  1. Think the YOP one is rarer.
  2. There's a term for those descriptions. 'Sizzle'! You & I are the desperate & needy. You know that right?
  3. Well you've got Lifeline, upfront, popular and an awesome nighter on a good night. Kings Hall equally awesome with the upfront room also.. Think the thing with big oldies nights like Stoke is they are steeped in NS history and this is why they are 1500+ popular. Familiarity = comfort. Pay a tenner to get in and a pony for petrol and it's a crock - "then you've come all this way for fcuk all" (as they used to sing at Highbury. I've moaned about the funk in recent times and this smacks of disappearing up it's own arris in some respects. Though in conclusion to the recent funk chin stroke, everything has it's place and new hard edged black music will and should always be interesting to all of us. Then you've got the 100 Club, one size fits all - and feckin rock on! 32 (count em) years baby..
  4. Stupidity! There's only one John Manship. You can't just assumptively ride on the coat-tails of a 30 year reputation for immaculate vinyl & labels. That's what's always been worth the money.
  5. You may not have a great taste in football teams, ( ) but you've got a great taste in music Liam! Don't ever lose it - 'keep the faith' as the (now long in the tooth - but fook it) saying goes. In the early 90's some of my mates began to peel away and listen to Indie music - not me baby! If I just had Roy Hamilton & Garland Green records to listen to every day, that'd do me. Great thing about our scene is all are welcome, regardless of age, gender or race. It's probably the way Roy Hamilton (or similar) makes them feel, that is why they're there in the first place
  6. Fantastic stuff, thanks!
  7. It would seem so. However I'm not sure how active they were on the scene. Linda's Facebook page is still active (bless her) - zero friends in common. There doesn't seem to be an FB page for the murdering bastard Philip Martins.
  8. 10pm - 11pm Rob Messer 11pm - 12am John Weston 12am - 1 am Ted Massey 1 am - 2 am Mick Smith 2 am - 3 am Mick H 3 am - 4 am Butch 4 am - 5 am Pete Widd 5 am - 6 am Pete Hulatt 6 am - 7 am Ady Croasdell
  9. Just saw this piece in the Mail on line https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2039207/Philip-Martins-charged-sex-murder-solicitor-Linda-Bakewell-Liverpool.html I didn't know Linda, but that's an awful story. Thoughts go out to her friends and family.
  10. Would have been a brave man (or woman stan) to have played that out! It's so unlike the plug side as to be by a different group. I just think they were trying to be all a bit Hermans Hermits with WYOWY, but they seem to have got it rather badly wrong.
  11. 220 posts in and I think I've won hands down! I mean Nolan Porter? Candi Staton? They got nothing on this 4 Chaps crud.... This is taken from Manship's YouTube playlist - and has been in Northern lists. My mate said it sounds like a coupla barrow boys larking about and he's right, The Volumes they ain't! No retorts on 'worst northern track ever - fact' I'm pleased to see.
  12. I really wanted my 8,000th post to have depth and meaning.. Alas it has come to a grinworthy expression that can only exist in the strange world of northern soul - 'brilliant floater'!
  13. I bought this (crap) some many years back .. Thinking it was this ...
  14. Worst Northern track ever (fact) angers me just thinking about it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mxlq4Jq_uxo
  15. Slap in the face for Atlantic?
  16. Was more like 1984, not 70's. LSC = Loughborough Soul Club. Hidden tape recorder at the Town Hall - Rob Smith's spot? Bobby Valentin also on that 3 track EP - well dodgy boot & dodge sound quality.
  17. Nice copy of Jack & Beanstalk too on Ladybird - I bet he believes every feckin word of it!
  18. On the evidence of what we've seen and read already, this film is streets ahead of the Soulboy crud and you can't compare it to This England. I mean the footage they had, how they edited it and what they actually put out was such a disappointing diabolical load of old wank.
  19. It's the pick of the versions Pikey! Pete, have you spoken to Mick Smith for a price? Think he has a copy.
  20. No Reggae got Reggae.
  21. Sir Richard Searling is a Spurs fan? Say it isn't so, tell me that it's not so ..
  22. Where?
