  1. Dozy old git, that was the Barons ... Anyway looks like Chalkys' been to the rescue, he's good like that. Can't post sounds here anymore for some strange reason, but can in the gallery. /index.p...cmd=si&img=9963
  2. Yeah Pete-S put it up back in the summer I think it was. If I can't find that, I'll pm you an mp3
  3. It's your's, pm me your address details
  4. Erm Geno - I'll be round when you want me ... ... Or original (pre-edit post) Well there's always 'probably the best soul cd in the world'.... (Below). /index.p...owtopic=5903&hl=
  5. edit - back in a bit. didn't read properly - dimmer switch
  6. https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php...lub+anniversary
  7. Sure this & Fab Impact are two of the best. Got about a dozen of these suckers ( /index.p...album&album=113 ) San Fran was a year I missed Gonna lobby AC from the vault, score? Ps, What was 16th? Think Dave Rimmer's site has a listing ...
  8. I have been surprised and impressed by SS members dogged pursuit of chancers selling records. Fraudsters and chancers alike have been exposed, named and shamed. Some have joined this site in an attempt to defend their honour (Mr 'Mega Rare' Fosland for one) and this has perhaps done them some good. Others have stayed silent and secretive - what ever happened to Mr 'one hundred million dollars Gene Toones'? So members have a security blanket from ebay and other chancers out to rip us off. Thus far this thread proves JM is guilty off nothing more then selling records for the best price he can get. Something that was never a secret in the first place. Ian Sims.
  9. Here here. Speaking in my capacity as John's mum it would be nice if we saw him on here regularly.
  10. Agreed. I know we marvel at his prices at times, but as far as the auctions are concerned they're driven by the punters. He sold an Ace Spectrum for me some time back on his auction. Everything went smoothly, it went for top dollar and I ended up with a couple of nice singles I'd been after and a decent chunk of change. JM is reputable and trustworthy in short. His records are always in good nick as described. Although he's quite a busy boy, if you phone him with a query, he'll usually take your call. Pretty much and all round good egg imo. Be a bit miffed if he wasn't around.
  11. Sad but true. Yeah but you need a good twenty odd years or so to take it all in.
  12. These dude's should be pitied then really. Or at least encouraged to get out more. There's no substitute for experience, you can't buy it. Think back to when we were nineteen and stuff you picked up and maybe forgotten. But it's always there, stored in the vaults as it were. Plenty of nighters on still, can't dance in front of your pc, unless you're a prat. You can't solely experience the northern scene from home, like comparing Sky Sports 1 with the north bank at Highbury.
  13. The Sax I haven't heard it out for yonks. But surely in-offensive filler between uptempo numbers maybe ...?
  14. If they were played back to back, I think I'd stay out on the floor though. Ps, I've even got a suitcase full of kisses too!
  15. 1. Baz Riley 2. Butch 3. Matt Bolton
  16. Agreed Good dancer imo - a little uptempo. Thought Eddie Bishop was just a great oldie. Don't hear it played out much these days though. Dunno about the north, but gonna put that right next year, eh Chalks
  17. Comuter says no. Sorry mate but the originals always the greatest
  18. Waited for it to get going ... and it never did. Don't get me wrong rich vocal quality as good as ever. Big Ben E fan etc, but his greatest ever recocord ...? Er, no.
  19. She clearly says "Ian Sims" during that song - no question ... Damn fine points raised if I may say so. Good to see you back Hammy (if indeed you are back).

Love the thread title mate Shane must have his head stuck in the pud still
  21. Good question, I've asked before .... /index.p...wtopic=20660&hl= Would appear no one really knows. How about a sound that's broken, goes big, is played bordering on excessively then rested with intermittent bursts ... ? Digression you understand not diverting subject of R&B reception to the oldies ear point
  22. Yeah regardless of tempo a northern newie is still northern. Whereas R&B is an offshoot and therefor a little different/novelty? Now we await comments from oldies heads that hate R&B!
  23. Not sure about that mate 'oldies' part of whole scene for a start and how could he generalise on 'rare soul newie' - uptempo? mid tempo? ballad? Having said all that, I kind of understand the point he was trying to make. Interesting point.
  24. What you on about? Nice vocal - shit banjo. Bit thin on the ground for production values back then. Thought there was a sniff of calypso or sommat during that crossingover-ness ... 6/10 try again with horns.
  25. That's fantastic mate We all had a rare old laugh in our house (and forwarded it to everyone in the address book)
