  4. Thanks Dave. Just to be clear, Steve isn't owed £600, that is the total amount from all the sellers who left negative feedback. No idea if they have or have not been refunded. Anyway, I've said my bit, so I'm outta here. I hope it all gets cleared up.
  5. I think it is out of order for people to continue a thread when the seller's father has explained the situation and offered to refund everyone. Steve could have pm'd Ady before posting this up here, informed him of the problem and found out exactly what the score was. I've already offered to help him out if you read the posts but it won't be via Steve. I don't think the sun shines out of his arse, I've only met him twice and that was 10 years ago. My point is that continuing to moan about his ebay selling practices (of cheap records) when he is possibly homeless is sort of missing the point. I would say this whether I know him or not. To be honest, if it turns out that he has changed into a cynical record dealer who badly grades records or doesn't send them out at all, then that will be a relief to me. I'd rather it was that than him being homeless with a young family in a desperate situation. I suppose I've just got my priorities all wrong, its records that are more important than all that. What was I thinking!
  6. I really am amazed this thread is still running. If you had pm'd Ady before blasting away on here you would have known the score as much as anyone does. But much more fun to have a blast on here and get a load of others to join in the witch hunt and agree you have been badly done to. How much are you owed? $20 or so? I said I would gladly help Tommy out if you read my post - to sort himself out rather than pay his ebay debts. I was making the point that compared with being homeless - £600 is not a vast amount in the scheme of things (although it probably is to Tommy at the mo). How many of those people have been refunded? I imagine you have no idea. If you think I'm sending you £600 you must be seriously deranged. Unbelievable.
  7. FFS! You must have a full and interesting life. In the scheme of things that is peanuts. I have no idea what sort of sh*t Tommy is in but if I did I think I would try and help him. I've only met him a couple of times but IMHO he is a pretty straight guy. I would think for him to have sold records and not sent them and hung on to the money (if he has - it probably got refunded and he has nothing in the bank) then he must be pretty desperate. He's a young guy in his twenties with a young family, in LA with apparently nowhere to live. If I was that age trying to find my family somewhere to live and needing to earn some money in a city and country that isn't renowned for its benevolence, the last thing I would be doing is looking for an internet caff to correspond with some disappointed eBay buyers or explain myself to soul-source. If he needed £600 quid to sort himself out I'd send him it now. All you seem to give a toss about is some records. How much are you owed? I'll send you it myself if it is such a big deal. Please close this thread until Tommy can speak up for himself or we at least find out what his situation is.
  8. I've bought a good few things from Tommy off ebay and they have always been as described. As for this and similar threads, I think it is fair enough to complain about an ebay seller when you have had a problem but there are a number of posters who just seemed to have joined in, slagging him off, when they are not involved at all. In this case a pm to Adey to check if it was indeed Tommy would have got the response he ended up posting. The sums involved don't appear to be massive so maybe everyone could wait until Tommy gets himself and his family sorted out and be in a position to defend himself before adding anything else? I had a similar situation in 2003 although I was a buyer not a seller, I forgot to pay for a record and the seller left me neg feedback and a right slagging off. When ebay was back on my list of priorities I apologised to him and pointed out that my Dad had died and his sh*tty ebay sale had got pushed down my list a bit.

  10. It is definitely bidding up, but the bidder at the top of the list has actually bid that amount Crazy, I got a copy of this for 20 odd dollars a year or so ago. Time to put it on ebay I think ........... unless everyone else does too
  11. So is it the outlay of 2k that would hack you off or the fact that people were dancing to a bootleg? Would anyone be able to tell without looking at the record? Collect originals by all means, I have done, but if people want to have a dance to a good tune it really doesn't matter what format it is on. If the night is all about playing original vinyl then the situation you describe wouldn't occur unless the promoter was a duff one.
  12. Have a look here, there is a link to request removal of unjustified neg feedback. https://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/feedback-removal.html
  13. Pleased about that Mark, it's a good thread. I've actually taken your advice and tried to lose the emotional attachment to my records and started to sell up. I've been surprised at the results to be honest. I started with my boxes and listed stuff as it came out of them. I thought the cheaper stuff would stick and the more expensive items sell but it hasn't been like that. Good records (regardless of price) have sold and stuck in equal amounts. The more expensive stuff has stuck the most to be honest, generally attracting the odd offer but most well below asking. I didn't think I was too far out on price but who knows in the world of records. I had a bash on ebay as I previously said and again couldn't predict what would sell, sell well or not sell. Auctions either get a few people going, attract a solitary bid or are just ignored, whereas I would have expected records to sell when listed at below book. And while all this is going on I noticed that JM got over £600 for a Majestics demo with writing on the label! :hatsoff2:Anyone want mine? Ah well, I'm in no rush and will probably put them away until after Christmas now. (my sales thread is for anyone interested)
  14. Is it The Archies?
  15. Is that legal in the UK?
  16. I have one of these in the sales list I posted up the other day -
  17. Kev, I think that is so true it is embarrassing. People will chase records because a "name" has played them rather than make up their own minds. As someone selling up, maybe I should bung butch to play a bit of mid tempo - my records would fly!

  19. I sold some stuff on ebay recently, something I haven't done for a while. I listed them at the minimum I wanted for them which was generally well below book price. Some sold for what I listed them at, some didn't sell and some sold for twice what I expected them to sell for. I just wish I could work out which records were going to do what before listing them!
  20. There's quite a few dealers now offering the harder LP's on UK eBay (search for TML in LPs), but in general the prices are quite high. The one you highlight is somebody asking over £35 for a VG LP with a G cover.
  21. I wonder how rare those albums are that Motown released when Berry Gordy was trying to get his artists into what he perceived as the white mainstream (not counting the appalling "At The Copa" series!). I've got a copy of Marvin Gaye - A Tribute To The Great Nat King Cole - 11022 but I don't think I've seen a copy of 11015 - Marvin Gaye - Hello Broadway. It was only when I made a half hearted attempt at collecting the first 100 UK Motown LP's that I realised how many dire ones there are! Some of these can't have sold that well. I have the Temptin Temptations one and thought I had The Temptations Sing Smokey but I can't find it, maybe I have the reissue? I might have another go at the 100.
  22. There's one on eBay [here]
  23. Too much detail .....
  24. .... that all the people watching your records on eBay would actually bid!
  25. I have all the one's in red, I'm fairly sure they're all mint too (will check). Drop me a pm with a decent offer and they are yours. Cheers Paul
