I wonder if anyone ever did a photographic study of record shops - UK or US - they all seem to be closing an it would be good to know that there was some record of them. Can't beat going through stacks of records.

Definately Not Another Suspect Ebay Seller
If you paid by Paypal he has to send it to the address shown on paypal to be covered - don't think it would be his fault if you have the wrong address showing on paypal?

Frank Wilson / Sonny Daye
Must be common cos I've got one too I paid $213 (about 140 quid) for my M- copy off ebay mid march, there was another copy more recently which went for slightly less I think. Popsike has some old listings which show anything from $104 to $392. Someone did well at $104. JM has it at £250 in his latest guide. Looks like it is a hard one to price

Man Oh Man
I'm afraid that is rubbish, I wish this was a 10 quid record, it would be in my box all day long regardless of value. Absolutely fantastic tune, puts the hairs on the back of my neck up.

History Of The Bootleg
Great program! But it uses the term bootleg in its original meaning - an illegal recording of a performance that normally wouldn't have otherwise been commercially available - normally live performances. Highly collectable these days. Boots on the Northern scene are just counterfeits and the term these days is used generally to describe anything that isn't an authentic original. Northern boots (counterfeits) in the 70's were, for most, the only way of regularly hearing a tune outside the venues. They were also produced on what was the medium of the day - vinyl. I would say that these boots have now become historically significant items as they represent a youth culture of the time. My wife still has her small collection (in my best vintage record case ) as they represent a time in her youth. Why anyone buys todays counterfeits is beyond me: they are not recorded on the medium of the day, the tunes are easily available in other formats, they have no historical significance so are not collectable, they are heavy and they will have no future value. They are just cheap copies of what were, and in the main still are, commercially available items - produced by the unscrupulous to make a quick buck. Cheers Paul

Do You Dj With Boots Knowingly
I used to play "reconsider" off one of those 70's white label things (the ones with the "test pressing" stamp and written dates etc on) at These Old Shoes now and again. Always went down well. Also played it when we did a party for the Motown people at Universal down the River Bar - most had never heard it. I'm sure there must be a studio acetate of it somewhere that never gets played out, just looked at and stroked. So shoot me

Original Vinyl Only ?
Someone might have already said this (I'm just reading through the thread) but to my mind that is exactly what is happening. There seems to be two types of night these days: - one is for people who want a few beers and listen to tunes they've heard a thousand times and still think are great - format not really an issue (no pun intended) to the promoters (nothing wrong with that) - the other is for people who want to hear the really rare stuff that other people don't have (nothing wrong with that either). What does one do when you actually want something in between these two things? When you're bothered about format but don't care if a tune is rare or not so long as it is good? You want well known mixed in with lesser known? My answer: stay in, listen to your own records and keep collecting

Original Vinyl Only ?
I find I'm beginning to agree with you Pete I saw this thread and thought "not again!" but actually this has been running round my tiny brain for some months. My thoughts are: I like OV but that's just me, that's what I like. I like DJ crosses on labels but some people don't. I think the originals only policy will either prevent the music crossing to a new generation or die if it does. "Only those with the records can DJ" - God forbid! This promotes knob waving and inflates record prices, not necessarily in that order. The other day I looked at my Kent and other compilation LP's gathering dust and realised I now see them as potential funds for buying records. But they wouldn't really bring in much so I wondered if a better use might be to give them to somebody much younger than me who might play them to a much younger audience who might think "wow, what's this" and maybe appreciate the music without knowing the price or giving a monkeys as to what the label is. Ignore me I'm just getting old and am prone to having an afternoon nap.
