Rosco Gordon on eBay [here]
-
So is this about right for the test pressing? - on eBay [here] - can't easily copy the picture these days. Think the seller is Paul Harris from Bradford, bought the odd thing off him.
-
Somebody else's treasured box of records from their youth on eBay [here] Very similar to the last one I posted up but with about twice as many records and some casino badges (possibly worth more than the records ). Again the records, badges and box provide a great social comment on a time in this person's life, It must be a real wrench for people to sell these things. I've still got a small collection of 70's football books! The last one made its £350 and I reckon this will go for £500 plus. For the cynical amongst you, will it soon be worth bootlegging a 1970's box of pressings?

There's one on ebay [here]

I already posted a link in the rarest white demos thread - do keep up!

Just an update on this, there isn't a registered trademark for "The 100 Club" or the logo, but there is a recent application. Haven't got the full details as my missus for got to email them to me as she was too busy, so dunno who has applied for the TM. Will know more on Monday.
-
They are quite a long way to the right on firefox, you need to scroll right to see them.
-
I think everyone should post up their pictures of themselves with the 100 club logo behind them on your thread, just to illustrate the clubs key part in the scene. I've added mine, I've always been proud and a little humbled to have been lucky enough to put my records on those decks. Three times if I remember rightly, including once at a niter with Jo Wallace (to whom I'm eternally grateful) when Adey put me on the flyer as "Peter, Paul & Lary"

I'm still a bit confused over who actually owns the 100 club brand. The web site blurb says: "The current owner requires £250,000 to pay creditors and to sell the goodwill, merchandising rights and all other benefits of the brand, "The 100 Club". " Are we talking about the building owner or the club owner or someone else? Actually I can probably answer this myself as my missus is a trademark attorney. Back soon with an answer (hopefully).

I bought a copy of this a while ago and scanned it today to put up an my web site I noticed it has no label number on it so had a look about for info. Most copies seem to be the orange label with number 747 on it like this: Mine is a green label with no number just a stamped 61273 on it: What have I got?
-
I have an Ex copy - it isn't for sale on my web site at the moment but as I'm thinking of selling up I would consider an offer. Cheers Paul

The spreadsheet etc just takes too long to load, after 10 mins I still hadn't got any prices or "add to cart " buttons. Maybe try breaking it up a bit?

There's another Gwen Owens WD on eBay at the moment - [here]

paultp replied to Donkit's topic in Look At Your Box
Condition is pretty poor though, 20-odd quid is about right for that one IMHO. -
That looks a good price, there's a guy on ebay with one for sale [here] at $170 - he does have that "make an offer" button though

I saw this personal collection on eBay UK today and wondered how many time capsules like this there must be sitting in people's attics around the country. I didn't see anything earth shattering (unless those two Judy Streets are originals ) but just thought it was a great slice of personal history. It must be quite a wrench for him to sell them. Less than £4 a record doesn't seem too bad either. My missus still has a box of 50 or so 45's she bought in her teens and I refuse to sell them for her as it is a representation of a time in her youth. She just tells me that now I have recorded them onto her ipod she doesn't really want them any more - very sad .

Motown, Motown, Motown ........ .... with some Motown in between I remember discussing Northern soul v Motown with a well known DJ when I lived in London and we came to the conclusion "Motown p*sses all over Northern Soul" I'll tell you his name if you send me a tenner by paypal to ptp {at} just7.co.uk

Big Dons Rebellion White Demo Value Please
paultp replied to Mark Bicknell's topic in Look At Your Box
I think its worth £150 ..... ....... and if you agree I'll take it! I still tell Jo Wallace off for playing it when we were on the Richard Searling show on Jazz FM. A couple of weeks before the show Paul McKay got one (off here I think) for £50 quid and I still hadn't tracked one down, a week after and everyone wanted it and the price had rocketed. B*gger! -
Offering A Record For 'offers' What Is Expected?
paultp replied to Ged Parker's topic in All About the SOUL
The thing is though that Sotheby's/Christies auctions are usually live and they don't stop until everyone stops bidding and the auctioneer will give people time to bid before closing cos they make more money that way. Once everyone stops bidding then the auction stops. It is only ebay (and its lookey-likeys) that has a time limit on bids, mainly because it has to - it is automatic and that is the best way to end an automatic auction. I've never seriously bid on JM's auction (can't afford the records and/or prices get too high for what they are) but I reckon that as it is a mix of online and phone (and possibly somebody standing next to him!) he is right to keep it open until everyone stops bidding. He's quite clear about the rules too. As for the other web site soul 45 auctions, I've never thought they were particularly transparent so haven't considered them. I'm not saying they aren't kosher, I just don't think they are transparent enough to make a judgement. Can't remember what the thread was about now anyway -
Offering A Record For 'offers' What Is Expected?
paultp replied to Ged Parker's topic in All About the SOUL
When anyone puts up "sales" lists on here asking for offers - I never bother with them. 2 reasons: I used to put in offers but people were too rude to reply - I don't mind being told I'm a skinflint , Secondly; asking for offers is just based on greed, it is a state of mind people get into when they can't sell records in case whoever buys them sells them on for more or someone sells the same record for more a month later. Record prices go up and down - live with it. As far as I'm concerned if you want the most for an in-demand record - put it on ebay or send it to that nice Mr Manship and advertise the fact that you have - it will find its price. A sales list should have prices ....... ....... then you can offer less!
