  1. Most people didn't notice it, I still think it is the rarest record I have
  2. Starting to put these on eBay now Channel 3, Jimmy Radcliffe and The Promises (which wasn't on the list ) already up and the rest on this week. Happy to listen to offers Cheers Paul
  3. Phew! I thought I was imagining things again! Here's a couple of the buy it now doo-daas in his feedback: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=320222032912 https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=320213556550 It raises the question of wether it is a good thing for records to turn up in quantity; on the one hand everyone can have one but on the other good records don't get played any more. Danny Moore for example. Cheers Paul
  4. This is the guy that did have them "buy it now" but he's auctioning them now: https://cgi.ebay.com/GREAT-SWEET-NORTHERN-S...1QQcmdZViewItem
  5. It did seem a silly amount I'd been after one since I heard it on one of the refosoul radio shows - Johnny Timlin on Eddy Pilar's show I think. Anyway, I missed one for around $60 then got a VG+ one for $70+ which now looks like too much, I was watching the one I saw go for over a ton (pounds) cos it was mint, but it went all silly in the last few moments ( like they do!) so my snipe bid was well beaten. Can't find it now, isn't showing on popsike and doesn't turn up on an eBay completed items search and must be too old for my previous snipes list. Maybe I imagined it all
  6. I saw the fourth day version go through ebay for well over 100 quid before Christmas, quite surprised.
  7. There's a guy had them on eBay for $50 buy it now for a few months. Never got one cos I don't like it and didn't think I could sell it. So it seems to have settled at around 25 quid?
  8. A couple more added: Channel 3 - The Sweetest Thing - Dakar 4520 WLP - M- 120 A bit of label bubble but vinyl almost mint - choon! Basic Black & Pearl - There'll Come A Time, There'll Come A Day - WAM 901 - M- 70 Rarer Canadian 1st label before Polydor Thanks Paul
  9. Last bump, honest
  10. I've read this twice now but can't see the problem? It seems like the web site is quoting promotional materiel for a play that they are putting on? "Blue collar" is used to refer to people who worked in factories or trades (such as apprentice turners?) as opposed to "white collar" which refers to office workers or the professions (Doctors, lawyers etc.) Seems fairly innocent to me. I probably am missing something. Cheers Paul
  11. Hi any chance of putting sound files up here? I went to your facebook thing but despite 3 hours of constant searching could not find any sound files. Ta Paul

  13. Jo and I were DJing at errrrr ...... a venue and the guy on after us failed to turn up, so we played another and spoke to the promoter, still no DJ, played another, then another ..... he eventually turns up and gets all grumpy with us "You've gone over your time" he grumbles !! We should have lifted the needle and said "Over to **** for the next hour" as he hadn't even taken the lid off his box! But Jo's too professional FFS!

  15. The biggest bug bear for me is not the VAT it is Royal Mail International's 8 quid charge when something has been nabbed for VAT by HMRC

  21. The Van Dykes - Save My Love For A Rainy Day - Mala 584 - VG++ On Hold (inc paypal & spec delivery postage in UK) This would grade M- but for a couple of storage marks on it, I can't seem to clean them off but I can't hear them when playing it. Scan below & sound file to follow. Thanks Paul
  22. It might not be the best but it illustrates the fact that US dealers ask top wack for a record because they now have some knowledge regarding what price records sell for in the UK. Before this, as you say, the record would have listed for 10 dollars, I would have bid about $50-75 on the basis that I could have maybe sold it for at least 50 quid in the current climate. I might have got it, I might not. Unfortunately the start price is $225 or about 120 quid including postage so I'm not bidding at all cos unless I was really lucky I think it would take me years to sell it on. It will be interesting to see if it sells cos to my mind this is the sort of record that is pretty unsaleable at the moment because it isn't 1) A northern classic 2) very expensive 3) Any good 4) In demand 5) On any name DJ play lists 6) Rare This record has had about 2 surges in value over here in 30 years, during the most recent it listed for up to 150 quid. At the time I was pleased to get it for 50 but only got my money back on it in the end. Rarity doesn't matter to be honest, it is current availability that dictates the price of an in demand record (which this one isn't any more ). When it was in-demand it wasn't readily available over here. It might be common in the states but it isn't/wasn't over here until more people started buying off the tinterweb. If you have quantity at 10 dollars each I'll take them all.
  23. Is he not just chuffing about his collection? In the unlikely event that anyone has 3 million dollars to spend on records in one go, would you buy this or just go and buy whatever you wanted on eBay, from dealers etc?
