  1. Not laughing either, stormer as stated. Have a black UK looking dooby.. sure it's a pressing.. Think there's a vocal intro version with the bloke going on about Ramsey Lewis glasses and IQ's & such, or is that the b side of the original? Label? Too many questions?
  2. Catchy tune can't deny it. I've got it. Though because of when it was recorded and it's whiteness, is suffers imo of what james trouble was calling 'baggy northern' the other day?
  3. 100% spot on right. Do you remember we locked antlers on this topic a couple of years back? Ah happy days, you had to go for a bike ride as I recall.. Muttering "farking simsy, farking piece of sheet" or sim..
  4. Peter you are so right. If only we were Kev Roberts and Cecil could give us copies for nowt..
  5. So he's the vocalist on name it, Jonathan King writer producer?
  6. Think of the songs Smokey Robinson could have written for him.
  7. Take it the Rugby mention was your email Mark?
  8. If you had an original? I would think yes and I would think that would go for everyone. And remember on the northern soul scene, everyone is a DJ.
  9. And how many of those great soul singers have we lost since then?
  10. Tim's copy is on the front of the Top 500 book with the water damaged label. Martin's copy went to KB.
  11. You're not wrong pal ... https://shop.ebay.co.uk/items/__strange-wor...northernQ20soul Less you have a 'mate rate' in mind? Wow! Thanks for the info.
  12. Oh I think I need to have another watch. Do you recall him supplying dj's with records in the 70's? Do you think you may have bought from him?
  13. When you say the original SWONS, wonder if it was it edited down from the one I saw? Remember his name being mentioned, but don't recall an extensive interview as such..
  14. .. no none. Struck me as strange he'd never heard of 'Cracking up' (Roy Hamilton).. Kept going on about Danny White .. Anyway say hi from Simsy from Stortford if you see him going out for fags or owt..
  15. The story of Do I Love You (Indeed I Do) (FULL ARTICLE LINK) Reputedly the most valuable record in the world. The original piece of vinyl was then sold by Les McCutcheon to a Northern Soul collecter called Jonathan Woodliffe, who sold it in 1979 to another DJ named Kev Roberts, who held on to it until 1989, when thinking that the Northern Soul was finally over, sold it to his future business partner 2 Tim Brown for a cool £5,000. Tim Brown then sold it to one Kenny Burrell for an even cooler £15,000, supposedly a world record price for an original vinyl single. I thought KB's copy came from Martin Koppel? Does Tim Brown still have one?
  16. Particulary interested to know any further info on Nigel Martin - where he is now and what his contribution was then. I've heard tell that he supplied records to dj's in the 70's. I last saw him 25 years ago (a chance meeting in the Star Inn here in Bishop's Stortford) and was invited to have a look through his records. I was a young shaver at the time and knew dick ... If I could go through the boxes again now ...
  17. £4K touch last time we looked. On the Frank Wilson 25k misinformation thing, that was Mark Lamarr. On one of those docu programme's last year.
  18. Dancer? The Seeds? Couldn't dance Northern style to that. Well maybe, but it'd be fookin funny to see! (Not you personally Maaaaaark btw) Fine record Dry Well. Zero soul content though and for that reason, I'm out. ps, Weather's a bit shite mate, ave a word.
  19. CLEAR !!! No I'm sorry this thread died of any meaningful soulful content long back.. Sorry this isn't in Feedback, but all the bickering & digs that still continue.. All About The Soul, it ain't..
  20. Steve Aldo "You're absolutely right" / "Everybody has to cry" on UK Parlophone demo. Selling for a friend. Condition is M- has only been played a few times. £300 cheque or Paypal. Enquiries/payment info - pm. Thanks.
  21. Thanks for that, interested to hear views on this. For what was ostensibly a soul night to eclipse the mighty Wigan with it's 100k membership must have taken some doing!
  22. You're a good egg Paul but I think in terms of contributing to the Northern Soul Scene, Ian's kind of done his bit and then some. On the business enterprises thing, you sure you're not getting him mixed up with another promoter? I know some of the ventures he's entered into, he's lost bundles on. But he did it for a love for the music and I believe that.
