  1. Wondered why Stuart Maconie swerved All Singinging All Dancing this year ... ££££'s Bit of a faith keeping shame, he's pushed for time and brimming with cash?
  2. Well Maconie was from Wigan. Maconie went to Wigan. Had indepth chats on previous shows with people of the likes of Ginger Taylor, Ady Croasdell and Sir Richard Searling. Former NME journalist rightly had sufficient depth of knowledge on the subject to justify broadcasting such on a major radio station. Craig Charles ... Do admire the optimistics don't coat him before his kicked a ball stance. Put aside his career from the outset as angst ridden urban Scouse poet, sure some liked that and didn't find it stultifyingly shite. Put aside the ceiling on his alleged talent as being able to utter the word 'smeg' repeatedly on that wonderful Red Dwarf show, with other heart warming co-star charmers like Chris Barrie. Through in a rape allegation and bring to the boil, that's it that's it right there ... Toe tapping to a couple of commercial tracks someone else played to you on cd does not constitute anchoring your own show on the subject. So with an open mind and happy heart, wish him well and hope he's good.

  6. Not sure how you tell the real from the boot. Think below is the latter?
  7. Got the dodgy soul sounds Cecil Washington somewhere. Would NEVER play it out. Think Kev Roberts said his real one came from the man himself.
  8. That's worrying... Bit of a disappointment Maconie not doing it. Least he half knew what he was talking about. Nah lets write him off and pour scorn before he's even played the Snake.
  9. Reckon this in the right place and just needs a ? after the word 'sell'?
  10. "A little bit of sympathy, an ounce of pity and deep in your heart I'll pray there's some for me, but why are you trying to keep us apart oooh it's breaking my heart". "I wanna try love just one more time, but I know my life'll be worth one thin dime, but I love you oh I love you whaaaaaaaat more.." "Well do you tell all your gruesome friends when they enquire as to have I've been".
  11. Patience is a virtue and waiting can't hurt you I know I'll make it somehow.
  12. Good choice. "When you've got the troubles of the world on your shoulders and each passing day the sun grows a little colder, your future doesn't look any brighter, your load isn't getting any lighter, you're down and push has come to shove, now is the time to try my love". "They say the race is not won by the fast, but by the man who endures to the last, if I have to spend a lifetime making you mine then I'm well prepared for the task". "I've seen a whole lotta' women, I've held a lot of hands, I've kissed the sweetest lips from Jane to Marry-ann, but I'm sticking with you baby, like a fuse to dynamite, I'll bust in a million pieces if you don't love me tonight". Gotta love it!
  13. Strewth! Take a hundred off ... And to add insult to injury ....
  14. My names Nev/Ian and I'm addicted to vinyl .... Echo all of the above sentiments. A look through the collection and it's 'someone off ss, someone off ss, someone off ss' etc...... And not just any old schmutter, real quality! Cheers me dears.
  15. "Look before you leap and count your blessings instead of sheep" Chapter 5. "Came in from Denver on a rainy day, just passing through man no place to stay" Clarence Hill. "And I wonder where the wind blows and one I stopped to watch a tree grow" Cajun Heart. 16. Infamous needle burn intro record below - JM auction only time I've heard one without.
  17. £124 on the 19th of May 2006. Mark's comments on this, spot on.
  18. I think that's a bloody good idea to be honest. If anything it gives people more of an idea. John Bowie and Tony Middleton tracks bit out of vogue now? Shame still goodies tho' Swap an issue for the demo of the Showmen for a laugh.
  19. This is the norm isn't it? Most common ...
