  1. Just over 3 days left on these now.
  2. There's a M- one on ebay "buy it now" [here]
  3. There's a Honey and The Bees "Love Addict" on ebay [here]
  4. Saddest thing is that people are obviously buying them. Can't see the point really, might as well buy a CD with 2 dozen of the tracks on.
  5. There's a M- Richard Knight on ebay [here]
  6. I'm not sure anyone "invested money" in records in 1983 or am I missing the point? Nowadays its different though, mind you the record market looks like a similar bubble to the housing market but without a decent asset to back it up. The only reason to put money into records (other than for the love of it) is to hide it from the tax man or for money laundering. On topic: I think Heartache Souvenirs is a pants record, dull and repetitive. For me it is just stamp collecting, train spotting and/or knob waving to waste £3000+ on that particular piece of plasic. ..... Sorry, forgot the IMHO
  7. There's a mint- copy on ebay [here]

    A Few Wants

There's a Jessie Mae on ebay [here] - the sound file seems wrong though! Craig Moerer also has a M- one "Buy It Now" [here] - but it isn't cheap!
  9. Dropped you a pm I see Vince is stll looking
  10. I'm afraid this gave me a mental image of you stroking a white cat whilst typing .... ..... then I realised you'd need three hands to do that. Errr .. you haven't have you?
  11. I think I'm going to stop posting as whatever I say seems to be taken the wrong way. Just read my post through again and there is only one "don't" and that is somebody else's. Everything else I said I meant sincerely. I thought there was some good advice there like "know what you are buying before starting to buy or you may be soundly ripped off", JM's price & bootleg guide, etc. I wasn't saying your taste in records is not much cop but people expect DJ's to play their own style, something different and/or "big" records. In any case WHATEVER you play you can't please everyone, and you'll never be fully prepared for the shocking things people say to you when you are doing a set. And that isn't just my experience If what I've posted has offended you, wait until someone comes up and says "are you going to play this head-nodding shit all night?" as happened to an aquaintance of mine recently (who had a full dance floor at the time). Even my last comment was completely serious. Somebody mentioned that you were a lot younger than many on here, as most are in their 40's and 50's I thought possibly you were in your 20's. Go for it, best of luck, sorry for trying to help. edit: and another thing! you say; "it's not really the kudos of being a DJ that I'm after" but you're calling yourself "thefantasticmrsC" - is that what you'll want on the flyers?
  12. There's a good few on ebay [here] - some "buy it now" One guy is selling six copies with orig sleeves!
  13. The link I put up was to the UK site, didn't have a look at the US to be honest. They do tend to have different policies for US & UK. For the UK the discounts apply to powersellers (a sliding scale from 20% to 40%) and anyone who qualifies as a powerseller in a 30 day period (flat 20%). £750 sales in 30 days is needed for bronze powerseller status (and being registered as a business on ebay) and that wouldn't be too difficult if you were selling a few good records.
  14. It was me that posted that up, Albertfish just put a smiley on the end. I'm 51 and a half.
  15. Ebay gives discounts to sellers that maintain a high Detailed Seller Rating (DSR). They geared the site towards high volume sellers and tempted them with lower fees for high volume of sales. They then based their DSR on buyer feedback. To get the best discounts on fees you have to maintain a DSR average of 4.6 or better - i.e. get a star rating of 4.6 or better for 30 days (consecutvely I think) to get your discount. The fees increase as the DSR falls. So if you leave 1 star for someone who qualifies for these discounts their fees go up until their DSR average reaches above 4.6 again which is pretty hard to maintain I would imagine. I always leave 5 stars unless I've been really robbed. (I'm not telling you off or being patronising - I'm just explaining). It is well hidden on ebay's web site now but there is more info here: https://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/seller-discounts.html It's worth reading as my explanation is the result of a quick scan so I may not have it exactly correct.
  16. As I said, I thought I was being courteous. However, I can see your definition of courtesy and mine obviously differ. I do hope you get the records you want at whatever cheapskate prices you expect. If I can ever help you find records you are looking for please do get in touch as it is a pleasure corresponding with you. Cheers Paul
  17. eh? They are not on my want list so it is unlikely that I'll start a thread. They looked like good value to me so I posted up that if you didn't want them I'll have them. What is wrong with that? I thought I was being pretty straight to be honest. Do you want them or not? Next time I'll just PM people an offer on records they have offered you and you'll be none the wiser - would that be preferable? If you don't want people posting just close your thread. Simples (as those pesky meerkats say)
  18. So you have to offer free postage? What happens when someone pays by paypal and then claims that they haven't received their record? Will ebaypaypal say "well you opted for free postage so tough sh*t" ............ I doubt it. Special delivery costs £5.60 and is required to insure anything costing over 36 quid, I normally absorb the cost of mailers, fees etc on anything going special delivery. Recorded costs around 1.80, I charge 2.20 otherwise a ten quid record costs me about 2 quid to sell. And this is without selling through ebay. So, a record is a tenner on my site and a tenner on ebay, buyer will buy off ebay to save 2.20 - costing the ebay seller and me - result: all sellers f*cked. Also Royal Mail have changed their policy on refunding items lost in the post if you don't use recorded or better due to the amount of fraud. They will now only refund the VALUE of an item i.e. you have to prove what you paid for it not what you sold it for (they must have read my rant about price v value). So you have to use recorded or special and now absorb all the costs if you are to cover any possible future refund. On the positive, attendance at venues should go up as everyone returns to carrying a small box of sales around. BTW Pete, I suppose that you know that if you don't leave 4 stars or more in feedback the sellers fees go up, which is probably why they are charging more for postage. The devil is in the detail!
  19. I think you should find the answers to these questions before you start buying. Otherwise you will find that quite a number of people will be reaching for the mint sauce! You should first buy Mr Manship's latest guide and look at how to tell what has been bootlegged and what hasn't. Remember to subtract at least 30% from his guide prices so you know roughly what to pay. If you are planning to DJ then the list you put up isn't much cop as everyone has them; has heard them and doesn't want to really hear them all again (at least not all at the same time). Most people collect records and then decide they want to DJ or get asked. If you want to buy records just to be a DJ you will need a big house and no mortgage as you'll need to sell it to fund the record buying spree required to fill a decent 200 box for a set. Planning to DJ is a bit of a joke phrase really because unless you are really good you won't get any sets. The only other way is to have hideously rare or exclusive records and then you can get booked at the chinstokers dos (back to selling the house here). Or start your own night if you can find a venue. To be honest there are more more DJ's than dancers these days anyway. Dundee Davie's advice was best - don't do it. Alternatively, if you are under 25, just buy CD's, bootlegs and compilation albums and play them to your mates to get them interested in the music. Start your own night in a decent venue and have a strict "nobody over 30" policy on the door. You'll have much more fun, you won't have anyone clouding your vision with 40 years of NS politics and bullsh*t and the music might transfer to a new generation.
  20. I don't mind people overpricing records, its the pillocks that pay those prices that annoy me. edit: Unless it is me that is selling
  21. If Vince doesn't want them, I'll take them both off you for 60 plus postage. Is that any good? Cheers Paul

  23. I thought that was the case. I sold mine last year for 80 and couldn't believe what it was fetching. It seems to still be going up. I know that I bought it for 15 from Roger Banks at Cleethorpes about 98 or 99. There were plenty in the sales boxes but RB had a player and it was one of 5 that I bought after playing stuff I didn't know (which was most records then). He gave me discount too cos I bought 5 records off him Why is it £150 now?
