeared now.
  9. I actually like bulk record finds, I'd never have a mint Danny Moore otherwise. Somebody found a box of tony Hestor - Just can't leave you demos and I bought one of those too, think it was $150 - absolutely mint. Wish I'd bought one of the Four Tracks on Mandingo, just love the tune, a couple of people bought two and sold the spare to pay for the first. Please keep digging and find a couple of boxes of Chico lamarr!
  10. I thought it was either? and my names not Rolf
  11. I suppose I should have asked this before Christmas as then it would have been a half decent pun, but has anyone thought of putting on a northern silent niter in the same manner as a silent disco? People bringing their own music to listen to on ipods or similar. Everyone could hear what they wanted all night, no arguments about format, no DJ's needed, no complaints from the neighbours about the noise. What's not to like? It could be the new new thing!
  12. These are now appearing on amazon & ebay at £100+
  13. Who on earth paid over £350 for the invitations! Not in the least rare, even I've had 4 copies (at prices from £30 to £70). The £70 is what I paid JM off his site around 2001 and it goes through eBay pretty regularly too (one on there now, $150 mint) I wonder if some of these buyers pay someone to put the records on their turntables for them so they don't have to lean forward?
  14. I thought every track was brilliant, it's a great box set.
  15. Distinct smell of bullsh*t coming from this thread now! apparently a big boy did it and ran away. Lol
  16. $50 But the hotel lost my Boss suit so it sort of evened up
  17. Many thanks all, much appreciated. Went back the next day for the other one but the guy's mate denied all knowledge of it, record dealers eh?

  19. Absolutely agree with this, if you let him refund you the way he has and send the record somewhere else, you will find you are minus the record and he will charge back the refund. He can then correctly state to eBay that he hasn't received the record and you will only have proof of sending it to a completely different address. Did he use eBay messaging to arrange this "refund"? If not you will have no proof of anything. Just start a case and escalate it, return the record to the address you have got using recorded or special delivery and ebay will refund you. If he doesn't accept the record it will be returned to you anyway. I had one case where the record sat for 3 weeks in the sorting office after multiple attempts to deliver and was then returned to me, ebay still refunded me as I had done everything correctly.
  20. I've had this about 12 years now, found it in San Francisco, and although I asked at the time I thought I should probably ask again given a bit more time to consider things. I think this is an East coast demo which I found on the West coast and I was a bit dubious about it as whilst I was looking at it the guy produced another then asked me which one I would like (emphasis on one). I've included a scan which should be big enough to see the label clearly and the dead wax. in the dead wax there is a scratched "P-140 B" followed by an "s" in a circle (other side has "P-140 A"), there is also a stamp which says "Mastered by Frankford/Wayne". Thanks for any help given.
  21. Who cares about the future of the Northern Soul scene? I couldn't give a flying f*ck. I buy records for my own enjoyment and the scene is just incidental. Wouldn't mind a dance now and again though but that's all.
  22. How would they discern between someone selling a collection that they have built up over years and someone who has bought a load of records cash to sell trying to legitimise the money? I couldn't explain where or when I bought all mine if I decided to sell them. I know people who have hidden money in records and I know that paypal shut down accounts that have a sudden amount of money through them but it isn't difficult to open multiple accounts, I have three for example. Not arguing, just interested :-)
  23. I believe Butch played this out a year or so ago and the price went up to 25 for a while as everyone had to have one.
