  1. This is also the Kent 11th Anniversary single (see gallery).
  2. I reckon Pete-S may the man for this Jon. He's a bit of a whizz at that sort of thing
  3. Nice choices - esp Jackie TBL. Karaoke rooms! Top Idea
  4. I saw it, (the question mark that is) but that's not one I'm gonna check up on mate.
  5. You're too modest Steve!
  6. Bum thread premonition Hour gone ... Come now, don't be bashful, everyone sings in the bath/shower - don't they?
  7. I like to listen to soul around the house. Vinyl & multi cd in the living room - Ray Charles (Currently) in the kitchen - Wigan Memories - in the bedroom*. Personal compilation cd's in the car and in the bathroom. It's the car and the bathroom where most of the singing along takes place and the one's I enjoy the most are the one's where I can get near the right vocal pitch and sound something like the tune that's playing (well, in my mind probably). Tunes I enjoy a good sing along to include Arthur Alexander - You better move on. Mark Loyd - When I'm gonna find her. Freddie Gorman - The day will come. Lenny O Henry - Mr Moonlight and B J Thomas - Baby cried, to name but a few. So what tunes make you sound good? Doesn't have to be soul necessarily but everyone has fave sing alongs right? *Wigan Memories - in the bedroom. Just like to ad a "yeah yeah" before this gets quoted out of context further down the line. If I get any replies on this thread that is.
  8. No it's a new series. But I've seen some similar footage before with his brother speaking etc. Think this was also on BBC not long ago remember missing the start and taping the rest.
  9. I thought it was great. Interesting listening to Solomon Burke talking about the inspiration behind 'Everybody needs somebody'. Sam Cooke's brother looks like him. Wonder what gems Sam would have come up with had he not been gunned down
  10. Last tune & out the door t'100 Club. Sam Cooke - Sugar Dumpling ...
  11. Just been getting ready for the 100 Club and sticking the feel good 60's stonkers on while getting ready. Channels - You can count on me Emanuel Lasky - Don't lead me on baby Silky Hargreaves - Hurt by love Majestics - Strange world Showmen - Take it baby Eddie Newton - Don't fight the feeling Jimmy Roobins - I can't please you Platters - Don't hear, speak, see no evil Ooh and that cd track uploaded by Pete-S, Jerry Jackson - I don't play games. Ossam
  12. I like Sixties/Northern/uptempo sounds & deep soul / ballads. Not really heard too many people refer to themselves as 'true Real Soul fans' in fairness, but I know what you mean. Anyone who likes the former, but not the latter is a rare beast first and foremost. They are not seeing all the colours of the spectrum. If however they did only like the former, bearing in mind the amount thats out there, that I think would be soul a plenty. To much dodgy modern disco, that's the thing to steer clear of.
  13. Well you make some interesting points Dave. Bearing in mind your locale etc. General consensus seems to be that national dj's do not purposefully adapt their sets according to their geographical dispositions. Have to agree with Dave on 100 Club being fave venue. Twenty years in attendance, only missed one nighter in last six years and the best bit, it's on tonight and I'm going - wer ho!
  14. I refer the honourable gentleman to the statement I gave earlier
  15. Lighten. The term "north of Watford Gap" is an expression that has been around for donkey's. It's an expression Southerner's use to express fear of travelling North. Or at least lack of Knowledge on venturing anywhere remotely North. Think it's kind of last turn off from the south. https://www.stackridge.com/north_of_watford_gap.htm 1st 3 lines mate, says it all
  16. Yes above true, though she's not been to the 100 in a while and she's not really that much of a soul fan either Although she's a nice mover. I'm still wearing her down on the soul thing, but it's taking a while - 14 years She likes Robbie & Marroon 5 Anyway you and I met at Luton, if you remeber? Was it last year, outside? And whad'ya know about those Hertford all dayers run by Dave Crabtree - Sundays, every month ???
  17. Is e the Finnish geezer that came to the 100 Club that time Ken?
  18. I know where my interest lies allright! Ding Dong Dana they used to call her. Llama lips n camel hips Smashing baby yeah ...
  19. Crystal! Now there's a Southernism for you. Popularised by that Lock Stock film that even them 'fackin norvern mankee's' would ave seen. Except Hammy of course, as they talk out the side of their mouths.
  20. Look at me now! I'm the one on the right by the way No, be good to see you mate. You're not travelling from la belle France I take it?
  21. It most certainly is/has If you can make it to Luton, you should get along to Letchworth and check out the Plinston - Fantastic nights
