  1. Agree with all you say Dave. I think it boils down to this is more of a mod sound than an out & out Northern spin. I would like to know of a better northern instrumental dancer though?
  2. Thats not a valid statement, George Lemons is a top tune, hence the price! If you ever get a Paradox, call me first. I'll give you £125 for it.
  3. If we didn't know the story line, or the plot, or the romance angle. If the director and the producer hadn't been on this forum. If we hadn't seen any clips. If some of us hadn't appeared in the film and if some of us hadn't already seen it all the way through, then yes perhaps it would be wrong to cast the first stone. However that is not the case. They could have had rockabilly or punk as a backdrop to this American financed love story. However Northern Soul is more hip at the moment, the ad men know this and so did these film makers. Just like with the Mc Gate ads that sold our wonderful music down the river for a few greaseball burgers...
  4. If most soul folk feel that way and that seems the case thus far, why is it £200+ ?
  5. Steve Csordas Yesterday at 7:51am · One of Guy's c/ops at Stafford - I believe!! Scottish band and v hard to get hold of.
  6. True. Or both! Good post and true on polydor mod bit, perhaps that's why it's me. Could you tell us whet you got for it? Prices vary from £150 to £250... Yeah? David Walker. What year are you saying you discovered it?
  7. He wouldn't mind me saying. Boy's got taste. Just wondered how many more shared these sort of views..
  8. Dave Abbott.
  9. Wow, so that's 2 well placed dudes that think it's a turd! Each to his/her own obv, but those fat horns, the uptemponess, the break ..? Can't be just me, Ollie & Smudge that like it, or it'd be £25, not £200 odd?
  10. I always thought this was one of the best (if not the best) Northern insrumental there was. However I was quite taken a back by the comments from a South Coast DJ I hold in high esteem who said it was "awful" and "no better than Joe 90". It's easily three figures and not that easy to get hold of. What are your views on this my chin stroking chums? PARADOX - RING THE CHANGES (INST) -
  11. Lenny Kravitz! Not really, Bobby Hebb. Why didn't you do a poll?
  12. The O'Jays are a soul group. R&B is R&B. Who is AGENTSMITH?
  13. Covered up as Sam & Bill - 'I'm Worried' if memory serves.
  14. Chalky! It's the only thing I've been able to correct him on in 5 years and he's younger than me.. Oh ps, Rachel will back me in confirming that Ruby Andrews definitely sings "such a tit head" right near the end of Just Loving You.
  15. Breakfast, that's what it's all about - - - Dim sheet!
  16. No didn't know that mate. Just didn't want to post a needless youtube clip if it had been posted before. I'd never seen it though.
  17. There was a very poor copy of Walter & The Admerations on Ebay not so long back, not sure if it was this one? Whilst grazing about I came across this gem. Not sure if it's been posted here before and I missed it - feel free to remove clip etc.
  18. For nearly 20 years the 1.30am - 8pm era of the 100 Club + other London & Herts soul nights were enough to keep us satisfied for soul in the south. We didn't know many people, but it was pure, we loved it and it had nothing to do with the internet. Since the internet I have met many more people (including my girlfriend at Soul Rev ). I have heard, discovered & owned many more sounds than perhaps I would have without the soul sites. Also found the appetite to travel up north again. Both era's were good, difficult to choose between the two, one sort of morphed into the other.
  19. MAGNETICS - Werhoo! Thanks Mike.
  20. Below is my attempt at posting a Refo clip. It's not a very good attempt. Currently find it easier to post a YouTube clip in a thread than a Refo ... Artist: Magnetics Label: Green Dolphin Track: lady in green soul-clips lol, after posting above unsurprisingly it doesn't work. My fault will have a study in tech section as I think there's a thread in there on this sort of thing.
  21. Doesn't look real to me.. His :- Real one:-
  22. Yeah I saw that, be grin came across my face. Waited for them to tell us when the next one was on and they never did, tsk...
  23. I wonder how many more great soul tunes would have been recorded had it not been for Vietnam? He did well to make it out alive.
