I would imagine this is one of those situations where somebody has the rights to the group name and so can make the line up anyone they want. The group would still be "The Dynamics" in the legal sense even though the members m may not have sung on any of the original records. All IMHO, no knowledge of the actual situation claimed, just seen this sort of thing before.

Thanks but I've been offered one for nothing, they are just trying to find it ( fingers crossed)

Reissues - good or bad for the value of Originals
paultp replied to Tailormade Gaz B's topic in All About the SOUL
I don't think the re-issues affect the price of originals as people who buy originals generally aren't much interested in re-issues. But they mess my ebay saved searches up! -
I've been on an idle quest to collect the first 100 UK Tamla Motown LPs for some time now. I tend to buy them as they come up at the right price, rather than pay whatever is asked. I like them to be in at least VG+ (vinyl & cover). These are the ones I still need so if you have them and would like to sell them to a good home please pm me or email to paul [at] paulsrecords.co.uk I know some are more expensive than others and I probably can't afford to buy them all at once if they were offered as one lot, picking them up as and when is half the fun. Anyway, these are what I still need: TML11008 Marvelettes The Marvelous Marvelettes (on its way) TML11011 Campbell, Choker Hits of the Sixties TML11013 Martha & the Vandellas Dance Party STML/TML11025 Eckstine, Billy The Prime of My Life (on its way, from another seller) TML11027 V/A The Motortown Revue in Paris (hopefully, on its way) TML11076 King, Dr Martin Luther The Great March to Freedom (on its way) Thanks Paul

I prefer to post the records so that they are fully insured, particularly when people pay using paypal as they can claim the full amount back from me if the postal system loses the item. If you want to pay by bank transfer I'll send them recorded or just first class but at your risk (recorded insures up to £50, 1st class is the same I think with proof of posting). So if the postal system loses a record that you've paid 150 quid for (for example) I would only refund you 50 as that is what I can claim for recorded delivery etc. Posting things by second class is pretty much like throwing them in the bin IMHO.

I think pricing records has become so difficult these days because what a record will sell for is so unpredictable. It seems that there are quite a few people who are happy to pay any price to get hold of a record, they don't care that they've paid over the odds for something. If you have an in demand and/or rare record to sell, how on earth do you price it given that scenario? The sad thing for me is that some of the records I'd like to have are now unattainable as there are people who will pay anything for them. On the other side of the coin some genre's seem to be out of fashion so prices are not so daft, I buy male voice mid-tempo more than anything these days and have picked up quite a few over the last year or so at reasonable prices. There's still a lot of less well known records out there at reasonable prices but if you want the well known quality records you need to dig deep these days.

Sad news, didn't know him personally but appreciated his contributions on here.
-
Personally, I think that common records should be listed at the minimum you want for them, I've had a few at 99p. In demand/rare records will always find their price on an auction no matter what you start them at. the thing about eBay is that you are trying to find a buyer in 7 days, so records can go for wildly different prices. I've listed things that don't sell and just re-listed them at the same price to see them take off sometimes on the 3rd listing. no point trying to second guess ebay

Empty club, Dee-Dah-Doo, obligatory man with no teeth. Great promotion, amazing 40 seconds of coverage on the beeb, should be a packer next time.
