  1. So presumably what he has done here is got someone to put a snipe bid on each record for the price he wants to sell at? Then if someone has put a bid with a high enough max the snipe bid would push it above what he wants. If not he gets to keep the record and not sell it at a low price? New one on me but I can see the logic in it, it must be against the rules but it would be hard to prove. EBay won't care as they make a fee every time he does it.
  2. I put a demo on my web site a couple of years ago at £250 thinking nobody would buy but it went quite quickly That'll teach me! Haven't been able to get another yet. Went after the last one that appeared on eBay - went to £250 again :( Not saying that is reasonable but it seems to be the price.
  3. Bettye Swan - Lonely Love - Money One of the best records ever! If this was in any way rare people would fall over each other trying to buy it.
  4. I bet if we dug about in the C&W scene there would be some records with the right sound, definitely.
  5. I haven't done this for a while but the last few things to drop through my door were: Tommy Navarro - I Cried My Life Away - At last! Brad Lundy - I'm At The Breaking Point - Stone mint for less than $30 and the sound is really good The Vontastics - Why Must We Part - someone was selling one on here and I liked this side, a cheap copy slid off eBay my way The Gay Poppers - I Want To Know - tipped by Jo Wallace ages ago, I had to pay for it but what a tune Johnny Nash - I'm Movin On - on spanish picture sleeve courtesy of someone on here for £20, why on earth has someone re-issued this? Great tune but not rare.
  6. I didn't get as far as the Dan Penn CD, the first bit was so miserable and boring that I couldn't read any further.
  7. Lonnie Lester - You Can't Go Looking for an original of this again as the guy that offered me one sold it to someone else after I had accepted and paid A decent Vg+ or better and I'd pay up to 100 depending on condition. Thanks
  8. I bought a stack of B&S off someone in 99/2k or thereabouts, they had listed them on eBay but they hadn't sold. After being nagged about them taking up space I sold them on for £300 (there must have been about 300). I would reckon that Soul mags from that era must be worth at least £3 to £5 each, with the ones that have NS related content worth a bit more. You just need the time and patience to sell them. HTH Paul
  9. An absolutely beautiful venue, did a warm up spot once and also double decked with Jo Wallace. Shame if it has folded.
  10. Jesse Fisher - You're Not Loving a Beginner - Way Out (multi-coloured) M- £125 pm me or paul@paulsrecords.co.uk Prefer to send this special delivery in the UK and definitely insured if going overseas. Thanks Paul
  11. I've got: M- Jesse Fisher - You're Not Loving A Beginner - Way Out (multi coloured) I'd Like: M- Lonnie Lester - You Can't Go - Nu Tone (any decent condition copy considered) Sorted for this now so any good record considered (60's preferred, partial to good R&B but not rock and roll) Please
  12. Sorted for the Tommy Navarro now, but would still like a Lonnie Lester. Anyone?
  13. As you have already involved ebay in this I don't think a paypal claim against you will be successful (ebay own paypal). I would get in touch and let them know what has happened just to make sure. HTH Paul
  14. Been after these two for ages and always miss them, so I thought I'd ask. Lonnie Lester - You Can't Go I'd be willing to pay £80 - £100 depending on condition. Tommy Navarro - I cried my life away Willing to pay £125 or less Originals only please, pm me with price and condition. Thanks Paul
  15. It's a while since I played my records out but I stopped planning my sets as it was a bit restrictive. What I eventually started doing was I'd listen to what was being played then decide on my first three records then go from there. It was much more exciting and made for better sets as every night is different so different things work week to week.
  16. Can you spot how many of those in the vid you helped train to dance? Kind of ironic isn't it :-)
  17. I think that though I didn't know it at the time I was privileged to be on the fringes of a really great period in London in the late 90's/early 2ks. You could hear Dave Flynn, Irish Greg, Carl Fortnum and Alan Hanscombe at Capitol Soul, pop down the 100 each month and listen to fantastic sets (heard Russ play a blinder down there) With Ady and Mick Smith filling in :-) Nip over to Scenesville and catch Nick and Dawn with Andy Rix and fantastic guests every month. Listen to Shifty guesting at all of the above and then hit the Dome for more of the same. Keb and Ion ran a few nights under the guise of Londons chosen mass (suffer no fools) which were always good. I thought it was the norm but it was actually a really special time. Don't think I'll hear the like again sadly.
  18. I'd like to see a plumber turn up!
  19. There's a copy on my sales here: https://www.paulsrecords.co.uk/shop/buddy-lamp-my-tears/
  20. It wasn't that long ago so probably not one of the "known" shops, it was about 2001. I used to kid the guy behind the counter that his bootlegs looked real, he had no idea. Went in one day and he had no singles at all, he said a Japanese guy came in and bought everything priced over £30. So he said to him "I've got the rest of the stock at home come back tomorrow", then took everything out of the boxes and repriced it at over £30 - the guy came back and bought the lot.
  21. I've had a couple of nice scores; Yvonne Baker for $50 in San Francisco but the hotel lost my Boss suit so swings and roundabouts. Heard Shifty play The Game is Over in London and went home and had a google and found an issue for $6, asked if they had any more "just a demo, same price". My favourite one was in Hanway Street just off Oxford Street, a shop there used to always have a box which had a mix of cheapies, Motown and boots. I got the Four Tops LP with Teahouse in China Town on it for a tenner then looked through the small box. With the legend "Nice Motown" on the card sleeve was Martha Reeves - No One There ..... Price £5 - Result! Still keep it in the same sleeve. Had loads of good stuff off eBay in the past but bargains are tough to come by these days.
  22. I'm warming to the task though I think it might be measured in years. I don't have a lot of experience with records over a couple of hundred quid so it will be interesting. I think the hardest part will be selling records I want to keep. Anyway, 1st record bought. I'm going to say what they are after I've sold them (if I sell them!). Wish me luck.
