  1. What's the one that Luther Vandross covered?
  2. That's Ray Charles mate.
  3. Funny you should say that. We were having a mini debate on this very subject (post # 11onwards) the other week. In a thread started by 'Matthew' /index.php?showtopic=29041 PS, Don't forget BBC 4 - 9pm this Friday.
  4. What she posted same time as you? She said his name is Matthew, no surname ... So myopic arsepiece to you too.
  5. BBC 4 Friday June 16 - 9.00pm. Profile of Sam Cooke who became the first superstar of soul, charting his career from his early days on the 'gospel highway' to the founding of his own label and finally his death in 1964. Been on before and well worth another watch. One for the diary. Tell the family Big brother's off!
  6. You're amazed and you think it's well spotted. And you're going to tell us his real name in a minute - - - Five hours later ... Oh it can't be you mate, where would you find the time? Well Mr Vandyke (junior or senior) , I care not a fig about your postings. But I'll say this, you've got too much free time on your hands.
  7. Indeed. Long enough to say "two three four".
  8. Were you thinking of B J Thomas? Because, well ...
  9. No don't be Paul, he's got to get £200 for it yet ...
  10. New list bump ..
  11. Damn, Ken beat me to it. I did put the avatar on for him though after spotting the similarity ..
  12. I think we're getting all a bit about this. If you had a 'your name' box on the profile page, it could be optional same as the others. If it were not filled in that would tell a story and if a false name was used and later came to light after a beef ... more rope to hang themselves with.
  13. How about having a box on members profile page for your real name?
  14. Fantastic! Cheers Derek Not seen that before.
  15. Was due to record 'later' with Jools Holland tomorrow.
  16. Ah thats sad news
  17. British Theatre Guide seem to know the score; Although Mick Martin is credited as the writer, this is very much director Paul Sadot's story. He tells in the programme of his own experiences in the 1970s at "all-nighters" around the country, including Wigan, which are recreated in the play. Sadot's enthusiasm for these days and the Northern Soul scene come through very clearly in the play, the programme notes, the leaflets and the web site dedicated to the play. Well received and appreciated. I thought it was great!
  18. Halal? And then of course there's crossover ...
  19. I hear yer. Was at Soulgate yesterday. Lot of Modern. Then out of nowhere came the Parliaments, and my spirits were lifted. That's what it's all about, a mix. Should expect it. It's all northern soul. if you don't like it, don't come.
  20. 'since I met you darling' Frankie Beverly - If thats what you wanted.
  21. I always liked me old mucker Smudge's take on non soulies :- "Simsy they don't know do they" ..
