  5. Thanks Kirsty, I think I'll give Pat a call. I've dealt with him before and he's always been great. I've spoken to him a few times at do's so he may remember me, I'll let you know how it goes. Could you PM me his number please? Thanks Paul
  6. I live near Thirsk, North Yorkshire so York, Leeds, Teeside etc are all easy travelling, But I can email scans of the record and packaging so any dealer with headed paper could do it really. I don't want to bug someone to help I'd rather they PM me and agree to it. It's not a lot of money, its more the principle really as the seller's attitude stank. Thanks Paul
  7. How do you manage to type with that large spoon in your hand?
  8. Thanks but it's not the value that is at issue as I can only claim what I paid for it. I actually need a statement on headed paper regarding the actual item, specifically an independent confirmation of the damage. I am also disputing on the basis of "not as described" in that the seller stated he would use a heavy duty mailer and didn't. I could do with an additional statement regarding the packaging. My missus can draft up what is required but the statement must come from an independent third party. I can also bring the item & packaging to anyone who is prepard to do this for inspection. Cheers Paul
  9. Hi, this post is to do with my previous thread on record packaging where I received a copy of Jimmy Burns - I Tried that was cracked due to poor packaging. /index.php?showtopic=28491 Paypal have asked for the following: In order to continue with the investigation of your claim, we must request documentation to support your claim that the item is damaged or significantly not as described. Please obtain a document (such as an estimate or invoice) from an unbiased third-party, such as a dealer; repair shop, appraiser, or another individual or organisation that is qualified in the area of the item in question (other than yourself), which details the extent of the damage or clearly explains how the item received significantly differs from the item advertised. Please do not proceed with any repairs or alterations to the item, as doing so will limit PayPals ability to successfully resolve your claim, and may result in the cancellation of your dispute. If possible, the document should include a serial number and description of the item, and the amount required to complete the repairs necessary to correct the damage. This document must be on letterhead that includes the name, address, and phone number of the individual, business, or organisation so that PayPal may contact them if necessary. I have posted up a picture of the record and still have the original packaging. Can anyone provide me with a document similar to that described above please? I have to fax it to PayPal within 10 days. Thanks Paul
  10. I wonder if anyone here can help me, I have a PayPal dispute ongoing regarding the damage done to the Jimmy Burns record (see first post). Paypal have requested the following documentation: "In order to continue with the investigation of your claim, we must request documentation to support your claim that the item is damaged or significantly not as described. This document must be on letterhead that includes the name, address, and phone number of the individual, business, or organisation so that PayPal may contact them if necessary." I have put up a scan of the damaged record here and can also put up a picture of the packaging used. Can anyone furnish me with a document similar to that asked for by PayPal? It has to be faxed to them within 10 days. I'll reimburse any costs. Thanks Paul
  11. I think that a registration process which involves people submitting their real names would reduce a lot of this. Their names need only be known to the moderaters but it would stop people hiding behind nicknames and made up names. Not sure how this could be verified though. Just my tuppence worth Mike. Cheers Paul
  12. I charge 1.40 for 1st class, 2.20 for recorded & 5.00 for special delivery. This covers the cost of postage & mailers etc. (please no comments such as "standard postage should be 1.37 etc ) Recorded insures an item up to 30 quid and I insist on this for Paypal payments cos it proves delivery if this is disputed. It is not unknown for buyers to receive a record and then claim it is lost, Paypal will take the money back from the seller if you have no proof of delivery. Special delivery insures above 30 up to at least 100 as standard (more if you pay a fee) and the items are tracked by Royal Mail (recorded items are not). Hope that helps Paul
  13. Only a southerner would have have to differentiate between green & avocado. BTW what is beige?
  14. Rod, I have read your posts and suspect you are ribbing me, suggesting that I am anally retentive in some way. I would say more but I have to go and sort out my underwear draw (top left).
  15. Yeah, but it is a lot easier when you only take 20 records
  16. I don't know if anyone else has noticed but one of the Google Ads that comes up at the bottom of this thread is titled "Tired Of Cheesy DJ's?"
  17. The "Do DJ's Know" thread in the All About Soul forum got me thinking about how DJ's decide what to play and having decided; how do they find the record quickly. Someone said that a DJ couldn't have enough records to play a bit of everything in their set and I'm not sure that is true. So to start off I will reveal the secret organisation of my humble play box (which I have not used in anger for about 2 years due to buying the pub, which I am now selling - hint to promoters), it's a 200 box with 2 partitions running front to back. (I am looking at the box from above with the front at the bottom): Top left: What I think of as uptempo oldies that everyone will know e.g. Yvonne Baker, O'Jays, Steinways, Majestics etc etc taking up a bit more than a third of this side Middle left: 70's stuff (or later ) including at the moment Philharmonics - I Need, INeed Your Love (is this 70's?), Celeste Hardie, Rhonda Davis, Constellations, 21st Century - Shadow of a Memory, Continental 4, Barbara Hall - You Brought it on Yourself, Linda Perry etc (another third) Front Left: MOTOWN !!! (the rest of the left hand side) Top right: Some mid-tempo & potential enders e.g. Kurt Harris, Rose St John - Fool Don't Laugh, The Jive Five - Then Came Heartbreak, Jackey Beavers - Bring Me All of Your Heartaches etc (about 10 - 15 records) Middle right: R&B & oddball stuff - at the moment this takes up over half of that side (ooh-er!) Some examples: Chyvonne Scott, Jimmy Ricks - Daddy Rollin Stone, Fabulous Playboys, Drapers, Anna King - Mama's got a Bag of her Own, a couple of Dorothy Williamss and Dorothy Berrys, Roscoe Gordon - You've Got My Bait etc Front right: Everything else! I would normally start playing from this bit and see where things go. Just looking through this it contains Athens Rogues, Johnny Bartel, John Bowie, Cam Cameron, Sheila Ferguson - And in Return, 3 Emmanuel Laskeys, Heartbreakers, Jock Mitchell, Trends, Vontastics etc Seems to be a predominance of detroit in this bit actually. Each section is alphabetical, each record is in a paper sleeve and in a white cardboard sleeve with the artist & title on it (the more recently acquired stuff has bigger writing ) I have the presumably common problem of getting new stuff and not being able to take stuff out to make way for it, some tunes which should be in the box are James Phelps - Don't Be a Cry Baby, Boss Four - Walkin By (thanks to the mid-tempo thread), Carl Carlton - I Can Feel It, Chuck Wright - The Palm of My Hand, Dushons, Vernon Harrell - If This Ain't Love (Ain't No Cows In Texas). Anyway, I've shown you mine now you show me yours then I'm off to sort mine out again.
  18. Sorry, just bumping this as I NEED to sell some records to pay for one just purchased. Come on guys, make me some offers, this is like pulling teeth! Oh yeah, the Cookie Jackson is sold (fine taste). Cheers Paul
  19. Some of the best music got played in the hour before we opened the doors when Jo, Martin & I used to play the records that we had bought during that month to each other. It was manadatory for each of us when asked for an opinion by the others to reply "That's shite"
  20. We had a chap come to These Old Shoes in London (smal basement club) one night and we hadn't seen hime before so we asked him what he thought: He said "It's shit .. the dance floor is too small, the sound system is rubbish, the music is crap, the DJ's don't know what they are doing and the beer is crap too" He came month after month and was just as miserable each time. Draw your own conclusions
  21. Some more sounds added: Mayberry Movement, Cookie Jackson, Pattie Ward, Jimmy Helms. Some stuff put on Ebay. Hope you find something you like. Thanks Paul
  22. Is it just me or does anyone else think it is quite wriong not to say whether you are selling an original or a bootleg?
  23. Think this one might have Universal Music on your back for trade mark infringement. https://www.spreadshirt.net/shop.php?op=art...icle_id=2858084
