  1. Travelling around the country, it's clear Soul Source is the Northern Soul scene on line. Long may it continue!
  2. Sad news, R.I.P
  3. Avatar of the guy who started the group. Classy. I can imagine he would have little interest in the works of Eddie Singleton and every interest in the diarrhoea drinking competition.
  4. Why doesn't it surprise me a scooter club are behind this. The great unhosed probably have one brain cell between the 8 of them.
  5. With 8 members!
  6. No there isn't.
  7. Weird? Link still working fine here Ade: https://www.guardian.co.uk/music/gallery/2011/jul/29/dance-music-photography#/?picture=377235216&index=2
  8. Link to the pics is in Brett's post # 1 Ade. I think the the title of 'Northern Soul In Pictures' is fair enough and the pictures are credible and interesting. However a broader NS in pictures would include not only fashion conscious youngsters, but also chaps in their late 50's, maybe they'd be heavy set, maybe they'd be a bit follicle shy, but they would be real and in greater number perhaps than the zoot suiters.. Just about a realistic portrait of Northern Soul In Pictures maybe ..
  9. I heard Arthur Willis & The Soulful Dynamics in Smiths the other day. not really Like you Dave, it's just dross they play round here, I wonder if it's a regional thing?
  10. It is Michael! I saw that alternative spelling Dave. Barbara Green spells her name Barbara Green. Perhaps I should ask her if she has any spare copies!
  11. Can't seem to find any info on this track. Searched SS, Popsike, Gemm, Ebay ... Nothing! Only know it's on VIVID and it's the hardest one on the label. Apart from the above and Jo Wallace paying Randy £1.50 for a copy years ago, that's about all I know.. Any more info on current price & availability welcomed.
  12. Does anyone know anything about this? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/northern-soul-HOUSTON-MILES-Remind-Me-You-VICTAN-M-/110672848040?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item19c49da4a8#ht_500wt_922 Item number: 110672848040
  13. He is - username: spacemonkey Sick that someone should nick his records. Hope he gets them back.
  14. Hearing the Pyramid at a St Ives all dayer in the early 80's was quite something. Remember being down the 100 Club circa 1991. Just coming back from the car full of beans and as we came down the stairs 'Angelina oh Angelina' was just starting up... Straight on the floor and tuned in dancing, oblivious to any other goings on, just Stewart & fast feet! Many happy memories of the halcyon 90's at the 100.. Jimmy Bo Horn, Cleveland Robinson, Jean Carter - and hearing the issue take of Stepping Out Of the Picture for the first time - spiritual! 1.30 till 8 - Ady, Butch, Mick, Shifty, Guest - Mouth watering days. Glad to have been there, we ate it up with a spoon.
  15. Because they're cheaper.

And for the following dayer - be locked in a box with an insurance salesman? "mid term, life, water damage with the optional death & dismemberment plan" ...
  18. Dozed off during that. Not offensive, just stultifyingly boring..
  19. Hmm.. Bit inconclusive there Tim. However we've met and you strike me as a sensible chap with a wealth of scene knowledge. I know I paint these funky newies as the Devils's music 'not soul' - 'wrong dance beat' etc - but you know what? It's still obscure black american music and it's new & fresh. If it were just me and a bunch of no disrespect, string vested spencers dancing to the 7 Souls all night, the world would be a feckin boring place! So what you moaning about then Simsy? (Sorry for 3rd party ref - uber naff - just trying to summerise thread point) Well I'm not moaning, I'm debating. I still think Cunnie's C Lo edit wizzes on Joel's funk number - but that's just me and my (maybe fcuked up) opinion. For me it's all about the soul. Joel Corbett80 is a great dj btw and if you've not caught his set yet, you should!
  20. Sorry, I totally disagree. Soul is soul and funk is funk. A crossover NS track will still have a distinguishable dance beat. I'm an excellent dancer thanks very much, but I can't be hoodwinked into dancing to something other than soul on a soul dance scene.
  21. Hmm. still unconvinced that stuff can be danced to in the same way as a Soul record ...
  22. Are you a dancer?
  23. I'm not so sure you can compare Lou Pride, Joe Hicks & the Crow to the recent funky discoveries.. You listen to the oldies, they have a distinctive beat to dance to. Newies don't, the beat is all over the place. This is the whole point of this thread in all honesty.
