OK having a bit of a clear out as I don't have the space for all these, so book prices are out the window here, all these are a tenner, buy 5 for £40 or 10 for £75! All records are VG+ or better unless stated, I'm not going to give loads of details on each record so there may be a bit of wol or bb holes etc, if you want a specific record grading then drop me a pm. Everything unsold now moved to my 5 quid list which is here: /index.php?showtopic=59434 Postage: 1st Class - £1.40 Recorded - £2.20 Special Delivery - £5.00 Add 10p per record after the first 2 I'll add more as I go through my boxes, also I'll be putting together a 5 quid and a 2 quid list in the near future. Cheers Paul

Wanted: Invitations - Watch Out Little Girl - Mgm
paultp replied to stubbornsoul's topic in Record Wants
There is one here: https://www.northernsoulvinyl.com/us.htm And if you look at item no 130165258169 on ebay, then, like me, you'll wish you kept an eye on what's going on there -
That looks brilliant! Only knew about 50% of the records too My worry is that you wouldn't let me in as I'm too old
-
Thanks Ian, Didn't realise it belonged to Rob Thomas as it was something I only heard when Andy Rix played it out. I have one of the white label things but I thought it had the same thing both sides. I'll check when I get my records out of storage. I think it is brilliant, too bad it didn't get a release and then it would be obtainable to play out (without emptying the bank for the acetate). Cheers Paul Cheers

Just idly wondering so thought I'd ask: where is the Keni Lewis acetate - Not The Marrying Kind? Is it getting played anywhere? Cheers Paul

Still bloody waiting for both of these Not happy

Tommy, it was a brilliant set, a highlight of These Old Shoes. The bloody sound limiter was a pain though, I think you were guesting just after it had been installed, all because a guy had bought a flat opposite the bar and thought that central london should be much quieter than it was. The following month we muffled the mike on it and turned it away from the decks, the month after we talked the manager into bypassing it. To keep on topic; err I don't think that a younger generation will take to the scene as it is in the UK as the average age must be over 45 which will put them off. Also the format of music has changed; nobody really wants to hold music in their hands anymore and it is difficult to envisage rarity in digital format music. A rare mp3 anyone? And try explaining to a 15 year old why a round piece of vinyl is worth £4500 when the tune is available on many CDs. A younger generation may discover the music for the quality of the music alone but will not care if something only exists on a one off acetate or was pressed in its 1000's. If you look at tunes from a quality point of view only, then Washed Ashore and Please Let Me In would be played more regularly. If any wants a younger generation to get into the music then it will have to be taken to them not vice versa. Good music that makes people want to dance is the key not chin stroking old men like me.

Not really relevant but I've got a dutch picture sleeve EP of this somewhere, ANMHE is not the title track but is hiding in the tracks there somewhere. Think the title of the EP is Marvin and his Girls (or summat). I'd put a scan up if I knew where it was. Must return to the painting and decorating now cos as soon as I've finished this room I can get my records and decks out of storage I'm really missing them now
-
I bought one off ebay last year for 21 quid, put it back on ebay a few months later after trying to sell it here and got 26 quid. It might be worth 40 but you can probably get it for 25
-
Waiting for: Fourth Day - You Turn Me On - DT Skip Jackson - I'm On To You Girl - Dot Mar Reckon I'll get my loft painted and carpeted and my decks out of storage ready to play them before they arrive at this rate. Paul

Wow! You go away from your computer for a few days and come back to find a 6 page thread about ... err ... a guy played a record (maybe-not-a-real-one-but-possibly-a-copy-taken-from-a-legit-source) before another guy who believed he had the only copy who then spat his dummy and took the record off. ... and (shock horror) ... it might have been done deliberately !!! OH MY GOD! I'll never leave my computer again

I've missed this twice on ebay recently (last few months), both times it went over 150 quid. I had a look on popsike and ordering the results by date you can see how the price has risen in the last year: https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php...date&thumbs= Fantastic tune! Cheers Paul

Saw him on the same tour at The Albert Hall, went to get 2 singles autographed (didn't know he was illiterate), gave them to the guy on the door and they came back with Bobby Bland scrawled on them both. The guy on the door said Bobby Bland was really chuffed that someone remembered his 60's stuff and had actually signed them himself whereas he normally gets someone to do it for him. The night I saw him he did most of his later work but the following night (when Jo Wallace, Paul Temple et al went to see him) he did a whole load of 60's stuff. They owe me big time .
