  1. Is the GRT label one a later version and is it different? I've had both and kept the GRT as it sounded better - might be my ears though.
  2. Put it on ebay and hope it goes silly!
  3. Some people want to listen to music Some people want to listen to records None of them are wrong.
  4. I still think this is a wind up. Found a Paris Blues in the garage? Can I play a later reissue? If it isn't a wind up, my advice would be to forget about records entirely, stick to mp3 etc, start a night up yourself and don't let anybody over 30 in. You'll have much more fun and nobody will try and police what you're playing. Cheers Paul
  5. TRADE Now done, thanks. Will trade for any good tune of similar value or maybe a couple. I like good R&B or thumping northern, don't want any modern thanks Listen and look at the scans here: Thanks Paul
  6. Paramount 4 - You Don't Know / I've Made Up My Mind- Southern City 1114/1115 Vinyl is Ex, slight wear to label (see scans), slight dish warp (not affecting play), a bit of noise just as the tune fades out on "You Don't Know" side. I think this might be better on eBay as both sides are collected, but offering it here first. Looking for £175 but open to offers including good trades. Special delivery post in UK is £6, overseas will only be sent tracked and insured (£8 - £12normally) PM me or email ptp [at] just7.co.uk Full sound files & scans below
  7. Someone was selling one in Sales: I wouldn't haggle at that price as the price of this seems to Yo Yo. I sold my copy on eBay a year or so ago for $94 then regretted it and bought another recently for £30. So £20 looks like a bargain.
  8. I'm no expert, but the run out grooves look quite wide in that scan and in my limited experience wide run out grooves tend to indicate a 70's press rather than an original.
  9. Craig Moerer auctioned a VG- copy recently which went for almost double that price: Have a look [here]
  10. Hmmm... Maybe I'm old and cynical but I do get the whiff of wind up coming from somewhere .....................
  11. Although these sort of posts annoy me, I'm going to do it anyway: I've PM'd you. Cheers Paul (my dullest post ever)
  12. I personally hate all these re-issues of records (le-git or otherwise) - they clog up ebay and I don't see the point of buying them. I do like issues of unissued stuff though (if legit). Someone should convince Universal to do legit issues on 7" of all the good unissued Motown.
  13. I actually think that commenting on prices is a good thing, if something is miles out it is worth saying so but then again it is just personal opinion. I have had a sales thread where someone said the record I was selling was at a great price, then someone else piped up and said it was overpriced. The discussion continued after the record sold for the price I offered it at, all the discussion was immaterial as I offered it at the price I wanted to sell it for. On the other side of the coin I commented on someone's sales when they said there were some errors, I pointed out in a jokey manner that not all the errors were corrected and highlighted a record that was priced at over 3 times what it was worth. Got a slagging for it but I bet nobody yet has paid £300 for finger popping woman Lock sales or allow discussion, record prices are barking at the moment anyway.
  14. Hi, Ambersil arrived this morning and a couple of cleans has seen off the gunk so thanks to those that recommended this. Noise gone and sound much clearer. I got a couple of microfibre cloths from Halfords which worked fin but on first spin after cleaning there were some fibres picked up by the needle. I actually think my previous record cleaner is to blame, I cleaned another record that was a bit grimy and the smae sort of thing happened. Bought the stuff off eBay and never had a problem before though. Maybe it has "gone off"? Loving the ambersil though! Cheers Paul
  15. Mmmm interesting ... I'm using a proper record cleaner and I did wonder if I wasn't putting enough on, might give that another go. I've sent of for some Ambersil as that looks like it might be the thing. More later .........
  16. Where I've cleaned the gunk out the record sounds clear, the other side is really clear. Where the gunk is still present the sound is either a bit dull or there is some noise. I probably should have sent it back but its too late now.
  17. Many thanks for all the suggestions, I shall do a bit of shopping then have an experiment or two and let you know. The record would be quite valuable so I'll try stuff out on the Olivia Newton John 45 that someone once used as a stiffener for the record they were posting to me. (Never worked out the logic in that). The PVA glue would be a last resort I think Cheers Paul
  18. I wonder if anyone has come across this and could help me out? I've got a record that looks really clean but has surface noise in a few places, there doesn't seem to be any reason for it looking at the record. When I clean it (with record cleaner) there seems to be some sort of gunk coming out of the grooves but it just gets smeared about rather than cleaned. I've given it a go with soapy water after the record cleaner and this seems to help a bit. When I play it after cleaning it you can see the gunk collecting on the needle. Some parts are clean and free from noise, other parts are not. Finally the noise seems to move each time I clean it so it must be the gunk moving around. I'm a bit worried that the record cleaner might be damaging the record so I'm reluctant to keep cleaning it. The other side seems to be fine. Any ideas please? (serious ones preferably ) Thanks
  19. I had a look on the ebay discussion forum and a few people have posted that their screens changed on the 21st Sep. I still can't see watchers though I wonder if it is a location related thing? i.e. if your account is in the UK or on ebay.co.uk your screen will be different to someone who is only registered on the .com site? Dunno really
  20. Has anyone said Nabay yet? That is truly awful. The backing musicians must have gritted their teeth playing along to that rubbish.
