Poll: Your Night Out
Well done Chalky lad, good poll this. Not had a poll this varied on this subject before as far as I can recall. Results are going to make interesting reading when it's run it's course.

Is Playing A Boot At A Venue Ever Acceptable
We create these situations for ourselves (me included), go round in circles and go mad. My own fault for using Deon Jackson SDTSWS carver as an example and I'm heartened by Chalky & Dave jumping on me (in an internet sense). I'd be all miffed if they hadn't. I still say it's relatively simple, if you're charging door tax, you're playing original vinyl. If you want to take a chance with carvers, that's up to you but you best understand the guidelines and if in doubt - ovo. There, subject closed (?)

Is Playing A Boot At A Venue Ever Acceptable
Respect your honest opinion. So are you saying Keith Money and myself should not be playing the unreleased 'Some day the sun will shine' Deon Jackson track? As bad as a boot in your opinion? (Serious question).

Is Playing A Boot At A Venue Ever Acceptable
Quite. Or an eight page thread done for the umpteenth time on here! It's simple, if you're charging folk to get in, you must play ovo, otherwise you are ripping punters off. Carver's & such all fine & dandy, folk should know the score by now.

Is Playing A Boot At A Venue Ever Acceptable
How sorry? Down the end of my road pub function gig, free to get in - pressings fine, but still a bit wiffy & chancerish. Paying to get in = OVO, or 50 lashings from the soul police.

Is The 'Upfront' Soul Scene Disappearing Up It'S Own A*se?
Well you've got Lifeline, upfront, popular and an awesome nighter on a good night. Kings Hall equally awesome with the upfront room also.. Think the thing with big oldies nights like Stoke is they are steeped in NS history and this is why they are 1500+ popular. Familiarity = comfort. Pay a tenner to get in and a pony for petrol and it's a crock - "then you've come all this way for fcuk all" (as they used to sing at Highbury. I've moaned about the funk in recent times and this smacks of disappearing up it's own arris in some respects. Though in conclusion to the recent funk chin stroke, everything has it's place and new hard edged black music will and should always be interesting to all of us. Then you've got the 100 Club, one size fits all - and feckin rock on! 32 (count em) years baby..

Auctions Changing The Dynamic Of Collecting?
Stupidity! There's only one John Manship. You can't just assumptively ride on the coat-tails of a 30 year reputation for immaculate vinyl & labels. That's what's always been worth the money.
