  1. I'd like them just to announce the artist of each track, no real need to say much else. Maybe the odd dedication and that's about it. Emmerdale dialect shorter to type - owt/anything tother/the other.
  2. Not too little and not too much chat I think is what's needed. Can't bear it when they go on and on. But spinning discs one after tother without saying owt is no good. A fine balance what's needed imo.
  3. Have a little look at this Steve when you have a minute. /index.p...wtopic=10144&hl=
  4. Give us a clue what sort of sensible offers you're after.
  5. Sorry to but in. But yeah it's been played out - couple of Crossfire's back. Played at either the Dome, or Plinston, or Both. Good record imo. Not a floorpacker as such I'd say. But good all the same.
  6. Year's ago at the Carwash (I think) Sunday evening, after their disco bash our northern night started. A goodly number of disco bods had hung back and were either kind of taking the pish, or were primed to take the p. Keb was dj'ing at the time and in his own inimitable manner proclaimed "If you don't like soul music ... fcuk off"!
  7. Corinne Drewery from 80's pop band Swing Out Sister. Pictured below with Sir Richard Searling and someone we know.
  8. Quicksand. I know your copy's reasonably priced Nige. But £500+ for a mint copy if it ain't that rare, well just seemed a little steep was all.
  9. Yep was within this timeframe (at the 100 Club) I offered mad Steve sixty quid for his copy. He said He'd think about it. Couple of nighters later he wanted £150. Gone right off it now. I think it's twee. I blame Rachel. Seems to be plenty of copies of Kel Osborne floating about, so I'm wondering if £500 is perhaps a bit steep?
  10. John Bradbury - Formerly of the Specials. In addition to his vast knowledge of Reggae, John Bradbury was a dedicated fan of Northern Soul, which resulted in his production of 'Sock It To 'Em J.B' appearing on The Specials second album. After The Specials split, and while remaining involved with The Special AKA, Bradbury decided the time was right to set up his own soul revue band, and so JB's Allstars were born. The project was signed by RCA, allowing the releases to be put out on their RCA Victor label, making JB's Allstars the first artist to appear on the label since Elvis Presley... Four singles were released on RCA Victor with only one reaching the UK Charts; 'Backfield In Motion' (RCA 384) reaching No. 48 in February '84 was a revival of the 1969 US million-seller written and originally performed by Mel & Tim.
  11. Seven Souls - I still love you Major Lance - You don't want me no more
  12. Can't find original thread on this. But Dale Winton is another name for your list. Anna Ford went to the Casino once. Not sure she's a soulie though.
  13. Good record though, lover love lover love love and all that. Quite fond of the Serenaders at the minute.
  14. Otis Redding Jackie Wilson Sam Cooke
  15. Brian Rae.
  16. Well impressed with your Wigan sounds chronology Paul Was trying to imply that white shite would be in the mix with some of the dubious tunes played there. As for the mods I was thinking more eighties than sixties. I remember it being played to death at Triad (club round here) alonside things like Traffic paper sun. I think that's what's probably jaundiced my view. Though I do still like the intro ...
  17. Got spins at Wigan I think, which tells a story. Probably sandwiched in between Tony Blackburn and The Who. Never a northern record imo, more of an old mod sound.
  18. Oh but Karen, haven't you heard, it's massive everywhere
  19. Took me year's to find out R.Dean was singing "sitting in my easy chair, I feel your fingers running through my hair". As for it's mainstream-ness Col, I think it was pressed on Stardust a few years back. (So I heard)
  20. High on the wants list this year when I've recovered from Christmas finacial overspend
  21. Had this in my hand at the 100 Club, couple of niters back. VG+ £400 - One of Kenny's mates I think.
  22. No those two seem exclusives don't they. Though there were other people on HYPE that he was on wasn't there. Dunno about KASIKA - more modern releases maybe.
  23. And was it KNOX underneath?
