  2. There's an Andrea Henry on ebay [here] It's not in the best shape but he has a sound file
  3. I used to play "reconsider" off one of those 70's white label things (the ones with the "test pressing" stamp and written dates etc on) at These Old Shoes now and again. Always went down well. Also played it when we did a party for the Motown people at Universal down the River Bar - most had never heard it. I'm sure there must be a studio acetate of it somewhere that never gets played out, just looked at and stroked. So shoot me
  4. Someone might have already said this (I'm just reading through the thread) but to my mind that is exactly what is happening. There seems to be two types of night these days: - one is for people who want a few beers and listen to tunes they've heard a thousand times and still think are great - format not really an issue (no pun intended) to the promoters (nothing wrong with that) - the other is for people who want to hear the really rare stuff that other people don't have (nothing wrong with that either). What does one do when you actually want something in between these two things? When you're bothered about format but don't care if a tune is rare or not so long as it is good? You want well known mixed in with lesser known? My answer: stay in, listen to your own records and keep collecting
  5. There's a M- WLP of this on my site https://www.paulsrecords.com/northernsoul.html Cheers Paul
  6. I find I'm beginning to agree with you Pete I saw this thread and thought "not again!" but actually this has been running round my tiny brain for some months. My thoughts are: I like OV but that's just me, that's what I like. I like DJ crosses on labels but some people don't. I think the originals only policy will either prevent the music crossing to a new generation or die if it does. "Only those with the records can DJ" - God forbid! This promotes knob waving and inflates record prices, not necessarily in that order. The other day I looked at my Kent and other compilation LP's gathering dust and realised I now see them as potential funds for buying records. But they wouldn't really bring in much so I wondered if a better use might be to give them to somebody much younger than me who might play them to a much younger audience who might think "wow, what's this" and maybe appreciate the music without knowing the price or giving a monkeys as to what the label is. Ignore me I'm just getting old and am prone to having an afternoon nap.
  7. It's probably the funniest thing on here for some time (the dog plus glasses had me laughing out loud), almost missed it as I've been ignoring this thread. Missed most of the mp3's, seems a bit draconian to have removed them as they are just a bit of fun. I'll probably get told off for saying this in the wrong bit too, or not being "on topic" whatever that is.
  8. I'd quite like to see it disappear (back?) into the Motown archives.
  9. There's a Victoria Williams on ebay [here] and a Derek Martin [here]
  10. I have an Ex copy on my site on this page: https://www.paulsrecords.com/modernsoul.html Cheers Paul
  11. Maybe for a different thread or maybe Harry Hill; 25K on Frank Wilson v Other tunes you could buy with the money (without wanting to knob wave) FIGHT!!!!
  12. That's a really good idea, a 50 box night! It would have a few DJ's sweating - nothing to fall back on!
  13. Up, Up and Away In My Beautiful Balloon!
  14. Well the average is £84 so maybe I'll just go for that
  15. What is the proper price for Madeleine Wilson - Dial L for Lonely - Samar Ex+ ? JM has this at £150 in his latest guide and £100 in his 3rd Edition, I've seen it for sale on here at £30 (VG), £40 (VG+) and £100 - very confusing. So what is the correct price for this? No cryptic clues please Cheers Paul
  16. Open a paypal dispute straight away and correspond with the seller through that, repeat anything you have already said to them so there is a record. If you don't get anywhere, escalate the dispute to a claim for bad packaging and poor grading. Paypal may ask you to get a recognised record dealer to examine packaging and record and back up your claim. If paypal find in your favour, you will then have to return the record, using a tracked postal service. When the tracking shows the record delivered you get your refund. Don't worry about the neg feedback, you can leave it once you have escalated to a claim if you want, but unless the guy has loads it has very little effect and he'll just start trying to get it removed and use it as evidence of a stroppy buyer in the claim process. Its a pain in the *rse but it does work. Cheers Paul
  17. Surely everyone has Ace Spectrum I have Spyder Turner I would have had a Troy Dodds if the postal service hadn't lost it

    Soul City

There's a copy of this with sound files on ebay [here]
  24. I found a copy of the West Ham United Cup Squad of 75 singing "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" in a record shop in San Francisco. Promo too! I wondered how on earth it had found its way there, it wasn't until I posted a scan of it up here that someone pointed out it was a US Promo Now who in their right mind would decide that it would be enough of a possibility in the states to press up a promo? And yes, it is my rarest record before anyone asks
  25. There's a copy of Roy Handy on ebay [here] - rough but cheap!
