  1. Don't think so, not seen one anyway, my missus bought me a DJ bag for carrying the larger records in
  2. There were loads of them on ebay a couple of years ago, went for around 50-60 dollars every time. I'm with the Tom Jones fans, kept that but sold on every BEK I've had.
  3. Strange thing this records doo-dah, I keep looking at my records and thinking "What am I keeping these for? Why don't I just sell up?" Then I buy some more Does anyone understand? Anyway the last few things that I've bought to keep are: Bobby Bland - Lover With A reputation - Duke Got a few of his Duke outings but hadn't heard this - lovely Diplomats - Honest To Goodness - Minit Been waiting for a cheap copy to come my way and eventually it did Johnny De'Vigne - I Smell Trouble - De-lite Been after a copy since Ady Lupton played it down These Old Shoes back in 2000 or so and put it on the Anniversary CD - 25 quid off eBay Nat Wright - Run, Sonny, Run - Petal Bloody mad tune! 1 min 47 of lunacy, Alan H played it at my birthday bash last year and had a look for it after the popcorn thread came up the other week - only VG but 7 quid including postage off a japanese soul site I can guarantee this would stop the floor at most venues, crossover it ain't, puts the hairs on the back of your neck up Baby Washington - I've Got A Feeling - Sue W/D A Jo Wallace tip King Coleman - Down In The Basement/Crazy Feeling - Togo I think I'm turning into a mod! Prince Buster - Gun The Man Down - Prince Buster Maytals - Dog War - Prince Buster No, I'm turning into a skinhead! As you can see, I've given up chasing tunes as the prices have gone somewhat ridiculous, I know "big tunes" are generally expensive but my attitude these days is that if I had 1500 quid loose I'd buy a new dinghy to sail or b*gger off to Canada skiing, I certainly wouldn't buy a copy of Joe Jama Cheap but interesting for me now. As the lady said when I turned round and found her rifling through my Dj box whilst I was doing a set at These Old Shoes: "They're only records!"
  4. Beats me why anyone would part with 1000 - 1500 quid for this, particularly in poor condition. Nice enough tune but a bit plodding. Unless its just easy come easy go - look at me I've got Joe Jama. It does seem to come up for sale a lot considering it goes for 1500 or so. Hey Ho, what do I know.
  5. Cheers! Definitely coming along, will be at York Soul club the week before too
  6. edit: posted twice
  7. Beautiful tune! Another from them on the Dynamics label in a similar mid-tempo vein is "Won't You Please", will post a sound file in a mo .... Cheers Paul
  8. It's how you beat eBay's text scanning software, it looks for "boot" and "bootleg" not for "re-issue". The text scanning software kicks in after a bid is placed, I had some listings pulled a while ago cos I said I accepted cash which is now viewed by eBay as money laundering only got pulled after someone bid on it. The buyer probably is going to DJ with it, and this is one of the reasons lesser known sounds seem to be in vogue these days as that prevents the playing of looky-likeys. With so many poor sound systems and the pressure to play big money tunes I'm sure there are a few of these get played every week up & down the country. Kudos through deception - very sad. The seller is making bloody good money on these too, so good that this scam is fairly high on my list of things to do once I've finished refurbing the house.
  9. I know you're not supposed to draw attention to ebay auctions but is this a bargain or what! https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BUILD-ME-UP-BUTTERCU...1QQcmdZViewItem If you were hanging on to a spare in the hope of ot increasing in price - unload it quick
  10. I sold a mint one like this (demo with A on it) late last year on eBay and got over 50 quid for it. Quite surprised as I thought it was worth a tenner at best. HTH Paul
  11. I had one of these on my sales list for 80 the other week, still got it if you want it?
  12. Hi Simon, I know this isn't very helpful but there definitely is as it was used on a TV advert recently. Unfortunately I have no idea who it was by. Best I can do Cheers Paul
  13. Ady, Jo's right you should just use Alan H as a consultant for the CD, he'd easily have enough knowledge/tunes to fill about 10 of em. On a more selfish note I'd be grateful if you wouldn't publicise popcorn at the mo cos I've found this stuff to be far cheaper than NS on eBay recently and would like this situation to continue. On topic: two of my recent purchases as suggestions: Candy Reed - Give Me Love - Vanguard R&B popcorn Donald Height - Girl Do You Love Me - RCA R&B but leaning towards Cha-cha-cha Both records cost me 15 quid each My USB turntable isn't connected to my PC at the mo so can't immediately do soundfiles. Cheers Paul
  14. My white demo has "I Need Your Love" & "Glad I Found You" on it. I can't give you a definitive answer regarding rarity but my gut feeling is that issues are rarer. Prices are all over the shop at the mo, I thought a white demo would cost me 100 - 150 quid but got one a couple of weeks ago off eBay for less than 90 dollars. Hope that helps, if only as an opportunity for someone else to contradict me Cheers Paul
  15. Just A couple of hours left ....
  16. Marvin Gaye - This Love Starved Heart Of Mine (It's Killing Me) - Tamla PS - £450 Good grief! I thought this was 100 - 150?
  17. Updated, more added, some reduced.
  18. This seems to be quite a common thing these days (no prices on sleeves) - can't understand it really unless the records are really rare and would normally be auctioned. Don't see the point of not pricing a record that everyone knows the rough price of. I think the problem is that some people fill out sales boxes with records that they don't want to sell but think they will make their box's contents look better quality. A similar thing with buyers is people will look through boxes and even haggle when they have no intention of buying records but just want to be seen doing so. At the last prestatyn I went to (2003?) some guy went through my sales box (200) whilst talking to (and looking at) his mate - just wasting both our time. Cheers Paul
  19. I'm sorry but this is the last thing we want. The next thing you know they'll be buying records which will mean the records won't get over here for us grumpy old men. Stop this right now.
  20. More added 11/03 The Winstons - Ain't Nothing Like A Little Lovin/Need A Replacement - Curtom 8546 (black issue) - M- 90 Vernon Harrell - If This Ain't Love - Score 1010 - M- 70 Storming R&B! Darrow Fletcher - What Good Am I Without You - Jacklyn 1006 - M- 100
  21. That is seriously awful must of been a right b*gg*r on the calf muscles
  22. "Jackie Beavers - Bring Me All Of Your Heartaches - Grandland" I'm glad it's not just me that thinks this is awesome 5 Records to save from my collection? I would probably go up in smoke trying to decide but at first guess: Jock Mitchell - Not A Chance in A million - cos that's the likelihood I have of ever replacing it Jimmy Soul Clark - I'll Be your Champion - has me in tears Joe Mathews - She's My Beauty Queen - feel good detroit The Arabians - Please, Take A chance On Me - the perfect tune The Constellations - I Don't Know About You - ultimate uplifting record Actually I feel ill at the thought of everything going up in smoke
  23. The official vid on youtube (nice brogues): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KE2orthS3TQ Nice tune but still don't think she has any soul, Lulu still gets my vote
  24. No. Sorry, I was just teasing. Didn't think it would be that hard to find to be honest as most people don't play the "Better Days Ahead" side and it is the other side that is usually listed. Best of luck anyway.
