  1. Man alive! You lost me a bit near the end there. As for the rest of what you say, I approve. As Ken would say 'bob on'.
  2. I think in fairness Pete Meaden was the mod in their midst. In the early days anyway as for the others, Townsend a little perhaps, but not really the others. Small Faces on the other hand, now they were mods who wanted to be in a band etc.
  3. David Porter - Somebody's Trying To Ride Piggy Back
  4. The Good I'm stepping out of the picture - Can't break the news to myself - I Don't wanna be your used to be. The Bad My Little Cottage - Um um um um um um - The Record. The Wacky The Winds kept laughing - Slowly Molding - Nobody knows what's going on in my mind (but me) Not NS, but Motown 'The Onion Song' always struck me as a bit weird. Anyone got anymore faves of any flavour?
  5. Funny? I'd say he's got some balls writing that dumb ass shit! :fool:
  6. Get well soon Nige. Best wishes. Ian Sims.
  7. Closed this morning's one and moved relevent posts;
  8. Furry muff.
  9. Sad news indeed. Perhaps Shane (or someone) could merge the two threads - other one in Freebasing this morning ...
  10. Superb vocal.
  11. £500 mod monster and a damn fine tune to boot.
  12. The Cats. Eddie & Ernie
  13. Thanks everyone
  14. That's the one ! Cheers, can't listen to it properly as at work. Doubtful that's a full clip if from JM site? Anyone know a price?
  15. --> QUOTE(C.B @ Apr 4 2006, 10:43 AM) link Flip to Eric Lomax C/U (aka L.M.williams) called "Girl don't leave me" perhaps? Not got a sound file have you CB?
  16. Got an email from a mate who was with us at the 100 on Sat. Reads as follows; There's a track Soul Sam played that I've heard before and is f***ing top... I don't know the artist or what it's called, but I think it's a big record as the dancefloor response was huge. Sounds mid to late Seventies to me, bit of a floater, and has the repeated refrain of "Girl don't leave me" in the chorus. Been doing a little digging myself today, but no luck. Any info would be greatly appreciated and should you by any chance manage to secure a download that would be great.
  17. Wonder what you were watching for the other 50 minutes? As bathtime clashed with the start of Idol in our house, it had to be taped. Which meant I only got to see the last 10 mins of SB as well. Not out of choice though.
  18. Thanks for the tip I love this guy. Jerry Wexler said Solomon Burke was the best soul singer (with a borrowed band).
  19. I was waiting for the bit that said "and they paid $150 for the whole contents of the shop". Kept that bit quiet though, which I guess is fair, but just as interesting as the rest of the story.
  20. Imperials are nice movers. Great stuff.
  21. I hear that, street party (don't have those anymore) Sawbridgeworth 1977 aged 11. Not much soul about, had to settle for listening to me dad's O C Smith, Lou Johnson and Brook Benton records. Not bad though. A lot of this that year ...
