I think its more befitting to have a relatively low-profile voice narrate and program it - keeps it personal and is in keeping with much of the BBC's 'factual' programming. Celebs lending their voice to has started to dilute the message, i think, but just my opinion. Thats where all the fetishisation has came about and it detracts from the substance of the matter. E.g. that awful Sharleen Spiteri recording - firstly, she has a very boring delivery, and secondly, the underpinning tone was about 'her acquaintance' with the scene. Anyway, 6 music, which is pure class have got the balance right - recognised guests doing their picks, Jarvis C, Guy G, Iggpy P and then anything more affiliated with the common man e.g. a cultural movement tends to be done by the editors etc.
