  1. No it's for real! She's a legit councillor. Perhaps that's why she's got where she is today. No one meets Councillor Kinnear and forgets it in a hurry
  2. Not wrong Paul. Reminds me of the lab safety glasses we used to wear at school. Also looks like she's wearing some low grade billy bob teeth!
  3. Not sure yet, waiting to hear from ticket dude. " that gypo Reyes" ha ha, weirdo needs to sling his hook - madrid pref...
  4. Could you help settle an argument I'm having? Can you check out Councillor Eileen Kinnear, Harrow on the Hill Conservative. Is she wearing glasses or not? https://www2.harrow.gov.uk/mgMemberIndex.asp
  5. Wigans Ovation Skiing in the snow Billy Watkins - Iceman
  6. Don't remember toothbrush, pink or purple. Do remember a modesque sixties club called DJ's. Always remember this dude trying some silly dance whilst wearing trainers and his lower leg turning whilst the thigh part didn't. Making a mess of his knee ligaments!!! Yuk, not nice, but neither a thing your forget.
  7. Yeah soul club, top tip. That reminds me, Nick's history next to soul club in my favourites https://freespace.virgin.net/nickrennie.1/m...tracksearch.htm
  8. 1981-82 ska 2 tone mod revival Quadrophenia, lead to Motown and Dobie Gray out on the floor etc, started going to clubs like the YMCA in Chelmsford, Dedicated Soul Club - 3 Cups, also Chemsford 1983 run by Brian Rae if memory serves. Went on from there, Loughborough, St Ives, Fleet Peterborough, 100 Club. Fantastic scene 22 years and can't believe I still seem to get more passionate each year! Ps Dayo, Gonna send you a personal later, re Voiceover UK
  9. Hi Dan, Don't know too much about funk/dance/hip hop really. Went from Motown to the rarer stuff (as well) a number of years back and not much else has had a look in since. Anyway, this site has a great sound gallery with a goodly number of sounds and live broadcasts, soul do's etc to listen to. As far as price guides and so on there are a few. There's Kev Roberts' Northern Soul Top 500 available from Goldmine and also a newer price guide available from the same place. Lists either by email or through the post are good to keep yourself updated with prices etc. Rob Messer's Hip City list is worth checking out. Also Shifty's Raving Mad Records provide the creme de la creme of soul £4k+ items regularly. Pat Brady's list is great, been around for years. John Manship has a top list/auction site every week. www.raresoulman.co.uk People say he's dear but his records are always in great nick and he's knows a shedload about bootlegs. There are many more lists and sites, but this place, Google searches etc on the above and Ebay will see you right for starters. Good luck matey. Keep the faith. Simsy
  10. Perhaps I could cross your palm with a sensible sum?

    Chapter 5

Was/is a Sevens pressing - You can't mean it/One in a million. Does sound a bit tinny, need to whack up the base.
  14. Hard for three with so much choice and talent, but here goes for a possible deep soul 5; Freddie Houston - Soft Walking Cleveland Robinson Jr - Love is a trap Roosevelt Grier - Lover set me free Jerry Jackson - It's rough out there Tony Middleton - To the ends of the earth
  15. Think this was Hand it over - diff version. Only subtle difference being the delayed "let - me - know - where - I stand - tell me now" etc. Subtle but great all the same.
  16. I remember me Necky, Smudge and Nige went on a coach from Bishop's Stortford, via London Victoria to Leicester to go to that nighter and . . . . it had been cancelled! Well miffed. Always remember this copper saying we'd be best off spending a night in the cells, cos with our Southern accents we'd be likely to get chinned on the streets of Leicester on a Saturday night at chucking out time! Thankfully some other dudes we knew had rolled up in cars, so we went home with them and the high point was greasy grub at Watford Gap services Central England Soul Club though remember it well, still have the membership somewhere. Loughborough Town Hall etc, Tommy Navaro played three times in one night
  17. Strewth! A dayer, a warm up and a nighter? Hats off to you Karen! Cheers
  18. As I've just secured Monday off work (wer-hoo)! Thought of going the whole hog b4 100 club allnighter on Saturday. Never been to Valatone, does anyone know if it's still on?
  19. Bill Harris - Am I cold Am I hot....
  20. Roger Hatcher - Sweetest girl in the world. Max Cheese. By the way Ken, did you go to Sale after I left you in Bolton?
  21. Have to side with Chalky & Steve I think, although I understand the sentiment of dancing to a great tune regardless. If you have travelled miles to a top nighter and you have good reason to believe they are playing pressings I think you'd be right to be a bit miffed. That's the thing a local soul night might be okay, but a premier event, as Sam said it's more special and original music should perhaps reflect that. I was at a soul night not long ago, when after playing Frank Wilsons' Do I love you (indeed I do) the DJ said "who cares if it's not the original" and a voice from behind me shouted "we do"!
  22. Saw Ray perform at the 100 Club, he was sensational. Haven't felt this saddend by this sort of news since Edwin Starr died.
  23. Not forgetting Hal Miller's version of course!
  24. Youngblood Smith - You can split. great dancer!
  25. Chalky would you let us in on where you downloaded the Nurons from? Do tell
