  2. Makes me feel better about selling the Ringleaders for 15 quid seeing that!
  3. Aye that's it, been hearing those rumours for 30 years.
  4. Are you talking about what I think you're talking about?
  5. Jesus. You wouldn't get a hundred and sixty quid for the LP!
  6. Was going to mention that point, but had already been chastised for bringing Winstanley into the argument. Save for Sir Richard Searling and maybe one or two others, IL it would seem, is one of the few big shot 70's promoters to still DJ and not CDJ - see the difference?
  7. What you seem to be failing to grasp is this is a cd v ovo thread and whilst talk of 'fresh, soulful dance' etc is all fine and dandy, it doesn't excuse the fact of playing cd's to a paying crowd.
  8. As stated, he did at Crossfire and got hauled over the coals for it.
  9. Are you trying to get me in your car soul perv? No in all seriousness, the punter could hear the tune in the car on cd, hell he could dance in the car park if he wanted and not get a tug from the SP!
  10. Certainly! See below.
  11. Well they'd best be advised they're going to get whispered about, here, now!
  12. On cd? This is the same as Dustbin Stanley playing a cd set at Crossfire. The magnitude of my northern soul fame allows me to play cd's as I discovered most of these tracks in the first place. That's bollocks, you play real one's - you are real. Play copies and you're a shadow of your former self, whoever you think you used to be!
  13. Jimmy at work said someone played the Snake on R6 the other day. I had to alert him to this thread and one of the funniest things (above) I've ever read on Soul Source.

  15. I thought from the topic title there were passes available to see the great man. Sadly Chalky's Facebook posting told me otherwise. Sad loss and another soul great shuffles off this mortal coil.
  16. A mate of mine was in Philadelphia circa 1990. He was on the phone to a record dealer who said "you're into northern soul"? I got a record here, I just know you're gonna wet your pants"! lol. Twas of course the above mentioned. Half deserves some of the hype I spose, though nothing spesh in truth and a bit too fast to be a decent dancer imo.
  17. Would you shout about a Frank Wilson pressing, signed or otherwise? DJ's all over the country? That's all of us then! .. On the northern scene, everyone's a dj. That said they just look so damn good, great big box of records... Wouldn't pay fourteen hundred quid though. Let alone seven & a half grand!
  18. I'm still not sure about 'Getting To Me' - not sure it's Ben E that is.. Had this discussion before in box section and sure Ady says it is. Just sounds too deep for B.E.K though.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ESD1WfC3Ls
  19. Oh what a shame, RIP Jimmy.
  20. Underwhelmed here..
  21. Yes, got a copy of that somewhere.
  22. Sounds exactly the same to me..
  23. No, you, me, Mal & Tim Brown spring to mind..
  24. Saw IL dj in Chelmsford last year, did a good spot. Seen him dj at the 100 before also. Geezer does know a thing or two about Northern, it's gotta be said.
