  1. choon! and a good price! I bought one off Mr Manship the other week for 30 after one I was bidding on on eBay went to 29, thought that at least I'd be safe with condition with John (and I was). The one on eBay went for 62 quid but I've seen one since go for less. Once again: CHOOOOOOOON!
  2. I hardly think that this was flagged up before it had received much attention as it was over 400 dollars when I saw it and posted, also the right side IS listed. Anything over 400 dollars tends to come to the attention of everyone who is interested in rare soul records on ebay. Buying, selling ar talking. I hope you do get this "cheap" whatever price that is, and I hope it plays better than it looks, but to me the described minor scuffs and scratches look pretty bad and that was what I was commenting on. For comparison, here's an auction where a poor condition record has been described accurately: https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=014 I'm holding the record in my hand at the moment and the scuffs look as bad as the Velgo jobby.
  3. There are plenty of posts on running ebay auctions in this section of the forum and others. E.G The northern soul cables and I mentioned one before about a northern soul tin. Someone highlighted an auction the other day. of 300+ records where all the intersting ones had the wrong sides listed. Can't see what's wrong with commenting about ebay really, its a public web site with public auctions so its there for everyone to see. It is also a BIG part of the record collecting scene so is relevant. Isn't there a rule about swearing? Mum?
  4. https://cgi.ebay.com/Two-Plus-Two-I-M-SURE-...1QQcmdZViewItem How can this be described as excellent? I appreciate it may be rare but it looks VG- to me. This is a subject close to my heart at the moment as I've just receievd two fairly low value records that were described as VG which were totally unplayable, and I paid registerd post I got a third of the value refund.
  5. I'm waiting for a couple of things though it seems that the crap stuff and over graded stuff always gets through with no problems. Perhaps this should be in the conspiracy theory bit but I've thought about the problem and I reckon its a bit like global warming in that the signs have always been there but people are just sitting up and taking notice. As we all know although each record only wieghs a few ounces, once you get a number of records together the weight of them is quite significant. Well the removal of all this ballast from the states has been found to cause two problems: 1. the USA is getting lighter and 2: The UK is getting heavier. The upshot of these problems is that the lower overall altitude of the UK is causing flooding and abnormally hot weather wheras the USA's corresponding altitude increase has lowered the temperature causing failure of orange crops in Florida. Am I right or am I right? Both governments are taking these problems seriously and are thus restricting the flow of vinyl. I urge our US freinds to purchase more of the rubbish we put on eBay in order that we may take delivery of the quality items we buy from them. Cheers Paul P.S. What do you think of my new avatar? Cool or what?
  6. My missus bought two of his CD's off Amazon; both brilliant well worth getting.
  7. Got to agree with this one, I've never heard it played out though thankfully. I got a copy cheap when it was going for a ton or so but I hadn't heard it and when I put it on the deck I could not believe what came out of the speakers . How could anyone play it? why would anyone dance to it? Absolutely shite record I have one on ebay at the moment https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/sounds/exists...REE_LITTLE_PIGS
  8. That's cos most Morrisey fans either committed suicide in the 80's or are to apathatic to post

  12. Mark, I'm 99.9% sure it is the club's responsibility to ensure that adequate insurance is in place for public liability. If they didn't inform you that you had to provide some insurance cover then they are deffo liable as you have every right to assume you are covered by their policy. They are trying it on, tell them to swivel. Cheers Paul
  13. I really liked this when I heard it and the other side was good too, think they are both on a Goldmine CD. I just never understood why the tunes were passed off as some newly discovered 60's record. There seemed to be more emphasis on duping people than on the quality of the music. I wonder whether If they had been introduced as what they were (i.e. recently recorded) they would have been accepted by the scene? Or perhaps it is the fuss and attention that is key here
  14. Actually, I think you have all missed the most serious transgression here ... ..... the appalling fashion sense. I've never seen such a boring set of shirts, where do these people shop?! Cheers Jim Dandy P.S. I think the bloke at the front is just about to wipe up some surplus talc/beer so everyone will be safe.
  15. Absolutely right Gene, however what would be the intentions of a purchaser?
  16. Pete, I've been thinking about this all day and I think that possibly the best option would be for you to just use Mr Domar's instructions, they are quite clear. Cheers Paul
  17. Pete, I have a similar (?) problem in my business, I have only 5 tables in my dining room in my pub which can accomodate a varying maximum number of people between 16 and 20 depending how the tables and seating are arranged. People phone and book tables for certain times and a specific number of people. We stagger the booking times so that we manage the workload in the kitchen. What actually happens is that a table for 2 booked for 7.30 turns up with 4 people at 7, the 4 booked at 7 also turn up at 7, the 2 at 8 don't turn up at all, the 6 booked for 8.30 ring at 6.30 and ask if its OK to make it an 8 then turn up at 9 with only 4. A prime example was last night when a 4 booked at 7.30 turned up at 7.45 and wanted to eat in the Garden, the 9 for 8 o'clock rang to say there were now an 11 (!!!), I turned a 4 away at 8 because I didn't think we could cope with 15 people all at once then the 11 turned up eventually at 9 o'clock and there were only 9 of them. My business would run a lot smoother if it wasn't for the customers.
  18. As I said I just used your post to reply to, I wasn't implying that you'd made any statement or implied anything or commenting on your post in anyway whatsoever I just used it to reply to, I clicked "Reply" on the last post of a topic to make a general comment. Sod it I'll start a new topic next time, must go and open the pub.
  19. I don't think I did really, I was just making a different point and used your post to reply to, which is what I said in the first paragraph.
  20. I'm sorry to pick on this post but I think there are too many posts on this forum in the vein of " it can't be worth that cos I paid sixpence for it in 197X". What does it matter what records cost in the 70's? How does that relate to the value today in any other way than a comparison? It's just the same as ".. fish and chips on the way home for thruppence" stories. As I said on another thread, the Masqueraders doesn't come up because people don't want to sell it, same as the Ringleaders, same as Jock Mitchell, etc etc. Price is due to demand and occasionally rarity and what's wrong with that? In my experience, price and rarity don't necessarily go hand in hand. Records sell for the prices they do because people are willing to pay those prices and good luck to them. To say that those people are fools and/or the record isn't worth that much is just conjecture, the record is obviously worth that much to them. I have valuable records that are worth 3 or 4 times what I paid for them and I've only been collecting since 1998, but I wouldn't sell them so that makes them more difficult to obtain. I don't think The Masqueraders is a "solid 1000 pound record", I think 300 is a more accurate price but having said that I doubt I'll get a copy for 300 at the moment but then again I'm not looking for a copy, that is record collecting isn't it?
  21. I think this is one of those records that might not be rare (define rare?) but not many people will part with it. So it may be that a lot of people have one in their collection but if you want to buy one it is difficult to come by. I think the same can be said of the ringleaders, not really rare but people don't want to part with it unless they get serious wedge. so it is a 200-300 record. It's a demand thing
  22. I paid far too much for a copy of Don & Juan - All That's Missing is You on blue Mala cos I bloody wanted it and had the money. I've since had & sold 2 copies of said record on Terrific (one to Soul Sam who told me it wasn't worth what I was asking then reviewed it saying it was fantastic and he'd been after a copy for years) but never seen another on blue Mala. I couldn't care less if I've paid "over the odds", money is only beer tokens at the end of the day. Some times you have plenty, sometimes you don't have much.
  23. Listen to & watch Keb Darge on this youtube clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxI9_A3j_VQ "The music makes you do it"
