  1. Thanks Paul, just bought it blind for about 7 quid inc postage. Couldn't find it listed anywhere so thought I'd just get it anyway as it was cheap, looking forward to hearing it.

  4. I'm sure that nicking from sales boxes is not an isolated occurrence, the last time I went to Cleethorpes (5/6 years ago) I was sitting with Jo with our sales boxes in front of us like many others do. A group of three guys we didn't know came up and started looking in the boxes taking out a few records at a time and then swapping places. I'm a suspicious b*st*rd and it looked like a dodgy game to me so I took my records back off one guy and Jo did the same and we just shut our boxes and said if they wanted to look it was one at a time at one box at a time, they just wandered off. I think Rob Messer had a whole box nicked at the same event off his sales stand in the record bar. Unfortunately it is people on the scene that are doing it as they know what to nick and with "cheap" records being around 20 these days pretty much any small quantity is reasonably valuable. If caught they should have their hands chopped off.
  5. I saw that too, none of them looked like they would play, some nice tunes but battered to death. Don't understand why anyone is bidding
  6. I just got 200 from Bags unlimited in the states (should have got more!), couldn't find any in the UK. https://www.bagsunlimited.com/cart/browse.asp?subcat=27 Great service too.
  7. Not a tenner really, more like 25, but I've just received 200 7" polylined paper sleeves from Bags unlimited and can I just say what a pleasure it was to take my mint demo of The Arabians from its paper sleeve with folded over edges and slip it into a poly lined one. A plus is that they also fit neatly into white cardboard sleeves. Thanks to whoever told us all off for not using poly lined sleeves. Only 199 to go
  8. 2 copies (issue & demo) of Brown Sugar - The Game is Over for 16 dollars including postage after hearing Shifty play it at an unusual niter down the Old Kent Road in about 2002. Kept the demo I would have said a 12" demo of Al Green - Keep On Pushing Love which cost me 7 Euros including postage from some dutch website, but someone nicked it one night at These Old Shoes
  9. Post deleted Sorted now
  10. Delcos - Arabia - Showcase WLP and Buddy Lamp - Next Best Thing both finishing today. Both currently at 39.99 https://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZ784tpQQhtZ-1 Thanks Paul
  11. Hi Miles, I've dug it out now and mines in fairly shite nick too Looking back it appears I paid 11 quid for it including postage which isn't bad. Probably VG maybe VG+, pops and farts here and there, so I doubt its one to replace yours with. Nice tune tho Cheers Paul
  12. I NEEEEEEEEED a copy of this Outbid again on ebay the other day
  13. When you think a 50 quid record is cheap ....... (It's all your fault Pete Smith)
  14. He must have seen this thread by now and hasn't offered any explanation despite a number of people (including me) doing the "calm down, calm down" thing. I hesitated about saying this when I first posted because I thought that there was a bit of a lynch mob attitude and felt that Ian should be given the chance to defend himself but he hasn't. My deal went through OK in the end, but it did take some time (over a month) from flash to bang. I did wonder if he had sold me a record he hadn't got and then went out to find one for less than I paid. maybe? maybe not? Don't know, but he is still offering records to people despite having his reputation completely trashed on here. Go figure as our colonial cousins would say. Personally Dante, if you haven't sent him the money yet then I wouldn't, particularly for Ace Spectrum which is a really common record and appears on ebay every other day. I may be speaking out of turn here but I'm just expressing my opinion. Cheers Paul
  15. As long as it lasts as long as I last .....
  16. Sorry to hijack your thread but is this a well known modern side? I'm sure I have a copy somewhere that came with a load of others I bought off ebay to get one tune in the lot. I don't know much about modern soul I'm afraid. Cheers Paul
  17. You're absolutely right, prompted me to order 200 polylined 7" sleeves from bags unlimited. I keep receiving records with no sleeves too which means I am always short of them.
  18. I remember going to Cleethorpes one year with the whole of my sales box recorded onto mini-disc, when someone didn't know something I could pass them the headphones, look up which track it was (oh yes, it was cross referenced ) and then play it to them. I would like to say it helped my sales but actually when I suggested they listen to it on mini disc, for most people I might as well have said "This reindeer will now tap out the beat for you". Modern technology - who needs it.
  19. I've just had to re-list the chesterfields after the evil bay scum removed it because I had the audacity to say I accepted cash. Had a bid on it too. Why they can't just warn you revise it is beyond me, hopefully civilisation will reach ebay one of these days.
  20. Nail on the head there Pete The printed price guides can only be used as a guide to what someone would like to sell a record for, they cannot take into account the effect of demand in increasing/lowering going rates. Maybe the underpriced ones are records the guide writer doesn't want people chasing . Records only sell for what someone is willing to pay for them, so even popsike isn't that much use as sometimes 2 people bid a record past its reasonable selling price cos the both really want it at that time. Quite often I check it for a record and see prices sometimes hundreds of dollars apart I'm only an amateur at this but when I price a record its normally on the basis of what I paid for it together with a look at the guides and popsike and also a check of recent lists. I used to sometimes get ahead of demand but as I rarely get out these days I'm normally surprised. Still all you can do is price em up and hope someone is interested. Cheers Paul
  21. A few more bits added including Bobby Sheen - Something New To Do - WB issue (just got a demo ) https://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZ784tpQQhtZ-1 Thanks Paul
  22. I think the only accurate word in that write up is "scam"
