  1. Bearing in mind that Dave Godin coined the phrase 'northern soul' for the music that was being played at the Wheel ...
  2. I wondered what 'swoz' was Eddie, till I guessed it had something to do with your surname.. I was thinking - 'strange world of zebra's' ? , no that can't be right!
  3. Got a UK Esther Phillips - Just say goodbye - Camden Market - four quid.
  4. How dim. Demand a refund!
  5. Ady C has been playing 'Why Can't It Be Tonight' covered as Gerri Grainger for more than 15 years. I thought he'd said who it was once or twice, but on later questioning, seems I may have been mistaken.
  6. I think the correct term is "nothing else grips yer heart like soul music does" .. Now where have I heard that before?
  7. Remember this being done before.. Also remember Kettering being quite a soulful town.

  12. Joey Heatherton - When You Call Me Baby
  13. I wonder if at the back of folks minds there is an age where one sort of voluntarily retires from dancing? .. Shouldn't be? But will you still be stepping about (if there's a scene) when you're 75? Would you bother to go to do's still if you were a dancer and now aren't?
  14. As thread title says 'people who don't dance' - not just DJ's.. I do know a few soulies that go to nights & nighters and don't dance. Never ceases to amaze me. It's a dance scene!
  15. Pete S has mentioned this before, but this never ceases to amaze me .. https://shop.ebay.co.uk/merchant/vinylrecor...armrsZ1QQ_fromZ
  16. Interesting, but shtoopid!

  18. It's not a dreary turd imo either. However for the sake of the poll there needed to be good, bad & indifferent options and the concise wording is down to the topic starter - me. I didn't have a 'desperate need' for 'excessive overstatements', I simply wanted to know if (as I suspected) this particular record still meant something to those that were aware of it. As a result of my poll, the stats show that the vast majority do indeed hold this record in high regard and I see that as a fitting tribute to the late great Ray Pollard.
  19. Same here. Still a healthy number of mods at soul venues in the south. Find the 'Plastic' reference quite offensive if I'm honest and what the fook is this thread doing in here?
